Our trick or treating hours are from 5-8 and we are getting rain. Poor kids, hope it stops by then.

I guess our town doesn't really have hours for trick or treating but we went from 5 until 7:30 pm. A little early of a start time than usual but I figured since it was Saturday people would probably be ready...and they were.

My best friend and her 3 year old daughter came over to visit me a couple of years out of high school. I got my old barbies out for the daughter to play with, and she was very concerned that the barbies did not wear panties. You are not alone. She also thought they needed "Sunday shoes".

At least, good ol' Ken always had his built-in underwear...although that concerned me even more, frankly.

I didn't know that was not allowed in some schools. Our kids can dress up until middle school. That makes sense to me, we couldn't dress up after elementary. It sure was fun for us, in the black ages!

My son's school doesn't allow it but my daughters' school does. My son's school is only K-1 so I'm thinking the teachers just don't want to be responsible for keeping track of pieces of costumes all day or helping them put them on. Either that, or they don't want some of the little ones getting scared? I really don't know the rationale. They still celebrate Halloween and have a party.

Okay, I'm out. It's crazy to be talking to myself!

Not crazy at all! I do it all the time. A lot of the time if I didn't talk to myself, I would have no one to talk to.

Parties in general for me just aren't fun. I never went to school dances. Not even to prom. I went to one event my senior year and had a miserable time; just too many people. Last week was Homecoming week, and I was like, "Oh that sounds terrible; why would I want to do that?" to every event. I have a social life, but most of it tends to be in small groups. I went out with a group of about 8 people including myself the other night, and that was big for me. A lot of my social life tends to be with 1-3 other people at a time, and I like one-on-one time with people. And then I'm done with them and I go home and watch Netflix all by myself.

You sound like a fellow introvert. I completely understand.

I've been having a bit of unexplained anxiety lately so I'm cutting out caffeine to see if that helps.

Day 1 8:50 am I've been up for 3 hours. No coffee just a naturally decaffeinated tea. No anxiety but my eyes want to close and I can't stop yawning This will not be easy. Failure imminent?

Currently 80 degrees here, getting down to about 70 tonight.

Our Halloween was much much warmer than it usually is. What a pleasant surprise! Made standing on the sidewalk, waiting for the little ones to run from house to house, much more enjoyable.

No candy here either, but that's because there are only a handful of kids in our neighborhood, so they go trick-or-treating elsewhere.

Every year, I buy candy to hand out and every year, we aren't home. We both like to take the kids trick or treating. I feel a little guilty about that but I figure when they are older, we will take our turn of sitting at home and handing out the candy. If I could just remember not to buy the treats...lol Oh well, I guess I will just have to eat them. It's a tough job...

Hi? I'm trying to enter the chit chat thread without making any loud noises.
I'm here. Me thinks.
I made a post this morning before my day turned insane (two kids, three costumes).
I just logged on again with the kids and the man fast asleep and you all have done three pages since my post this morning!
I have no point. I was just thinking maybe this might be a relaxing place to just talk to adult people who like to have fun and step away from work for a minute now and then during the day.
I've been looking for that for a while.
So Hi. I'm Sabrina. I love Disney trips. Found it quite by accident when my husband (then boyfriend) and I were invited to a wedding. Why? I asked....would adults go to Disney? Been hooked ever since.

Hey Sabrina....I am so glad that you made your way over here. I'm fairly new to this thread but have really loved it. I look forward to getting to know you better.

This year knowing an all day rain was coming I bought more snacks than candy. Cheetos, M&M Cookies, Minion Roll Ups and a big box of red twizzler licorice. We have a chunk of trick or treaters that arrive in my neighborhood by the vanload & even their parents have bags.

For those who drive in from out of town I bought the Twizzlers. Easily 20 people roll out of the full size vans and invade the neighborhood. Most of the families I know or at least recognize. When I see 10-20 at my door step and the parents are trick or treating it is an immediate read flag to not a community event. Took a couple years but I caught on.

If some kids didn't get driven to another neighbourhood, they wouldn't be able to trick or treat. We can walk everywhere in our neighbourhood and it's mostly single-house dwellings, so we just stay here. But I'm thinking of the people that live out in the country where houses are few and far between. Or those that live downtown where there are a lot of apartment buildings that they can't access.

Now, parents trick-or-treating? That's just weird. I do have a bag of treats the whole time in my hand but that's just because the kids have small little buckets and when they get full, they dump them into larger bags that we carry for them. (Fools, I know. ) But I have never gone to a house and asked for candy. That seems hilarious to me. I can't believe parents have the gall to do that!

Well... I've only been here for a half a month myself... and I would LOVE to always be all Princess and Manners, however there have been a few posts where I've just needed to chime in and be like all GRRRR

I like what you say here....
This is going to totally sound dumb.... BUT
I always feel like the start of a new month is a fresh start. My goal for November is to be more open. Stop talking, Sabrina!!!! Let people approach me with their thoughts.....listen. So.............that's kind of more to do with my life than with this thread but maybe some of you are thinking the same way? I just always love a FIRST of a month. I feel like I can erase stuff and start over.

I like your style already! I see each new week that way. Yesterday, I spent more time thinking about how I'm going to try to look more closely for the joys in the little things in life and share them with others. I find I end up spending my time getting sucked into other people's negativity (not here but in general).

Doesn't sound dumb to me! It sounds like a nice idea - sort of a reset button, right?

For me right now, time has kind of stalled, as I'm in the middle of a divorce (not sure how far back you've read), and the process has been anything but easy, especially since we're still living in the same house.

The biggest contention is custody of our DD, as my husband basically wants to call all the shots, with some of his demands being completely unreasonable. But I digress…I think here is where I say to myself "Stop talking, catmom!"

Oh, @catmom46, how I feel for you! I am divorced (now re-married) and my new husband is too. I know just how difficult this can be, especially with the kids. Wish I had some great advice to offer but I don't. So I will just send some warm thoughts your way today.

Good morning everyone! Busy Saturday around my house with Halloween and all. So, I didn't get back to you all.

And then yesterday, after church, I went to the farmer's market and rested for much of the day until we watched The Shining in the evening, which I found to be a very disappointing film. (There is clearly something wrong with me.) I have a full blown cold. Ick! But I'm sure the low key day yesterday helped.

So now...it's off to the races. Time to play ketchup and see what all you lovely people have been up to.

Speaking of half kidding, I've been on the divorce diet. I don't know how much weight I've lost, but it's enough that my pants are all pretty loose now. Obviously it's not for everyone, though. OK, no more divorce talk, I promise!

How much does your ex weigh? You are about to lose all that too!

You can do it, Stay strong! I give up coffee once in a while just to clean the gunk out of my system

I've seen them at the mall. those, leggings and day glow colors I admit I do wear leggings. I have heavy fleece ones for the bitter cold, lighter weight ones for less cold days (I wear them under sweat pants) and some fashion ones as the give more coverage than tights. They also don't run.

Leggings are my best friend. I never wear them alone as pants though.
