Where is the absolute best spot to watch Wishes?

I want to be as close to the fireworks as I can. Every time I go, there seems to ALWAYS be something covering part of the fireworks. I want to be directly under it and see every little speckle that shoots up. A Disney trip isn't complete without seeing Wishes... Would being directly in front of the castle be good enough? I always try to stand near but never make in it time to push through the crowd to the front. Is there a better spot that isn't so crowded?

Out of curiosity, do you guys know who does the fireworks? Is it a machine generated kinda thing, or normal cast members with really good timing? (Sorry if that sounds stupid, haha)

It depends on how you want to look at them. Do u want to see the castle right on are does it not matter. I was over at space mountain and saw them pretty good without a lot of people. I really don't think there is a bad spot to watch them.

Don't really care for the castle during the fireworks show, I just want to see the fireworks directly above. Hm, maybe I'll run around and see where's the best spot next time, lol.

The best place isn't the closest, but if you want close try the rope line in Fantasyland by the old Snow White building.

The show is run by pre programmed software, with manual intervention possible if needed.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider the best place? If I can hear the music while being directly under the fireworks, that seem like it would be the best place! Last time I was there, I could see the whole castle but there was a tree blocking the view of the fireworks. Moving around is also quite a task, during Wishes.

Best place? IMHO the sweet spot for full show is on the hub bridge of Main St USA. Anything closer than Partners is too close. Fantasyland is good for something different. The Rose Garden pathway is excellent, but very popular.

Unless I'm up watching it in the control booth ;)

I was going to say "Sitting on Walt's shoulders on the Partners statue"! :p

Main street in the area of Casey's or maybe a little closer has always seemed the best to me. We sat right in front of the castle once and it seemed a little too close but was nice to be able to sit and not stand. The most anticlimactic spot for us was the California Grill. Everyone raves about watching from the observation deck on top of the Contemporary but to be honest the perspective is skewed being so far away and way off center that the impact is lost and just did not evoke the same emotion in me. Fun to do once but I do not feel like I need to do it again.

Well, for the absolute very best view, with no other factors mattering, you want to be somewhere between the hub end of Main Street and the Partners statue. Any closer than Partners and the castle will be blocking some of the shells. Problem with this view is all the work that it involves before/after the show if the park is crowded at all - it will likely take some stakeout/wading through crowds to get to before the show, and you will be in a giant funnel into Main Street once the show's over.

Since I'm one that doesn't like to put up with hassle, my favorite hassle-free spot is on the hub's bridge to Tomorrowland. You get a view of the castle from an angle, but it's completely unobstructed and not usually crowded. You can usually walk up seconds before the show starts and find a great view.

Interesting... I felt this way too. After all the talk it was a bit of a letdown. The fireworks felt too distant to have the same emotional draw.

But this whole conversation is pointless since we all know Illuminations is better anyway. ;)

Go to the Fantasyland courtyard, between the castle and the carousel. The view here is great, and also LOUD. Even the sound of each shell being shot is loudly audible. The interesting part is that shells will be shot both in front of and behind you, so some turning may be involved. :)

I watch from right near the tomorrowland entrance from Main Street USA. But get there early, because it may get a bit crowded!

One year we happened to watch Wishes near the replica of the Liberty Bell. It was a very windy night and large chunks of the spent fireworks casings were landing all around us. The CMs nearby had a most definite panicked look on their faces, sort of "that never happens, what are we supposed to do?" We took home a couple of pieces as souvenirs.

I'm sure I would not have found it so amusing if I had been struck by a piece.

I don't know about the best but I do have my favorites!
I like to watch them from the Main Street train station or around the Hub also I love to watch it from the Poly beach with a Lapu Lapu in hand.

Man Street, near the hub.

I've watched the fireworks (or seen part of them) from all over that park and areas surrounding it. There are many unique angles, but all the spots that are way off, like Frontierland or back in FL or whatever, won't give you the best show for Wishes. Neither will the Poly or the Contemporary.

Back in FL, you have to keep turning around like mad if you want to see all the fireworks. It's a LOT of turning around and you'll miss a lot, not to mention missing the overall presentation. I don't know why anyone would recommend that as a good place to view the show.

If you haven't seen it, stand on Main Street, the hub or extremely close to those places.

For the standard view it ha to be main street i watched them by thunder mountain a few years ago on one of the wooden bridges and watching the fireworks with the reflection in the water and the quietness around there added a whole new element to it for me. Plus was first one back on btm with extra magic hours after!
