Of course anyone who knows the husband and me knows we are dedicated Disney-philes. One of the hubby's buddies is going on a Disney cruise with his fiance and her 4 year old daughter in May. We've given them tons of info and advice. They're super psyched for their upcoming trip. Last night I was in the kitchen getting dinner ready when my hubby came around the corner holding his cell phone out for me to read a text from his friend. It said:
Can you have Kelly call my phone and be The Princess and the Frog and talk to Reese?
Immediately I gasped and said, "NO WAY!!!! I can't impersonnate a princess! That's wrong! I can't do it even if I tried!!!!" So then the old man is all preachin' at me about how she's just 4 years old, she'd never know the difference, it'd be the most magical of moments for her, and I should pay the Pixie Dust forward. I'm tellin' y'all, I was sick at the thought of doing this. Yeah, we lived in the New Orleans area for years and if I hear the accent I can do it fairly well without trying. Plus, we're Southern. I'm feelin' all sick about this and my heart is flip-floppin'. Then I started thinking about how my boys (15 & 17) and the husband will likely make fun of whatever I say to this little girl and how stupid I'm going to feel trying to pull this off. And OMG! How the heck am I supposed to do an even semi-acceptable Tiana?!?! I was totally freaked. TOTALLY!!! The boys and the hubby kept encouraging me saying I should do it that I'd do a great job. Ugh. So I told them to hurry up and put the movie in so I can listen to her talk a little bit before I called. All the while I'm thinking to myself, "I cannot do this. I can't. I'm not qualified!" LOLOLOL!!!
So the text telling me it was time to call came. I thought I was going to die. I very reluctantly dialed the number and waited. I was on speaker phone. I'm going to sound like a total idiot. Whatever. They asked for it, right? So "Princess Reese" and I conversed for several minutes. I told her I heard she was going on a trip soon and I sure hoped to see her. She was so excited! I asked if she had a pretty princess dress to wear when she comes to meet me. She said she had a dress just like mine and would I take a picture with her to put in her autograph book. Of course I will, sugah! I asked if she wanted to see any of my friends and she said she wanted to see Princess Aurora. Oh I'll be sure to tell her my friend, Princess Reese, was comin' for a visit! I asked did she want to see Mickey Mouse since he was here, too. Yes, please? I'll tell all my friends that she was coming. I told Reese she had to be a good girl, do her best at school, listen to her mama & Mr. Greg, and be the best she could so she could come see me in May. She promised. It was so sweet! It took no time and the conversation was over. All 3 of my guys cheered! They said they could hear her when I was talking to her and she sounded so excited.
An hour or so later my husband got a text from his friend. He sent a video of Reese talking to me. She was SOOOOO adorable!!!! As soon as the phone hung up she started jumping all around saying, "Princess Tiana called ME! Princess Tiana called MEEEEE!!!" Her mom in the background says, "You have tell Grandmaw!" Obviously Grandmaw was in the background, too, because then she turned towards another direction and again cheered, "Grandmaw! Princess Tiana called ME!" The grandmother acknowledged. Then the mom's voice comes on again and says, "I sure wish Princess Tiana would call me...." to which Reese replied without missing a step, "Well you're just not lucky like me." LOLOLOLOL!!!! It was hysterical!!!! Loved it!
Several times last night we got thank you texts from the hubby's friend. Even this morning he texted to say she woke up this morning still out of her mind excited that she got a phone call from Princess Tiana. So adorable!
So there's my unexpected Disney moment from last night. Had to share. Doesn't happen to me every day, that's for sure!
