My running around for a sports competition usually involves me driving 2 hours to get to the event, sitting for about 3-4 hours, watch my kid’s team compete for 2 1/2 minutes, wait for an awards ceremony, hope for the best, and then drive 2 or so hours home. :)
Glad T is doing well at volleyball even with the lack of practices. He is probably a natural when it comes to sports.

I hear ya! I had competitive swimmers for a couple of decades. They also did choral competitions. At least the choral lasted several minutes. At times depending on which event they were swimming they were in and out of the water in a matter of seconds only to wait hour or hours for their next event. They could easily spend 2 to 3 hours at a practice swimming lap after lap. From Band to Debate the majority of us support our kids in what they do. It is what makes us all tired, but a good tired. I am retired from all that now. I really really don't miss it. Thought I would but nope. 20 years was plenty.

Need some popcorn over in the rumors section.... the ban on smoking is 29 pages in! 🍿
🍿

I have yet to read it. I read WDWMagic Press News the same day along with the wagon stroller News and his News release on Ice.

I had posted Len's twitter about the Great Wagon debate so need to go there. Ice, knew why it had become dangerous and a liability to the CMs. But the smoking thread posts are so far off base. I can't read or participate. It has little to do with any of the enlargements or shaming happening though I am not a big fan of shaming anyone or rolling my eyes at them anymore than I would shame someone for their weight.

This decision this time is a totally different reason. If some members in that that thread had been spending a little less time up in arms and actually watched the news or read a newspaper once in a while over the past week, months or year they'd wouldn't be so willfully uninformed and drawn a different conclusion. It was right there so much prior to the Disney Press release. I give Disney Kudos for their forethought and planning ahead.

We usually go out for dinner on Friday nights too!

We do too. We did the Fish Fry all you can eat, the fish inside is about an inch thick, so yummy. I always slice the breading down the middle and open it up like a baked potato and only eat the meat. It comes with fries and slaw too. Skip the fries but eat the slaw. They are only around through Good Friday.

Had arthritis type issues for some years. Usually they eventually just check out and go into remission, but sometimes they come back for an uninvited visit . . . :cautious:

Blurg. Sorry. :(

Happy you were well enough to go to dinner and hope you brought home a doggy bag for Jack.

Seriously? and to think I spent my day doing yoga, walking, sewing and starting to climb Mount Laundry. Sometimes it stinks to be an adult!

Yeah...it does. I got 12,000 steps in today. I actually was able to sit down and watch a show I wanted to see this afternoon for almost a whole hour. My stuff is now all done! Woot! Time for sleep soon. This schedule needs to end soon, it is too nice to be sleeping late in the morning.
Grrrr.....

I watched Far from the tree on Netflix yesterday. A thought provoking documentary about families whose child turned out different from the norm.
It was based on a book one participant in the documentary wrote about being gay and how his parents struggled to accept the fact he wasn't "normal". He than looked at other situations where a child wasn't as parents expected, several with disabilities like autism and down syndrome.
I'm looking for it on Netflix and it doesn't seem to have it...how did you find it??

Tell that to the lady who won that lawsuit from McD’s because they dared serve hot coffee hot.
I read an article about that from the granddaughter and she said she wanted people to know that it wasn't just that the coffee was hot, but that it was above industry limits. Like...there is a certain temperature that it can be, and it was way above that...almost boiling, and that the damage it caused required surgery and she almost died. So yeah....of course you expect coffee to be hot, but I guess she didn't expect it to be THAT hot.

Sounds like the mall by me. I know a woman that used to work in our dead mall. She said it had always been busy. Then the rents started becoming ludicrous and stores just decided to move out. So less people went there, less foot traffic made it harder for other stores to make rent, so they left, creating even less foot traffic. It is sad to watch a mall die.
See, this is a concept I don't understand....landlords make their rent so high that no one can afford it, so the places sit empty. Then the landlord isn't making anything off all those empty spaces. Wouldn't it be better to lower the rent a bit to make it affordable? You'll make more by having all of the stores filled than by price gouging the few people for the few spaces that are occupied. I mean....if you charge $1000 a month per space and you have 100 spaces filled, you make way more than you do by having only 20 spaces filled and charging $5000 a month. It's the same with apartment buildings....empty apartments don't earn any rent, so you have to raise the prices on the ones that are filled to make the money, but then those empty out too. I'd rather earn $500 a month from 100 tenants than $1000 a month for 40 tenants.

I bet the 2.5 minutes makes it worth it! Whew, long day though!!!

I do want to say something positive here for once lol... I realized that with all the hectic days, what makes my schedule feel easy or exciting is that I have been extremely lucky with the parents on T’s sports teams.. my indoor team had their last game last weekend, we all went to lunch as a group after. Everyone had a great time, I was sad to see it end (but also relieved!)
I love the volleyball parents too.
Both of those teams are school teams though, so I know the parents.

With soccer, we have an amazing group right now which is almost unheard of in club soccer. Everyone is super friendly and we don’t have any parents who are ultra-intense or think their kid is a superstar.
Here’s a message from a half hour ago... I just now read it and cracked up 😂

I really feel so blessed to have such a great group, I hope the bulk of this team stays together next season!!!!!

A friend of mine who’s son is in the same club, but one birth year up, they’re leaving after this season.. not because of the club pulling shady stuff like they did this past Fall, but because she just can’t stand being around the team parents any more. She said they’re too intense and not friendly, and too many think their kid is the next Messi.
I’m hoping we stay on the same luck that we’ve been having when it comes to parents!
I don’t know anyone at baseball yet, but the coaches are great and were extremely welcoming, so I’m thinking there will be at least a few who are the same. :)
Having other parents you can relate to and who aren’t too competitive with each other is great. I cannot say the same sadly. I get along great with a couple of parents on my kid’s team. The other parents, eh. One is super annoying. She thinks her could should be the center of everything. There are 4 girls who can be flyers on the team, mine being one. Mine happens to be like a rubber band and is super flexible. Hers is not. The coach just added some skills to the pyramid stunt for my dd to do, which she can do fine. Last practice she missed said skill, and right away this mom says, K cannot hit that so the coach should take it out. I guess she missed the last bunch of times she did get the skill? I didn’t say anything. I try and ignore it and then watch her daughter screw up a few times in the routine. I don’t say a word. This is a team sport, if she wanted her kid to stand out so much, she should have had her on the gymnastics team. I actually get along better with those parents because there is no competition between them. I know one mom who won’t even watch practice because she cannot stand the “talk” among some. I could say something to the head coach, but I do not want to open a can of worms. I feel it better to just let it go and pray that my kid can succeed in her skills so that mom can eat her words. I know the coach wouldn’t have my dd do a skill she could not do. What that mom didn’t bother to realize was, if the bases are not properly doing their jobs, she doesn’t get in the right position to do hers. Whew. Got that off my chest. :)

Good news! I had made a boo boo, and thought it would be fun for all 4 of us to go to a concert together. 3 days after I bought the tickets, I got the email that DD' s current dance troupe would be competing that weekend. My bad. DD was...let's just say she wasn't happy with me, when I emailed saying she wouldn't be available on Saturday evening. Just got the schedule, and all 3 of her dances will be Sunday!
Good luck to her! What concert was it? My dd competes late tomorrow afternoon.
