Yeah, I wouldn't want to be on that board. They are going to hear about it, no matter what they do. And honestly, I can see both sides from the privacy standpoint, but the really outrageous arguments that guys are going to pretend to be transgender so they can get into girls' locker rooms, are not really valid. No one is going to go to those lengths...to have to dress as a female every day of their high school career, etc, not to mention the stigma attached to being trans would make you a target for bullying. Who is going to consider it worth the effort to go through that just to see some scantily clad girls? And I would imagine there would have to be some evidence of gender confusion long before it was an issue...they aren't just going to accept someone who has never had any history of it to suddenly say they are transgender and let them use the girls' bathroom. And the majority of girls wouldn't lie about it to get into the boys locker rooms as most guys are more than willing to show the goods anyway...they wouldn't NEED to lie about it. But that all being said, I think it might be safer for the students involved to have their own space just because they WILL be targets. It would be hard enough being "different" without wearing the proverbial target on your back. I really just have so much empathy for them. I can't imagine how hard it must be in that situation.
