A random bad storm rolled in and a lightning strike knocked power out to all of WDW for a minute. We were on TTC and our vehicle had just pulled up to the exit with the doors open so they let us walk down the ramp. It was weird that the lights came back on but no sound to anything. (We were stuck in the covered stroller area by the TTC for an hour and StarWarsGirl was waiting it out at POTC.) The rain was so heavy that Tomorrowland flooded up over our ankles. Most of the rides came back up but we called it a night and when we got back to resort, the gift shop was closed and the food court was just coming back online because their power was out.

Yes, there were a bunch of lightning strikes right in that area. We were under PofC and kept hearing the thunder at the same time as the lightning, so we know it was close
Wow, sounds like a scary adventure by itself.

The power off and lightning strike must have damaged the computer stuff for the rides to dont come back online.

A condo in Florida is my dream. The only thing I'd miss is my garden.
You cant get a 1st floor condo with a garden area?

I found my inhaler. In my purse, buried where I couldn't lose it.

Glad I didn't order a new one. *sigh* I can be so stupid sometimes.

Its ok.. the heat affected you too ;)

My family was on a bus from POR to Epcot when lightening struck the forest along side of the road and there was a huge fire immediately. Bus driver calm and matter of fact radio'd in where a new fire was. Didn't seem to bat an eye.
Honestly, in places where there are not many mountains or big buildings, lightning strikes on trees are very usual... They are nature's own lightning rods.

I was terrified when we first bought. The house was a stretch for us at the time. We had very little money left over for anything. But slowly we began to earn more and then were able to refinance to a lower interest rate (we bought the house at 8.5%!) and everything settled down a bit. We didn't furnish right away - it was too expensive so we did it slowly - we actually just bought a dining room set last year (our 13th in the house). You work at your own pace. It's a lot of responsibility - maintenance-wise. Anything can go wrong (and sometimes does) and paying to fix it can be scary as well. But it's incredibly rewarding as well - to stand back and think, "This is Mine".

The biggest issue I'm having is that I currently rent, and I will probably need to move soon. If that's the case, the places I'm finding that accept both cat and dog are more than a monthly mortgage payment- AND want anywhere from $250-500 NONREFUNDABLE pet deposit- per pet. It's becoming outrageously expensive and I just don't think I can do it on my own. I dread having to live with this guy much more... I'm so miserable. I'm crying just thinking about it.

I don't have $$$ for down payment, like you're recommended to have, but my back is against the wall. Unafforadable rent and animal fees, or living with a stranger (room mate) or staying where I'm at and dealing with the winter... where I'm at, if you don't have car, you aren't making it up that hill in the winter. Well, if/when he goes, so does the car. It's HIS, not mine... and the clock is ticking in regards of winter. I only have a few short months to figure this all out.

I'm a panicked mess.

Do you guys remember the gnocchi dish at Le Cellier? My son loved that dish but they took it off their menu. Does anyone know how to cook gnocchi like that? We know how to boil it but they saute it or something to get it crispy. I tried to do it once but they kept sticking in the pan no matter how much nonstick spray I used.

Get yourself a nonstick skillet and *do not* use cooking spray ever on it. My gnocci gets slightly crisp but still remains soft... when I used the regular skillet with cooking spray it just stuck to it and burned!

We are booked at Coronado Springs, 10-days with Free Dining.
If it's just the 3 of us, we will still go.
When are you going to go?

I'm hoping to get to coronado springs in February (for a convention, I'm going to the cochlear corporation convention)

I'm in a rather nasty situation that's... not really similar, but I understand "B" a lot. That's whats happening to me. He's chosen a miserable, dark, bleak, negative life over what we had, what I have, and where I'm going. I'm in the opposite direction. He would rather sit around and smoke pot and cry about how much his life sucks and I'd rather go out and try to fix mine instead. It's not working. It's getting uglier by the day.

Lesson learned. From now on, if I can afford it, I'm living alone. I'm so burned on relationships that I would be quite content to never date anyone again.

It really sucks.

I'm feeling very nervous lately, because of all the drama going on in my household, and I would love to buy a house. There's even one that I'm eying lustfully (its the perfect size for me and my dog and cat... and thousands of art supplies) but I'm so afraid of.. everything.

Is this a normal part of being an adult?

Yep, what they said. The sweet potato gnocci is...sweet tasting, and pretty soft compared to normal potato gnocci. That bag... you just open, empty into skillet, heat, and eat. But I've made plain gnocci with parm cheese or red sauce, or a white wine sauce before. You really can't go wrong with any of it.

are you an artist?
and I also agree with you. Some people are so negative and pessimist that the suck the life out of everything.

What kinda bugs were those? Hulk flies?

Green flies. Also known as horseflies. They hang around in wet areas (like a boat marina on Long Island). They are gross, huge flies. And they don't actually bite or sting (do NOT click spoiler if you don't want to know):

From the internet: Horse flies are equipped with mandibles shaped with serrated edges. This makes it possible for the horse fly to actually rip into the skin and slice away a portion of the top layer of flesh. While horse flies tend to feed on the blood that wells up in the wound, they are also capable of slicing off a tiny section of skin and feeding on that severed portion as well.

Oh! I never heard them called green flies. Yeah, we had to deal with some on Lake Erie last weekend. Two managed to make me bleed. :arghh:

OK. The place was beautiful - Ryland Inn. Very farmhouse chic. Not enough food. Not even close. Cocktail hour was about 20 minutes and it was only a few trays of passed finger foods - and then dinner wasn't until around 10 and the portions were small and bland. We were famished. Dessert was small too. We hit 7-11 and McDonalds on the way back to the hotel. And I messed up where we were going on the way home - we were supposed to take the Verrazano and ended up so far north we took the GWB - and there was a Yankee game. Hit right around the stadium at 12:15. Took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get home.
If you are near the Raritan River, going through Staten Island is probably the best way to go.

Traffic was the big reason why I was so crabby when I got in the hotel. Below exit 100 on the Parkway is a mess with all the construction. I swear they made the lanes narrower than most cars.

I'm going to have to move in the spring since my landlord is selling the property next summer. I know the pet thing is going to be impossible around here, I already did I few looks on Zillow. It would be nice to be able to get a position that puts me in the NYC office 5 days a week and move up closer to there, but then that adds difficulty to my personal life so I really don't know yet.

I wish people understood that not everyone who rents owns a cat eating floor pooping rotti who will chew walls and destroy carpeting. But apparently everyone does. Especially apartment buildings here... its ridiculous. $500 nonrefundable deposit? I'm just going to GIVE you $500... per animal... to "allow" my animals to live with me. And you're not even feeding them! :( Makes me so mad.

My dog and cat are my babies. Do these some aye holes charge a baby fee? They make more mess than my two do.

Although I did pass by a car with a huge decal on it advertising "Hip Hop Catz" - an animated website with rapping cats that is geared towards educating children. The names of the catz were hilarious, as was the animation, and it was definitely worth the extra 2 hours on the drive home. :banghead:
