Thanks! I nearly forgot that today was the Shareholders' Meeting at DLP (even though I did get my own invite as shareholder!).

The glimpses of the Bistro Chez Remy look quite spectacular. I am afraid this will turn into the Be our Guest of DLP. I just hope that food and service will be better than what I experienced at BoG at WDW...

However, here again they have a new attraction coming up and still don't set an opening time. I don't think that this is a smart move as it might people defer their DLP trip to the fall (cheaper anyway) or even to next year when they will know for sure that the new attraction will have opened by then.

Interesting factoid in the 2013 review they published today is that they were able to reduce the amount of money they are paying in interest by 20 million € thanks to the restructuring. I wonder how much interest do they actually pay every year? I was never able to really find that number in any of the financial papers...

Yes: DLP's brochures in combination with European law.

The reason must be the fact that the DLP summer brochure for 2014 still advertises character greetings at the hotels as one of the perks of their resorts. The summer brochure usually is for April to October, the winter brochure then November to March. Considering that most of the hotel rooms at DLP are being sold as part of packages (including at least theme park tickets, but possibly also transportation and food) those fall under the European Package Travel Directive. This brought pretty strict rules about what happens if the vacation you book does not have all the elements that are advertised. The directive requires all countries to set up easy ways to make small claims by travellers for short-comings in their vacation. Also consumer protection agencies are usually very active in this field, so it could end up in a lot of bad PR for DLP, as having no characters at all despite them being advertised could be considered a failure to deliver the promised vacation.
Good to know, thanks

It won't even be in the top 20. Most analysts are saying it will only reach 50 mill domestically
Please don't make statements like this unless you know what you are talking about. See the movie. Then, if you still feel that way, your opinion is noted and respected (in my book).

Im not judging the movie. I'm just saying I don't think it will do well domestically. It has a chance internationally to catch on
You can't say that because you haven't seen it. I have. It has a very strong patriotic undertone to it that will guarantee it will do well here.

One word. Mexico.

One word. No.

Sorry, but keep the toons out of World Showcase. The overlay of the ride could have been much less intrusive and used the characters better in complementing a story about Mexican culture. Instead the ride became about them, with culture taking a back seat. This is why Rat should not go in France (or anything with a major movie tie-in as the focus), the focus becomes the character instead of the culture. I can live with P&F, but no more.

Exactly. Plus, a Ratatouille ride doesn't have to be a meet-n-greet. That's just using an IP that fits the theme. Synergistic. I actually don't like that word. Anyway, EPCOT needs more rides and not a rebranded ride (ie Maelstrom). Sure, Futureworld could use some work to fill the empty buildings. However, if it was possible, it shouldn't be disregarded. However, Spirit's comment about how DHS is on hold can probably be taken to mean that anything new, except for Avatar, is also on hold. Hopefully, I'm not inferring too much.

I haven't seen it either, but I agree there is no way Robocop does Avatar numbers. Avengers, based on iconic characters that have been around longer the Robocop, a lot of which have recently had their own blockbuster movies, still fell 1.2 Billion short of Avatar internationally.

The theme of the World Showcase pavilions is not limited to just setting. It is about culture. Shoving American stories into places intended to share the stories of others is not at all in keeping with the theme of World Showcase, it is the opposite.

Agreed. Oh well, EPCOT will probably continue to limp along in its current state for the foreseeable future.

Erm, you sorta already are.
Actually I'm not. I used to take my family down there at least once, but more often twice, a year. We haven't been back in close to three years and have no plans to any times soon. (Though I am sure we will at some point go back as an nostalgic side trip while experiencing all Central Florida's family vacation locales.) We almost always stayed at the deluxe resorts for a about two weeks at a time, and spent (for us anyways) a considerable amount of money in the stores and on dining. It just got to the point where there's just no value in it. We have been to Disneyland a few times but for much shorter periods and we hand over a lot less our money to the Mouse. So no, I am among the few who said enough of the cuts, the phoney customer service shell game, lack of upkeep, and lack of any desire to make customer's vacations an experience equitable to the money spent on it and stopped going. I know Disney doesn't care, but my pride does. My wife and I work very hard for our money and now choose spend it elsewhere; places that work just as hard to earn money from us as we did to earn it for ourselves.

I saw the news from @drew81 about the DAK parade closing. Understand it was planned to end with the Christmas version on January 2nd originally. I believe the only reason it stayed open was because it is the ONLY parade left on property right now and there were concerns about having it end while LoTK hadn't opened in its new locale yet.

I'm still wrapping my head around the possibility of some kind of Beatles Pepperland. I had thought that all the good IP was taken. But it never dawned on me to look to music. Something dealing with the Fab 4 could be epic. Yellow Submarine seems like a natural fit. Especially considering how all the existing attractions are water-related.

You mean like the failed Rock n Roll park? :)
