How stupid

my DD firm is essential and they also have 1000s of contract employees. All of the departments including contract are home and that was proactive prior to shelter in place

her boss is the director and he had everyone post a photo of their home work station which varied from my DD and office chair to a girl on her bed with a laptop and 3 monitors.

I have mixed emotions about the social aspect. I love to have discussions with people, but since my divorce in 2001 I have basically been a loner. I always make a strong effort to be open and willing to talk to anyone, but I don't pursue it strongly. Not because I see anything wrong with it, but in situations like this where I am the new kid, the neophyte as it were, I am uncomfortable with that particular status. One thing I hadn't considered was that the majority of the population here is female and I hadn't bargained on as much attention as I have gotten from the ladies. I actually didn't notice it but my 18 year old grandson did and mentioned it (a lot). Now I am scared to leave my apartment! Just kidding, I'm fine with it. 😇

And so this happened. Starbucks closed since our area didn’t believe in drive through coffee 20 years ago in our area. Oy. Shelter in place does not allow pick up inside for coffee. Food yes. Coffee no. Lordie.

The reason we are Amazon Prime. I had not made coffee in 5 years. I WILL SURVIVE

Some of the state governors have more than stepped up. The fed has plans and guidelines; but sometimes, in certain instances, it's the local governors and mayors that have made things happen.

@donaldtoo and others who had discussed (about a month ago) most car makers getting away from manual transmissions. Finally, I found an article that actually explains why this is happening, and it's obvious -- I just had my "duh" moment here! :joyfull:

It's because of the push now for electric cars -- eventually (years down the road) not much need for the common transmissions -- because the computer will be driving the cars! (P.S.: In my case, it's probably a good thing -- I'm a hazard in the driver's seat!) :p

I was extremely stressed today. Obviously not asleep now. Barely ate today.

Easier to type on the laptop, but short version for now: non-essential stores are closed as of today for who knows how long. I’m not even sure if we are allowed to do in-store pick up while we work on our online inventory. There is no way to ramp up online sales enough, fast enough, to maintain two rents and a few employees. I have some plans, but they may be long shots.

At this point, I’m making peace with possibly closing one of the stores if I can get out of the lease, rather than continuing to waste money on rent. But that will cause issues as well. Loans can push things down the road but ultimately make it worse.

A week or two would be one thing. It’s already been a week of bad sales, and we’re just getting started. And we’re closed.

If we had some guaranteed relief without a lot of red tape, I’d make the best of a “staycation.” Right now it’s more like paralysis.

Ok back to bed.

I love driving a stick. Save the manuals! I am focused on the road, my 2 feet operating the sensitive dance of clutch/gas pedal, accelerating for some boost, downshift down a gear and save on riding the break pedal. It's everyday driving in Europe, it's like a foreign language here in the USA.
