Only 423 would think that everyone would know what gf stood for. At first I thought it meant good food, then I remember the things that she makes a habit of eating and forcing her family to eat and none of that can be identified as good food. I'm glad someone knew what it was.
Fine you're not invited to Easter dinner;) Smoked Hams, smoked tofu, mac and cheese, roast veggies, baked beans, mashed potatoes, more for us;)

Speaking of labtops. I will be in the market for one soon. I was thinking Lenovo. I didn't know if anybody had one of their computers. While I love my Mac and it has lasted for 7.5 years though the last .5 is pushing it, I kinda of expected it to last more for the money. They have also gone way up in price since I bought mine. I don't have any Google accounts so I'm not sure if a Chrome Book would require one.

I prefer a less cluttered desktop and I know that is not Windows but you can't have everything.

You can sit inside, we prefer outside because of said ukulele player and the view. It never really feels hot there.. not even Labor Day weekend when the temps/humidity were crazy high. Like smallworld said, it’s next to Captain Cook’s outdoor area.. mostly covered and allows for a nice breeze.

Something to consider anyway, I love Kona as well..it just has less of a tropical atmosphere.
It is so pretty with the water feature there as well. I like eating there because of the atmosphere and not really the food. If the tiki bar had something vegetarian I would love it.

Wow, I never even thought of that til now, we’ve had all menu items with the exception of the headhunters roll.. there’s nothing vegetarian on the menu! You should send an email to Disney about that. They should have at least one option. I wonder if you’d be allowed to order from Captain Cook’s or Kona (at least from the app menu), but eat the meal at Tiki Terrace in that situation...with a CM delivering it to you.

You can get a decent laptop on the basic DELL XPS ones..

It all depends on how heavy user you are.

Obviously the high end laptops are going to cost you an arm and a leg.

Yes, but I know cruise ships do not have them everywhere in the staff/crew areas, only in strategic places.
Also not inside the staterooms or sleeping quarters of the staff for the videos I've seen.
So you still depend on hearing when you're sleeping or inside your room.

Still, I'm pretty sure there are ways to use technology (like a portable alarm linked to the ships's system) to get the alarms in your room with flashing lights.

So now I'm curious about what communication provisions are available, to their hearing impaired guests in a crisis, onboard a cruise ship. I wonder what the cruise ship's emergency plans are, in those types of situations.

I did email after they opened. I basically got a response saying the menu was up to the chef and maybe they would change it in the future. Well it has been a couple of years and....crickets.... It isn’t that hard to leave the chicken out of a lettuce wrap and charge a couple of dollars less, or offer quinoa instead. Maybe veggie potstickers instead of pork.

They also have Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks for QS breakfast. I always thought that was great--that you don't have to go to a TS restaurant at the Poly, if you just want to quickly stuff your face with Tonga Toast,, without waiting for service and seating, etc. :hungry::happy:

Tonga Toast is surprisingly not on our wish list. I know, crazy! But it just doesn't appeal to us

Yeah, there’s quinoa on so many different menus in WDW, definitely should have it or some kind of black bean concoction for the lettuce cups. That’s disappointing to hear their response, I can’t imagine that you’re the only one who’s brought it up.

I had no idea what tonga toast was when I read the references to it in this thread. I googled it and then selected "images". It looks thick and appealing to me. I like French toast. I like bananas and banana flavored stuff ...like yogurt or banana bread. Would tonga bread be kinda like banana flavored French toast??? Does that question even make any sense to anyone??? :)

Yes in a way like French toast but so much more--it's delicious with bananna slices in the middle of soudough bread, battered and deep fried--and then dusted with cinnamon sugar. Not exactly low calorie, but you only live once! :p

Well, everyone. I'm sorry to report that I will be deleting my account tonight. Short explanation. - I have been visiting the political board too often and my responses to what I consider toxic posts from the far right on the recent school shooting are now being deleted. I don't play that.

It has been a lot of fun chatting and sharing stories with all of you over the years. You are a really warm and wonderful community. I wish you all the best, and if anyone wants to stay in touch, you can find me on Facebook under my name, Buddy Thomas.

May your futures be filled with great health, great wealth, and many more great trips to Disney. Love you all.

Sometimes the Search is easier than others as I try different phrases, but I did find the pic's of you cutting tile for Rise.

Yep, definitely remember that...

And the one on the stairway, too...

And, if you remember, the mosaic artist was from Chicago and donated his talents. He's the dude on the ladder in the first pic. His name is Tracy Van Duinen.

The pics we're talking about are probably on my old "Crackberry" Torch. I still have it, but it hasn't been brought to life in a very long time. Need to remember to do that. Still a lot of old pics on that puppy...!

ETA...
And yes, I probably posted that pic(s) on the old Disney site who's forums are now long-defunct.
