My SIL went over to watch some tennis at Wimbledon, and got caught in the heat wave. We are anticipating more usual weather, so will have rain gear. We are also spending time in Ireland and Scotland, so will plan on layering. A last minute weather check will make me decide on my last top to pack - warm = another short sleeved, lightweight top Cool = another long sleeved lightweight knit.

Best wishes for your upcoming trip. I traveled to Ireland back in the early 90s, and really enjoyed it. It was a group of 6 of us; and we started out over in Dublin for a few days. Then we drove west over to Galway, the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, and south to County Cork and County Kerry (counties where my grandparents grew up). The countryside was gorgeous. (Dublin was amazing, but I still prefer the rolling hills, farm areas, and ocean cliff views of Ireland.) Note: if you enjoy your coffee and you're in Dublin, the best place to get excellent coffee is at Bewley's. You can get great tea all over Ireland, but not so much for coffee (at least back then.)

I don't play golf, but if you do, there are some incredibly scenic golf courses in Ireland.

The best meal we had was at the Medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle, and they had some talented performers who sang traditional Irish songs. Oh, I also remember I had a glass of something called, "Irish Mead" (before they served dinner) and it made me a bit light-headed and silly! Careful if you drink the Mead!

I think they got rid of most of their locations. We used to have a few in MA, but I haven't seen one in years now. It was probably the only store in the big mall that I actually enjoyed, aside of the book store. But of course, they also got rid of the mall bookstore, so unless I absolutely have to buy something that can only be found in a mall, I avoid malls completely now.

It amazes me with this shooting in TN the amount people who said they heard "pop, pop, pop" and ran to the window. Why are you running to the window! Prayers to those injured.

Actually, I confess that I'd probably run to the window, too, to see what was going on if I heard shots. Never been around guns before, so I'd probably be curious. I think that (in the moment) curiosity briefly took center stage, before survival sense kicked in. Regardless, it's a tragic news story today, and as you said, prayers to the injured.

@ajrwdwgirl , my goodness, more outstanding pictures!! They're all wonderful, and the one that caught my attention the most is (oddly . . .) the stairs for the Underground! I've ridden subways and all kinds of transportation all my adult life, and I've never seen subway stairs modeled after pictures of the trains! What an absolutely cool design idea!

P.S. The food! The pictures of the food!!!!

Why do I have the feeling Canadians, the same people that cannot spell favourite correctly, have now gone and confused the word amusing with admire. I guess it does start with the same letter and they both have an "m" in it, however, they are not the same thing.

Yes she would! She tries to cater to different interests in the group (and does a great job at that), and on occasion, she throws in a snow picture to make me smile! (Of course, I'm the only one who ever likes those particular piccies!! )

Thanks, I felt like a total tourist taking pictures of the stairs. I actually had to wait until it was almost clear of people, which was difficult because it was a busy station.

Except for the "Zed" thing. The letter "Z" is pronounceable and doesn't even sound like any other letter in the alphabet. What is that all about? Do they have a Zed-oo in that park? I also have been puzzled by the phrase... "he/she is going to University" instead of "the University". It must be a specific University, not just whatever one they are near in the morning.

I think I've often heard British people say similar things like, "He/She is going to University." They don't include "the" before University. So maybe it's the fault of the British people who emigrated to Canada many years ago, and brought their fractured English with them..

As for the Zed thing, I haven't a clue. Perhaps @JenniferS can explain that one!
