This project reeks of the recent design trend of “opening up space,” which is great in many cases, but doesn’t always work in themed entertainment, and will feel poorly imbalanced with one side of innoventions remaining. Worse, the project looks to get rid of symmetry because it thinks it’s some dated 80s design, whereas it’s really just a staple of the type of festivals the park takes from. Worse, the project doesn’t understand the entire premise of the park and wonders why there are only two lands, when every other park has multiple, so it breaks them up. Asymmetrically. Imbalanced. The imagineers on this project aren’t changing the park’s direction. They’re removing its direction.

Epcot’s setting is Epcot, a permanent world’s fair, and no other theme park has a similar concept. So I’m not sure why you’re comparing this to other parks. Comparing it to Disneyland is stupid.

Was a permanent World's Fair.
It's been many years since Future World operated as a World's Fair.

In case some didn't see it in the other thread, Mouse Gear is moving but other stuff is happening:

Coming soon and continuing through January 2020, new walkways will open connecting the west side of the Main Entrance to the promenade near The Seas with Nemo & Friends; and the east side of the Main Entrance to Future World East near Mission: SPACE and the new, temporary Mouse Gear location.

What is it now?

A World's Fair that stayed open 30 years too long.

What is it becoming?

World Nature, World Celebration, World Discovery.

So, more like a State Fair than a World Fair. A non-stop Festival. Almost all the corporate sponsors are gone, though, replaced by one giant mega-corporation with vested interest in the attractions: Disney.

They wounded it with the 90's renovation. They will finally kill it in 2020.

But don't worry all of WDI is wearing retro EPCOT Center T-Shirts so it's cool.

Well they are bringing back the original entry plaza. And the rest of the concept art looks more 1982 than 2000. Plenty of trees and water also.

World Showcase sight lines are becoming compromised in every direction. It started with the Swolphin, then came Soarin' go away blue hanger, Guardians never go away green and blue box, and now gondola cables and cars behind the countries to the south with power distribution in the water.

I'm just happy they got rid of that massive globe shaped eyesore from the lagoon.
