We're doing Edelweiss from Sound of Music in chorus. Director asked us how many of us had seen the movie. To my utter shock, I was the only one!:jawdrop:

I'm sorry, but if you're in music, especially chorus, Sound of Music should be required viewing.
In previous life, I've done 3 different stage productions of that show. I always called it the Sound of Mucus. Hated. it.

Two interesting points here: first, I find it frustrating that they used to give you both appetizer and dessert, and tip! :jawdrop: too, but now just dessert and no tip. Second, my guess is that it may cost them more to make the appetizers, versus desserts made of mostly flour and sugar. That's just a guess, but I'll bet you that's why you can't choose the appetizer over the dessert now.
It's also tied to table turnaround times. (Nice alliteration there.)
Consider a party of four - two order apps, two order desserts ... you've now added a whole other course to be served, a minimum of 20 minutes, and yet no more $$ to the final bill.
And yeah, dessert is cheaper.

As much as it pains me to defend you, I don't think that very many of them actually look like what they are trying to convey. In fact most are completely off... like the rolled eyes one. That doesn't depict sarcasm it is more of a "what's wrong with you" type of projection. Anyway, enjoy the moment, I'm sure that there aren't to many defenses to come your way. :);):(:confused::cool::p:D:eek::oops::rolleyes: Pick whichever one you think applies!

The more demerits you get the more popular you become. Didn't they teach you anything in Canadian Schools?

On a different topic. I was watching TV the other day and a commercial for Velvetta "Liquid Gold" Shells and Cheese came on and I thought that I recognized one of the guys in the commercial. Finally it struck me... He was the pirate with the wooden eye in PoTC (original, at least) I don't remember the name of the character.
Good eye, @Goofyernmost (pun intended)

It really is tough speaking in any official capacity off the cuff and not every once in a while unintentionally pull the wrong word.

I'd say it's just about impossible. To me, it's all in the "intent" of whatever term is not PC. Many people don't have any intent whatsoever to hurt others, with terms that aren't the most current. I think you gave a great example of the man you didn't care for, but you could still put that aside, and realize that he had no bad intentions in his term at all. Makes me kinda sad that so many seem to judge someone else so quickly, when they don't use a PC term, instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt, sometimes. Again, usually I think people can tell if the intent is either positive or negative.

Just walked in carrying a carpload of pizzas, and two of the idjits left their shoes/work boots in front of the door.
Sadly, I didn't see them, and ended up wrenching my back!
Let the moaning and groaning begin. Not for you guys though, just the two offenders.

 Your comment has wounded me.:(;)

I'm a huge, huge, huge Slade fan. I have well over 70 of their songs on my iTunes. They created so much great music. And their 70's glam rock fashion style was so weirdly awesome.

Their song "Merry Xmas Everybody" is still the most popular Christmas song in the UK (and it's my personal favorite).

Slade even had their own movie called Slade in Flame

Some of their songs were successfully covered by American bands (you know like the krappy Quite Riot ones). Slade was very adaptable and had a comeback in the 80's with their only songs to chart in the US.

Just incase anyone is interested here is a BBC documentary about Slade.

I'm very sincere when I think Slade is by far the greatest band ever!

I probably should not type this...I've never heard of Slade. And I grew up in the 70's.

That was a really smart thought you had. I never would have thought about the possibility of added time at the table if half ordered appetizers while the others ordered desserts. Obviously, you eat out more often than I do!! ;)

Sympathy like. And, NO pizza for those clowns. It's just for you and hubby only. The rest can go make themselves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
