Yes, because this is the first time in Disney history that they've made live-action remakes of animated films.

Ah, but those were done sparingly, my friend. Nowadays, it seems like we're getting another unneeded remake every single year:

2014--Maleficent
2015--Cinderella
2016--The Jungle Book
Pete's Dragon
2017--Beauty and the Beast

See what I mean?

I wouldn't call Maleficent a remake, per se. Pete's Dragon doesn't count, as that was a live-action film with some animated stuff, and there were quite a bit more remakes of live-action films in the 90s, including Herbie, The Parent Trap, The gy D.A., The Muppets Christmas Carol, Muppets Treasure Island, and possibly more I'm forgetting.

EDIT: Seriously, autocensor? It's a good thing Scooby-Doo isn't owned by Disney, or we'd never be able to discuss his best friend! Similarly, let's hope they don't install carpeting in any of the resorts.
