That depends on where you celebrate Mardi Gras. I love Mardi Gras, but I wouldn't be caught dead in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras day.

My daughter graduated from Tulane University in N.O. I had to force her to go to Mardi Gras in her senior year telling her that if she spent that many years there and didn't go, she would kick herself in later years. She went, got her pockets picked of $20.00 and her school I.D. and, now that I reflect, an inordinate amount of beads. Hmmmm!

Anyway, just before Mardi Gras each year we would receive a letter from Tulane telling us that if our child were to be arrested during Mardi Gras, they would pay the bail and that we would be charged for it on our next monthly billing. Liberal School, don't you think? Or just one used to being located in New Orleans and wanted to avoid empty classrooms the following day.

Third time planning to go to Niagara Falls to see the lights. Third time Mother Nature said nuh-uh!

Darn it all, I even had our passports in my purse in anticipation of crossing over to see your lights too - and maybe to dine at Olive Garden. No sense killing ourselves though.

The roads are crazy slippery. My cousin and I were out Open House cruising, and a pickup truck slid backwards down a very mild hill and nearly took us out.

Two words people - SNOW TIRES!

How can they legally do this? If your child is University age, then he/she is an adult in the eyes of the law. How are you held financially responsible for their actions?

Still listed as a dependent for tax purposes so it is kind of gray. Under 18 years old is simple, over that is the complicated part. Assuming I'm paying for her college education by selling my spleen, do I want her sitting in a cell instead of getting an education? I didn't have to test it and I'm sure some parents would have said, don't pay it. It actually is more of a convenience thing for the parents. Do I want to be called in the middle of the night in Vermont to find out that my daughter was arrested in New Orleans and "someone" needs to post bail or is it easier to just let the University take care of it and bill me for it.

Remember most College aged kids are not even old enough to buy alcohol. If you are not even 21 then someone needs to help them out, even if they are "legally" an adult.

I've always found it odd how there are different age brackets for "adulthood". It should be standardized....take a test or SOMETHING!!!
