Consider this one vote for Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. I was very disappointed to see that leave DCA.
I would LOVE for Aladdin to make its way to Disney World but I would probably bet on the Frozen Musical coming here which wouldn't be too bad honestly.

I really liked Aladdin at DCA and don't feel at all compelled to rush to see Frozen there. But having since seen Aladdin on Broadway a few months ago (it's VERY well done and really enjoyable), I'd love to see a representation again in theater form at the park.

I liked the suggestion of PATF, a great musical that has been under untilized, but still seems quite popular.

Plus it is the most 'American' musical, even if it doesn't fit a MO Main Street theme.

I'm hoping against one of the cruise ship style Revues.

That's true.

PatF is possibly the closest in time and setting to the Main Street.

Peter Pan, Alice and Mary poppins all are closer in time period, but are all in the UK

My guess is they'll make a show for one of the more recent Disney musicals that they haven't built an attraction for yet at WDW - such as princess and the frog, tangled, or moana

The Aladdin show at DCA was amazing, but a BIG reason that show was so good waa because of Genie and the flexibility he had to keep the jokes topically relavent... it's a BIG reason I'm happy to watch the Frozen Sing-a-long multiple times per trip (those Arrendale Historians are so amazingly entertaining!).

I love the music from Hunchback, but no chance that comes. Beauty and the Beast is such a good show with such good music! Would love to see them cut the Hollywood Studios version and put a "proper" version in this theater...

Hi guys, it's Jack from DSNY Newscast here. I do read these forums and threads, and despite not being a member until only recently, I have actually monitored them for quite a long time, as it's got some amazing discussion by really dedicated Disney fans.

Obviously some areas you guys are very clearly more well-versed than me, and probably have many more sources within WDI and Disney in general. But just to defend the reason why I did the Monsters Inc video, is because I was trying to explain it was a potential far-off in the distance plan of WDI, and I did say in the video, it may not even happen.

But, what I'm trying to achieve with DSNY Newscast, is a simple, concise news roundup for the more casual Disney fans, who do not have the wealth of knowledge that you all clearly have. And then hopefully it will grow the community to the stage, where people will become more and more interested and you'll see new members on forums like this as well.

Thanks for your feedback, and no harm done :)

Have a great day!
Jack

Hi, Jack!

Since you do credit your source, and good for you for doing so, I have no qualms in pointing you to and encouraging you to keep an eye on the rumor tracker here and follow the links to the discussions. When the insiders on this forum say something is unlikely, even if the rest of the internet is abuzz with the rumor... then it's very much unlikely.

WRT to Monstropolis: It's more than being far off and may never happen: The specific rumor of changing RnRC, which is on two rails, to a Door Coaster, which hangs from a single rail, is an impossibility as an 'overlay'. You'd need to rip out the old and build a new coaster. That's why that part of the rumor got a lot of negative pushback here because it's not a possibility as an overlay, it's an impossibility. There's a difference between a rumor and outright misinformation.

Thanks, and I’ll make sure to keep an eye on the Rumor Tracker for all of your takes on the rumours circulating!

I thought it seemed highly unlikely that an overlay like that would take place, but I had heard that a very simplistic overlay was discussed, with no change to the track. But I don’t think WDI would move forward with such a quick and dirt overlay.

But then again, look at what they’re doing at TGMR and what they did to the Maelstrom? I wouldn’t put anything past them at this point.

I could see Disney wanting to develop the Animation Courtyard area into something with a lot more appeal!

This was the biggest surprise during my last trip. I want to experience every single attraction for myself, so I agreed to go with a friend. I knew I'd know the songs, but I laughed out loud so many times...was like a comedy show in parts. I went again and it was even better!

I know a lot of votes have been for Aladdin, but i would be surprised to see a Hercule's stage adaption here. There's been a lot of talk in the industry referring to a Hercules show, but nothing from Disney's theatre group... would be a very cool stage adaption imo.
The Disney Cruise Line had a Hercules stage show. So there is music and costumes somewhere in a warehouse.

I love the music from Hunchback, but no chance that comes.
Disney workshopped a stage version of The Jungle Book at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago a few years back. Perhaps it could be used for something like this new theatre.
Disney also had a workshop of a Hunchback stage show a few years back. It relied heavily on the Hugo novel (w/ Frolo going back to the head priest of Notre Dame) and was quite dark and adult in tone. I seriously doubt they'd be placing it in the Main St. Theater, but it's definitely worth checking out.

I do wonder once it's open if it will be like the Hyperion as act as incubator for new productions or it they will develop something new and exclusive for it.

Hey Jack! For the purposes of full disclosure I do indeed watch and enjoy your podcast for news (yes I have subscribed). I have never had an issue with it as you do source where you find your information which I think is great. There are some other sites that do not do that which I am not in favor of at all.

Having been a fan of Disney for several years now - WDW specifically - I know one absolute truth: this site is the site for the most accurate news and rumors. The insiders on the boards here are top notch. I religiously await posts from people like @marni1971, @articos, @Magic Feather, @WDW1974, @MansionButler84, @Lee and @TheVisionarySoul (my apologies to an others I might have missed). They are very plugged in and provide the discussion forums with the most up-to-date and accurate information about Disney than any other site out there.

Also, @danlb_2000 does excellent work with finding permits ahead of time. He was key, along with several other members, in figuring out the Disney skyliner well before any other site reported it. And posters such as @MisterPenguin are great with creating flyover maps (especially with Epcot) showing how and where future attractions/rides/buildings will be going.

If you want to keep an excellent podcast with impeccably sourced information, this is THE site for it!
