Someone please explain this to me— PLEASE

Yesterday- “We’re not testing for coronavirus because the chances are too slim.”

Tonight-

Schools closed for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Sports all cancelled from youth up until at least April 15.
Gatherings cancelled.

All of this happened today late afternoon. My son’s school sent the email at 5:07pm

How did it flip this quickly???

Where can we find legit information to know wth is really going on??????

Original estimate was each infected person would infect 2.67 others leading to an exponential infection rate. By limiting social contact they think it would lower the infected population by 40%. Hence all the cancellations of activities were a lot of people would be in close quarters.

I know people who were told that since the symptoms are similar to the flu and if you are fairly healthy, then you should go quarantine yourself at home if you feel sick.

Now go wash your hands and don’t touch your face!

Latest update from school principal-

•Confirmation mass for immediate family and sponsors only. Reception Canceled. Breakfast cancelled.

•All First Communion meetings/events- cancelled, will revisit later.

• All school sports cancelled thru 4 weeks.

• Spring Pictures- cancelled- will not be rescheduled.

• 8th grade Washington DC trip- cancelled.

This is so sad. I know most people here aren’t catholic, but 1st communion & confirmation are huge events for Catholics. :(
The poor 8th graders and their DCtrip too :(
T is going to flip out over all of his sports being cancelled school and club.
Brings back memories of my Confirmation day, I was sick as a dog, had a 104 temperature, was throwing up things I hadn't even eaten and almost passed out on my way to the alter. But, nothing other then death would have stopped me from going. We were built tougher. I think that what I had that day would have made coronavirus look like a mild case of runny nose.

I have to touch my face, my hands are the only thing holding my head up. Without them my head would crash down on my keyboard as I fell asleep while typeingkad;kfwoelkhweokfjwl;wbgrj!

New email at 3:50. Confirmation has been postponed indefinitely. :(
