When do you set them out? I'm assuming that it's after the last frost. I love this idea, would be nice to look outside and feel like I'm somewhere south.

I put out the 5 palms in big massive planters sometime in the month of May. They are pretty hearty. Week depends on when IKEA gets a shipment in, very hit or miss. The Palms they had last week were so tall and healthy. I put two one one end of patio and the other 3 a bit more raised up on the other end of the patio. While I'm not that close to neighbors living areas of their backyards it offers us total privacy without having to plant tall bushes, these only require some water. I also plant some low maintenance annual flowers at the base. Right now the ones out there could be used for Ash Wednesday pretty quickly.

I think the reason they use the word "Climate" as opposed to "weather" is because weather is what it's like at any given point each day...the weather can change in 5 minutes. Whereas climate is the pattern of weather over a long period of time...so like...winters being mild that year in a climate that is normally harsh. Or the amount of annual snowfall decreasing over time. It has to do with weather PATTERNS rather than the weather on any given day....if that makes sense.

I understand the terms and weather patterns. The problem I have with the apostles of 'Gore' theories is the majority of scientists do not support the theory and neither do I. In a ten year span we've had average, very hot and very chilly summers. To me that is just weather patterns of the year that have always been ever changing. A mild December brought in the hype of global warming to our region. Now everyone that was pointing to Lake Michigan say see there isn't ice a month ago is zipping it as it freak'n cold and golly gee there is ice. Some years our leaves start falling in September, 3 years ago we had many leaves up till through ThanksGiving. In years that we have below normal temps and constant snow cover we loose more deer than typical. Yes it is sad but I put more stock in the circle of life than I do with the Gore theory.

Like I said, I am likely never to be a warrior for spreading the word about Global Warming, Climate Change gloom and doom. The weather patterns pendulums have swung in each direction in the half century I've been on this earth. IMO the pengulums will keep swinging each way for the next 50 years.

That's just too cold for anybody.

My DD and I were laughing this morning. 18 just didn't seem as cold. I went out to shovel the snow, 18, cloudy and I was happy the wind chill wasn't -20. This afternoon it is 21 and a feel like 7, the sun is almost peeking through the white clouds. It amazingly feels acceptable.
Go figure.

Now if it goes up to 38 some day and drops to 21 I'll be having a FLORIDA explosion all over again.

Have people never heard of water conservation. No one needs to be that damn clean. As I type this I can hear their washing machine chugging away. Shouldn't bother me, but, all that waste of water seems many levels of wrong and unnecessary to me. OK, minor rant over!

I'm not familiar with the East Coast practices. Do you guys not have water reclamation sites in your area?

now, these things aren't as scary as the stories of millions of birds and fish dying in mass in single events.. D:[/QUOTE]

Oy.

Yes. If we look at the amount of animals that lost their life in the BP Gulf Oil Spill earlier this decade, animal loss is tragic. Still we fuel our cars, tractors, cruise ships, boats, fly in airplanes. I have a car and I vacation via an airplane, ride buses and trains despite the vast amount of animals that die because of the fuel/oil needed. We lost 48 million turkey and chickens in 2015 due to widespread disease. I still eat chicken.

I'm not a big fan of instilling fear into the population to push and agenda. I remember well how the Oprah, I'm not going to eat Meat-Mad Cow Disease took a huge hit on the livelihood of so many ranchers.

Like I said yesterday, we land on other sides of the coin on this topic, we will have to agree to disagree.

At least he has the best hygiene among his male buddies:inlove:

Ha! Funny how that goes with teen boys and bathing. Mine went in the direction of a 30 minute shower was great, only ending when the hot water tank was empty. I did not install a tankless, continuous hot water heater. I never knew my son not to take at least 2 showers a day and remember he was a year round competitive swimmer. Chlorine was his oxygen. :cyclops: Chlorine Likely saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars in acne products x2 also. :p

Good that you will get the car fixed. I'm worried about your Mom, a side hit is really bad. I speak from experience, I was a passenger and was T boned on my side of the car. I had to be cut out of it. I now have my collar bone up near my neck. The guy sued us. He ran a stop light. Don't let that happen to you or your dear Mother. The guy didn't win, but it was a hassle none the less.
nope, the boss of the kid paid straightaway to the insurance company for the repairs.
The kid was clearly in the blame.. hell.. he didn't even had a permit to drive.
