HWS getting rid of ALL the shows?

In my opinion the only shows they should remove are American Idol (huge waste of space and also somewhat irrelevant) and LMA. I'd like to see BATB stay since it's a popular show... it always fills up so it would be a stupid decision to do away with that. Maybe replacing VOTLM with a Tangled show would be a better approach or even replacing Playhouse Disney with the Tangled show? They could either keep Indy or maybe even turn it into some kind of Star Wars show if that's what they're going to do with that part of the park.

I agree about American Idol leaving... I would be glad to see something in its place. Without someone sponsoring it, it wont happen... Same with Indiana Jones, It takes a pretty big area to house. Make us an Indy ride like other parks, but new and fresh.

I would honestly say that if HS would get a few new rides, without expansion, they would bring in even better crowds. They need a water type rollercoaster at HS...

Muppets are going through Renovation right now... at least their front lobby was. I doubt they'll axe it so soon after that.

As for the shows, I never really been to any of them except Indiana Jones, LMA, and Muppets.

Sine Belle has her own land. I'm down with a Tangled show. And I'd be fan-boying if we got a Princess and the Frog show (though sadly that isn't going to happen)

I would be shocked if they replaced Indy. It's so popular.

Gotta love a rumor thread that is based on either trolling or humor that gets taken for real...I can assure you that as someone intimately familiar with Disney Live Shows, that NONE of the shows are closing. In fact, there are some new shows being added. LMA is not only not going anywhere, it was just funded for major increase in show vehicle development...The Prince and the Frog is far into development and near ready for implementation by the same team that did Finding Nemo the Musical...as much as some people here like to trash DHS and its shows, the fact is that Live Shows is what makes mega-bucks for the park...

not disagreeing with you here, but I am curious. If this is truly the case, where is Carsland going then?

Carsland is going BEHIND LMA -- employees in those buildings back there have already been notified that their offices will be moving. The Tram Tour is being removed. LOTS of land back there.

By the way - I am not sure people realize how small Carsland actually is when it comes to physical space requirements.

The live shows make big bucks?

If by big bucks you mean people eaters and keep Disney from having to build rides, then sure. Indy makes money. Belle, Mermaid, Idol and Lights are not exactly sprouting money. In fact, all the Idol merch at the Idol shop was shipped and replaced with generic park stuff.

The problem is that Disney does not want to spend up front money on building rides. Instead, they would rather spend much more paying 2-3x the number of CMs for crappy stale shows.

Take Fantasmic. Disney treats it like the highest of concept shows ever. Do not take me wrong. A lot of it is really great, but its flow is a nightmare. It could easily drop the Pocohantas bit and shave 4 minutes. Plus save some CM costs. But nobody wants to mess with the show. It should be a show that evolves as simply as the castle projection show. Hunchback is the most recent movie in the show. It is closing on 20 years old.

One might think LMA bring in the bucks, but forcing people to sit in the Florida sun for over an hour just to sell some overpriced sugar water is not really "bringing in the bucks." More like underhanded nickle and diming.

I wouldn't be surprised if they rethemed LMA as part of it to include Cars characters...like Paris has.

It brings in families who pay lots of money based primarily on the shows. People who run from ride to ride are not WDW's target market for DHS -- which is families who come to the park to experience movie-themed activities and go to live shows -- the SHOWS is what brings in business, not the handful of rides which augment it. In fact, the rides LOSE money since they require a lot of maintenance and upkeep and are way more expensive to build than live actors in live shows. The shows are even timed in such a way that you can't see them all back to back, you have to stay in the park and spend time waiting in between...which means more money for restaurants and concessions. For every person who does nothing but ride TOT and RNRC, there are 50 others who don't even venture further than the BATB theater...
WDW long ago conceeded that they have no interest in creating another Universal Studios and that show elements are primary to the park, not rides.

Sadly, hourly cast members are some of the most under-informed and mis-informed sources of Disney related information you're going to find. Especially CPs. Disney management will usually not tell them anything important, leaving cast members to just speculate among themselves and creating a vicious rumor mill. Some will literally just make stuff out of sheer boredom to enjoy how guests react. Don't take a CM's word for future plans any more seriously than you would a bus driver's.

I don't think a park CM is a good enough source for this. It's like an Apple Store employee telling you he knows what the next iPhone is gonna have.

Of course this is true.

Though it has aged and shows it now, I do hate to see Voyage probably go, mostly due to the fact that growing up going there with my little sister and family that show was always one of my dad (who doesn't ride much) favorite things

I can see them all leaving eventually, but at once? No. That would leave HS empty unless you love thrill rides. Some need to go more than others, like American Idol and LMA.

I hope the rumors are not true...I like my low wait times at RnR while the rest of the park is watching the "poppy" parades
