Our Grand Turk evening found us visiting the Thrill Theater to see Spongebob before dinner. There was actually a line (and each time SB played there was :bored:) but we only had to wait one viewing though. The theater seats 24 people a session. On other days for Happy Feet and Planet Earth we had the place to ourselves. :)

Finally a poolside movie was playing my daughter could see, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but of course it was running at the same time as our dinner. Oh well. Couldn't pass up a good meal! :geek:

Our wait staff was phenomenal as usual. Our head waiter took our order and told my daughter, "I have chicken for you to take to room" and left. We kinda looked at each other like why is he sending chicken with us? Especially since we didn't order any! Our meal this evening was shrimp cocktail for an app, a pork chop topped with a caramelized vidalia onion glaze, fried apples, bacon mac and cheese, and ice cream sundaes (butter pecan for me, plain chocolate for her) for dessert. :hungry:

While waiting for our entrees, my daughter says "The main waiter (young man from Bosnia) sure is cute!" I made her repeat it and all I could spit out was "Yes, he's a handsome fellow." (I really didn't know what to say. :joyfull: ) Every time he had come to our table she would stare at her plate or the wall next to her. This evening she was having a heck of a time cutting her pork chop. (Little Miss Independent doesn't need mommy's help. ) The cute waiter notices and offers to cut it for her. Of course I said she thought that would be just wonderful! :angelic: She would not look at him but I figured for sure she was going to slide under the table when he left. :hilarious:

The head waiter brought our desserts and said again "I have chicken for you." And after trying to politely turn him down he repeated it and left. So after enjoying our ice cream he comes to our table and takes a balloon out of his pocket and makes.....a poodle! My daughter says "That's a poodle!" The waiter says "It's a chicken." She says "No...that's a poodle!" He says "In my country, this is a chicken." :D Too funny!

After dinner they had cleared all the deck chairs from the pool area and had a Caribbean party happening. The cruise director and staff were teaching people different dances such as the mambo, etc. We watched for a bit but I heard my bed calling. Having a 7 a.m. room service order placed and needing to be off to our onshore excursion at 8 a.m., we went to sleep. :cat:

TO BE CONTINUED (I'm still trying to catch up) with Anaconda, "Happy" and Thank God I'm with a nurse.

Never be sorry about the meat protein, I enjoy it vicariously through other people.

One thing I really like about you, is how considerate you are of others. I've known a number of vegetarians over the years, and some (not all) are really "preachy" about their beliefs, with non-vegetarians. I respect and support an individual's right to choose what's most appropriate for them. Apparently, you do as well.

You were up before me, I was up at 545. I fell so far behind in my laundry. I had ten loads. I can't wait until the clothes get smaller, jeans and sweatshirts take up so much room. Need summer. I took it all to the laundromat when they opened at 7am and was home with everything but the whites folded and sorted. Done.

Then I celebrated my Birthday the rest of the day. :D

Happy Belated Birthday!!!  Your birthday meal and your gifts looked great! I like the Disney books, too, and that reminds me--I've got to get the latest Birnbaum book. I pick one up every year. I know most of the information inside already, but they're such attractive books with nice pictures and drawings. The history book you have also looks great. I have a Barnes & Noble gift card (from my birthday back in Feb.), and I think I might head up there today after church, and go buy a Disney book! ;)

Will do. This will be my third time at Aulani, so I'm already pretty familiar with the area already.

We're thinking of climbing Diamond Head, doing Pearl Harbor again, and then other than that, don't have much in mind, other than that I want to go snorkeling. And of course, doing the pool and beach and Aulani. I want to more hiking and such, not as much driving around, more activity-based. My brother too. My parents enjoy driving around and looking at beaches; we prefer activities.

Climbing Diamond Head sounds spectacular! (In the big picture) not many people can take a vacation in the Hawaiian Islands, and you could have bragging rights about climbing Diamond Head. You'd be the envy of all your friends!! :cat:

Wow, that's a lot. For me it's The Happiest Millionaire. I've seen it more than enough times. Unfortunately never on the big screen. I know it's not most people's cup of tea, but I just adore that movie. No matter what is wrong I can just put that movie on and be provided with complete escapism. All of the old Disney live action films do that form me but The Happiest Millionaire is my absolute favorite film.

Never seen it. Some day, maybe it will be on TCM or A&E, and I'll watch it then.

Oh, what a cute story!! (By the way, it doesn't look like either a chicken or a poodle; it looks like some sort of mutant prehistoric animal, but it's the thought that counts! :p What a nice waiter!!) There are so many layers to the full story above, and what I really love are all the memories you both will have forever. :)

Yea, the whole tenure thing still, mostly, baffles me. If I got arrogant, lazy, and unproductive at my job, I'd be gone in a shot. Obviously, all teachers/professors don't go there, but, don't tell me way too many don't. I've done the research.

Being a board member for many years I hate tenure and support tenure. If there was not tenure the best of the teachers likely would not be teachers, sadly it also protects the worst. We have one administrator that only hires teachers without experience, many of which who leave to start families keeping that buildings salaries very low. It is also our building that has the lowest test scores, experience of good teachers and mentors to new teachers matter. We have another administrator that tries to push his long term teachers out the door into early retirement as they are expensive by that point. Administrators can really make life difficult for those they want gone even if they are doing a great job with students. We have yet another that hires a mix of teachers and tends to hire the best of the best and that school is beyond professional, staff all respecting each other and each grade team working well together. It is why I support tenure even though I hate the whole process that can support indifferent teachers to the learning process. I don't have a suitable replacement for tenure that would protect the good teachers and let districts weed out the bad and still encourage the young to become teachers.

I've never seen it - but that is a very joyful poster.

A lot of people have complained the film is too long (172 minutes) but I say that's nonsense. The movie is absolutely perfect. Here's a link to a trailer for it (video wouldn't embed). http://www.sky.com/tv/movie/the-happiest-millionaire-1967/video/the-happiest-millionaire-trailer

It has been on TCM before and on BYUtv several times. BYUtv plays a lot of old Disney movies.

I like that the BYU channel plays a lot of old Disney movies. There are a few I hadn't ever seen but had heard about and I really enjoyed them. I saw the movie "Follow Me Boys" on that channel a couple months ago and enjoyed it a lot. But for me the best Disney live action movie is the original Parent Trap. Hayley Mills all the way!

Climbing Diamond Head was really fun. We went early on a Saturday morning and then went to the Farmer's Market at the nearby community college. The farmers market had so many tasty things for breakfast and snacks for the rest of our week there. The flowers were also really inexpensive, so I bought a large bunch to put in our hotel room, and that made our room smell and look really good.
