I stocked up weeks ago. Drank 2 and replaced 2 at Binnys yesterday. They closed down last night.
You are going to love the series of AVENUE5.I don't get it either. A coworker from my old job is now a contractor for them (long story) but they're all working remotely, including contractors. Does not make sense.
How stupidMy job might become available. My idiot of a boss wants us (contractors) to come in when everybody else who actually work for the company that I'm contracted to gets works for home. I want to tell him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
Even though were not considered essential. My only hope is a lockdown even though they don't seem to help. Because is anybody actually tracking people? Who gets sick and who doesn't any who in an invisible carrier. Until that happens, we might as well have no economy for months.
Small rant over.
I have mixed emotions about the social aspect. I love to have discussions with people, but since my divorce in 2001 I have basically been a loner. I always make a strong effort to be open and willing to talk to anyone, but I don't pursue it strongly. Not because I see anything wrong with it, but in situations like this where I am the new kid, the neophyte as it were, I am uncomfortable with that particular status. One thing I hadn't considered was that the majority of the population here is female and I hadn't bargained on as much attention as I have gotten from the ladies. I actually didn't notice it but my 18 year old grandson did and mentioned it (a lot). Now I am scared to leave my apartment! Just kidding, I'm fine with it.Did you get everything moved or will you still have to make some trips back and forth? Maybe the one woman will warm up to you over time. It's got to be hard having just lost her best friend, and of course with everything going on now, she may view all the people there to help you move as a threat to her health. Give her time. Does it bother you to interact or do you think you'll enjoy having people around to chat with? My dad was a real chatterer...he LOVED talking to anyone and everyone. He'd see an out of state car in a parking lot and he'd wait by that car until the owner came back and he'd strike up a conversation. When he was in the hospital after his strokes, he ran into some friends and really enjoyed "Solving all the world's problems, but no one would listen to their solutions." I never understood why he didn't want to move to a senior community where he'd have people to talk to. He was such a social person that it seemed odd that he wanted to live so isolated out there on the ranch 20 miles from the nearest town. But I can understand if it's not something you are comfortable with or used to, it may be difficult for you at first.
While I want to go Euro side. Supposedly my governor got number one handling the virus. Why? I have no idea. I really think governments are making the plans as we go alone.
Thank you.Thinking of you, @Tony the Tigger . Praying that your online version of the 2 stores may eek out enough in sales, to keep you afloat. Really pulling for you and Brian as well.
I love driving a stick. Save the manuals! I am focused on the road, my 2 feet operating the sensitive dance of clutch/gas pedal, accelerating for some boost, downshift down a gear and save on riding the break pedal. It's everyday driving in Europe, it's like a foreign language here in the USA.![]()
Every New Car You Can Still Buy with a Manual Transmission
In case you're in the market for a new car with a stick shift, we salute you. Here's what you have to choose from.www.caranddriver.com
@donaldtoo and others who had discussed (about a month ago) most car makers getting away from manual transmissions. Finally, I found an article that actually explains why this is happening, and it's obvious -- I just had my "duh" moment here!
It's because of the push now for electric cars -- eventually (years down the road) not much need for the common transmissions -- because the computer will be driving the cars! (P.S.: In my case, it's probably a good thing -- I'm a hazard in the driver's seat!)![]()
