That's a really good idea to donate your leftovers to the food pantry.

I bought 8 bags of the snack size bars, and I didn't count how many were in each bag. But let's say there were 15 per bag; hubby gave out 6 bags so that's 90 kids last night. The other two bags I'll give to one of my chummies at work; she loves Kit Kats.
The left over pencils are going away for next year and because the weather was so nice and we had extra kids I ran out of raisins and wound up tossing a few coins into the bags of the last few kiddos. they were older so I'm sure they didn't mind.

Good morning and happy Sunday. I don't know how this happened but I'm going to have a mostly relaxing day. It's my day off from working out, I have left overs so no cooking, the boys cleaned my kitchen last night and the laundry's caught up. I do have to run to 2 grocery stores but I'm getting myself a few goodies while food shopping so that's not stressful. I love goodie shopping:hungry: It's also going to be warmer today. I feel great just thinking about it. I may start looking for a new sewing machine as mine is on it's last legs and it will cost twice as much to fix it than to get a new one.:(:(:( I really like the one I have and my dh saved up for it when we first got together. At the time it was state of the art, lots of bells and whistles for the time. It's still worth a few dollars even it's current condition at one place towards a trade in. I might have to do a little thinking about what I really want. I'm in no major rush. I may wait to see if I can snag a really good deal before Christmas, if not it may wait for quite a while.

I have a Brother sewing machine that's probably 20 years old now. It's a very good machine, but I haven't used it in maybe 12 years. I go through phases with hobbies. At one point, I did a lot of sewing on it, and then just lost interest. (I only sewed very basic items with simple, straight seams, on sturdy materials. Never used anything like silks or other more advanced sewing techniques.) So, it's just been sitting in the box now for ages and if I decided to use it again, it would need an overhaul. I just don't have the energy to get back into sewing after working and commuting all week. Many years ago, that was never an issue; I've always worked full-time and commuted into the city, but I guess age catches up with the best of us sometimes! ;) If I ever win the lottery and don't have to work full-time anymore, I'd get back into hobbies like sewing. :)

My child's school does not allow any celebration of Halloween :(

Our condo community does not allow trick or treating........ "any homeowner allowing trick and treat seekers to enter the building via disabling the lock system will be fined"

wise people. When you think about it, Halloween is the only time of the year people wear a mask and can get away with it. Otherwise, one would be running for the hills.

I need clothes sewed. I lost a button on a pant and a sleeve ripped on a long sleeved shirt (okay so the shirt is like 10 or more years old but still).

Apparently, the new coywolves are flourishing. Definitely one you don't want to meet. A cross between a wolf and a coyote.

We were talking about Kit Kats yesterday. We deemed them to be the best choice of chocolate candies. Not too many people dislike Kit Kats. While everyone likely has one they like more few would say ewe.

Hi? I'm trying to enter the chit chat thread without making any loud noises.
I'm here. Me thinks.
I made a post this morning before my day turned insane (two kids, three costumes).
I just logged on again with the kids and the man fast asleep and you all have done three pages since my post this morning!
I have no point. I was just thinking maybe this might be a relaxing place to just talk to adult people who like to have fun and step away from work for a minute now and then during the day.
I've been looking for that for a while.
So Hi. I'm Sabrina. I love Disney trips. Found it quite by accident when my husband (then boyfriend) and I were invited to a wedding. Why? I asked....would adults go to Disney? Been hooked ever since.

Welcome, we are a pretty cool group. Not too crazy....:)

Glad you are going to have a relaxing day. Isn't it funny how sometimes it is more expensive to fix something than to buy new? It is kind of crazy. I wanted to reupholster my sofa and love seat as the structure of them are great but the fabric is worn (over 10years old), but it would cost more than buying new ones. So as of right now I still have the sofa and love seat, mostly because I decided to put the money towards a Disney trip. I can live with worn furniture, but can't live without a Disney trip! o_O:)

I'm not great at sewing, I can do straight seams and stuff like that but I don't have the paitence for sewing. I wish I could make clothes but I always had problems with pants.

Ironically, I love doing counted cross-stitch and crochet. I find that it is relaxing. I haven't done it in awhile, as I have spent more and more time on the internet. I really should get back to my cross-stitching. I have a project in the works, a Disney one. The trouble is it is on a dark fabric so I need really good light for it, and our living room lights don't give me the best light. Daytime light is better but that pesky job keeps me busy during the day.

In our middle school we don't ever tell them they can or can't dress up. Usually there are a few kids that do dress up but no one did this year. Our student council has a couple contests: a game outside for everyone during our homeroom, and also a scary scarecrow contest, and a couple Halloween guessing contests (guess the weight of a couple pumpkins and guess how many candy corns where in a container).

On a side note, our mail was just delivered and the mail lady was dressed up as Minnie Mouse!
That's great, we don't have personal mail delivered, we walk down the street to a row of mailboxes.:(

First of all congratulations to you and Mr. Bets for your efforts to control the type 2 diabetes. My hubby is a Type 2, but years ago dropped over 50 pounds, and has worked out for years in the boxing ring. He has been completely off medication for 3 years now, and it's all due to his determination and sacrifice.

As for posting hours, generally our area will post them, but this year they didn't--they sort of "suggested" (and I only read this in the local newspaper a day ago) that they run between 5:30 - 7:30 and to use judgement beyond that time. I would prefer they just stick to a beginning and end time. There are some kids out every year later on, that should not be out and (some--a small minority) of them take part in vandalism. I just think it's easier all around if reasonable time boundaries are set.
Thank you, my blood work came out really good this time, except for Cholesterol. Guess it's time for bacon and eggs to go. I'll start doing an egg white omelet, with peppers and onions. I just 1/2 slice bacon for me. Hubby eats a ton more meat and beef, and his cholesterol is much better than mine. Congratulations, to your hubby on the exercise and weight loss. We had to drop pounds too. It's a struggle to keep it off, but my bike is helping with that. I rode again yesterday, and I'm taking today off. Every other day seems right for me.

You crack me up! ;) Now, don't you feel just a teenie bit bad that you're not handing out candy to the little treaters at your house? Didn't you go out trick or treating as a kid? (Then again, knowing you, you probably didn't! :hilarious: ) When I was little, it was such a big day to me and I have fond memories of trick or treating, so I feel compelled to carry on the tradition for the little ones. Besides, I always buy extra candy that I know will be left over--and will make it's way to my mouth! :hungry: :joyfull:
I love the little kids, we had one little girl , carrying a pumpkin to hold the candy in. Hubby told her to grab a handful of suckers, and pick out a bag of chips. She looked at the size of chips, and her pumpkin, and told hubby. "I'm full." I love the fun things kids say!. Daddy carried her chips for her. :joyfull:

I looked online and 3 other endings were shot in addition to the theatrical release version, so I must have watched the one where he doesn't die. But apparently none of the endings match the ending of King's original short story!

And it's OK to disagree Betty! Otherwise how would we ever get to the truth? :)
Thanks! I can't imagine what King's original ending must have been. The movie was scary enough for me, without King's ending.
