Service has gone down.

I’m at the airport killing time so I thought I might ask if anyone else thinks so too. Honestly nothing in particular happened to us with a cm, I just feel that in general the cms are not as helpful, knowledgeable or friendly as they used to. The park also seems to be kind of filthy in some areas. Not a lot just some areas were kind of dirty. I don’t remember seeing a single piece of trash on the floor ever before, I did this whole trip at MK. And like I said just in general the cms were not friendly. Most look like they couldn’t be bothered. Cms were not as present as they used to be and when I did ask a few questions they couldn’t give me answers. My husband is in the service industry & he noticed it too. I was disappointed. Nothing that specifically affected us like I said just something I noticed.
Oh & I was underwhelmed by the not so scary party. That parade was very unexciting. The best part about the not so scary party was the hocus pocus thing & I’ve never watched that movie. Overall not worth the ticket price at all.

Some thoughts - I moved down here a while back and as a Passholder go to at least one of the parks once a week, often more. I really haven't seen anything different CM or cleanliness wise over time. Sometimes its just the luck of the draw of who you interact with. IN fact, some friends visited last weekend and we found the CM's bending over backwards to help one of their children who is disabled. Sorry about your experience. As to MNSSHP - I think it gets overhyped here in these forums - Both it, and MVMCP were specifically designed to bring locals into the parks to spend money when after many years lots of folks sort of stop going to the parks. As such, they are now overselling them and packing in the crowds and making them less than magical since both locals and resort guests are crowding in. You can watch the parade and stage show streamed on various cable channels nationwide. There are folks that live stream them on facebook and other media sites - so you don't really need to come to a park to see them. I did attend last week one night with friends and we had a good time but found it way too crowded for a Thursday night -- but it is also the last week of passholder discount tickets. The lines for the rides were longer than I have ever seen them for a special events night - mostly because I think word was out to the resort guests that the locals go to party, not ride the rides -- so, now, oversold, the resort guests pack in the rides and its really not magical anymore like it was a few years ago when you could walk on anything during the party. Is it worth the price, well, heck no. But it depends on if you want to experience Halloween at night at the park, or if you want to meet your local friends and dress up in costumes for a night. In which case, the value of a ticket is debatable.

Sorry, but we were amazed by service at our resort hotel that just astounded us.

DW has allergy issues with pine nuts, so she asked if the pesto chicken sandwich had any in it. Staff didn't know, so they called the manager. Manager called the kitchen. Kitchen chef hand-made a chicken-basil-tomato sandwich and delivered it to the grab-n-go in person. Grab-n-go manager (a) apologized for not knowing, (b) apologized for the delay, and (c) comped us the sandwich.

Decline in service? I don't think so. Your mileage may vary...

I have annual passes...I go a lot, maybe 25-30 days/yr. In my experience, the cast members have never been better.

You always have to look at things on a macro level when it comes to service. You’ll have a few less than perfect experience, but the job is very difficult and they do a fantastic job overall.

Obviously you weren't wearing the special Disney rose gold tinted lenses.

We have been going twice a year for the last 5 years, and have never had a bad experience with CM. Opposite really. Some went way out of their way to assist us, which I thought astounding due to the number of people they interact with daily.

Trash on the ground? I think that is a thing to complain about guests... Why would anyone throw trash on the ground when there are trash cans everywhere?

Sure it is someones job to pick it up....but its not someones job to throw it on the ground.

I think it also really depends on who you see and who you don't see. I know when I was there, certain people didn't seem interested in being there, but the ones who did really outweigh the ones who didn't.

But that’s my whole point. I’ve been 5 times in the last 10 years. It wasn’t until my last visit last week that I encountered cms like this.

no, I think it’s a thing to bring up as in decline in service. I’m sure guests have been littering since the beginning but the decline in cleanliness is due to cms not doing their job or less cms available to do the job. Either way, it’s still a decline in service.

What about the parks? Because that’s where I saw the decline I’m talking about.

I figured. I honestly remember you couldn’t turn without a cm being within talking distance. This time I struggled to find a cm when I needed one or had a question. And most couldn’t answer my question. Something as simple as where’s the fp entrance to illuminations. I mean if you’re a cm in Epcot, I feel like this is something you should know.

Yes

That's a very small sample compared to the 3650 days the parks have been open during that time. My wife and I have gone for 5 to 11 days every quarter for that same period and have run into quite a few excellent cast members each trip CP, ICP,and regular employees in many different roles custodial, entertainment, retail, QS and table dining.

So have I & I had really wonderful experiences with cms this time also but as I said... I felt that service has gone down in general. It was not my opinion only. My husband is in the convention/tourism industry & my son is going to school for the same thing. Hospitality is actually their industry & on our last day there we were having lunch at BOG & they both commented on it. It was the first any of us had brought it up but we had similar thoughts. As I said... it was not any particular incident. Just in general the cms seems indifferent, less knowledgeable, less present.
