I saw something on my wife's Facebook page.
It is maybe something that has "gone viral"?
Anyway, the point was....HS Seniors (I'm the father of one) are upset that their senior year is being ruined. (My DD is not complaining..she's been unselfish)
.......anyway, the response came back in this Facebook post:
Guys who were (HS) seniors between 1964ish and 1971 or so spent their senior year in Viet Nam.
I'm paraphrasing....but that was the main point.
I kind of doubt that is accurate. I would think the US Government did not draft young men until AFTER they graduated high school.
Anyone want to fill me in on that?
They were drafted when their number came up. If still in school, even college could get education deferment.

Most didn't turn 18 until after graduation. Some might have enlisted, but no one would have been drafted while attending High School unless they were professional low achievers. It could have meant that some were drafted as soon as they graduated. It's possible I guess. I graduated from College on June the 3rd and was in Amarillo, Texas for basic training on June the 4th. I wasn't drafted, but I wanted to get it over with. Military Service I mean!

I can only speak for myself graduated HS in May 1967(18) by August 67 (19) I had my draft notice which meant you were given a date for the physical -pass and you became property of Uncle Sam. If you were enrolled in college you could get a 2 S (student) deferment. 4F was a medical deferment. Can't remember what year they went to the draft lottery. I can still remember my mom checked the mail and getting the greeting from Uncle Sam letter even though I knew it was coming eventually I still remember that Oh s____ moment

We have our first Corona Virus restaurant demise, and it is a shocker. Chuy's has shut their doors permanently, as of this evening.

On an even sadder note, the virus has claimed a childhood neighbor friend of my DH. I fear this is just the start.

It has been a rough day. I am so glad I have all of you to help me laugh and smile, when I need it most.

Stay safe. Stay in. Be well.

I went to CVS today to pick up my medication. I walked there, since I do not drive. I was surprised with what I found. I had to go outside to the Drive through window, to get my medication, and pay for it. The inside was boarded up. Surely, they could have come up with a better idea, for us pedestrians to get our medication, rather than having us outside amongst the cars/traffic at the Drive Up. Am I going to find the same thing at my bank, when I go there on Friday, to cash a check?

I did this a few days ago on FB and copied and pasted my answers with a few modifications. I didn't realize the donut one wasn't on there.

When I came to the question "What was the last thing you ate?" the answer both times was Oreos. I think I need help.
Update: the answer is still Oreos.

Mom definitely should not have bought two huge things of them...

I am not surprise about places closing for good due to the coronavirus.

Areas that really depend tourism for their economy such as Wisconsin Dells and Door County is something to keep an eye on. Door County on March 18th asked tourists to postpone their travel plans for the next 30 days. Door county wants the travel plans to be postponed because they have capable medical personnel, but staffing is limited and stretched thin during this emergency.

Door County has a bunch of small villages and towns that depend tourism. A lot of Door County past Sturgeon Bay does not have big chains at all.

While Door County has some shops and places are only open seasonally, there there places that are open all year round. Some of the year round places are closed due to the coronavirus. There even are a couple places that I go to for eating supper when I'm Door County that are closed right now. Those two places don't have drive thru or carry out.

I know the school part due to my mom. My mom actually started school before she turned 5 due her having a birthday being a couple months after school started in her era.

not thinking Chuys has anything to do with the Virus. The chain has been in trouble for awhile. This isn’t the first to close. Happens when you all of a sudden expand the company to fast. I liked it but didn’t love it and priced to high for what it is.
In a matter of a few blocks there were Chevys Mexican restaurant and first to go, then South of the Border closed up. In came Uncle Julio’s, Chuys and just this year Fat Rosie’s. Chuys was my least favorite for food, service, loud and price. Chuys was fine however the other two are superior when you can pick from 3 within a 5 minute drive. Over saturation.

Uncle Julio’s is my favorite but Fat Rosie’s is the close second and it is fun and lively

Good luck! Sometimes I'm really glad I don't drink coffee! Some of our takeout/delivery places are closed down, too. I'm glad we ordered Chinese food last week, because they are closed down now and not even delivering or anything.

We're at 5 confirmed cases in our town, but I was at the Aldi this morning to see if they had pasta since my regular store was out. One of the employees was on the phone with another...apparently she was scheduled to work this afternoon, but was calling in sick with a headache, sore throat, fever and cough. On the upside, the Aldi has wipes at the registers for customer use...I wiped my hands and the keypad on the debit card machine and I washed my hands when I got home.

On the upside, the grocery store had flour for the first time in a month, so I picked up three 1kg bags so I can make all the things I've been wanting to make but couldn't. I imagine it will go fast, so it won't matter that the stock boys put it in the wrong space. They put it in the spot for self-rising flour...close, so people should still find it. I did.

It is hard to say where we sit as a town, state, county or country. Very few of the sick riding it out at home have been tested. I think I heard they might receive more swabs next week. They are trying that drive through type testing but it is over capacity. So our numbers are low in comparison to other nations however nothing counts towards the total until they are tested. Gives many a false sense of security. Tail chases the Dog syndrome.
