Seven Dwarf's Mine Train ride expectations?

What do you guys expect from this coaster? It is in Fantasyland, so it can't be a big thrill like Tower or Rockin roller coaster or a ride like that obviously, so do you think it will be a more child aimed coaster like the Barnstormer or a more thrilling coaster? Discuss!

I want a 7DC which is "magical" somehow, meaning that there are perhaps 3 or 4 dark scenes, plus outside scenes, and the witch has to be in it. We already know that the coaster will swing back and forth and be between Barnstomer and Big thunder, but I don't come to Fantasyland necessarily for thrills, but for some enchantment. If there is just one dark ride scene and a lame homage to the witch, then I will disappointed.

I know Lee has said the concept has been revised somewhat to 1 or maybe 2 dark ride scenes

I really like the Snow White ride in Disneyland, its has a lot of that enchanted woods, mysterious witch, gothic feel, but also the warmth of the Seven Dwarfs in the cottage, and you've got a story.

If Disney wants to continue the Snow White franchise, then they need at least the barebones of a story which would include (at least for me) at minimum:

1. Mysterious castle/dungeon scene elements
2. Wicked Witch scene offering apple
3. Seven Dwarfs, Snow White having fun/dancing in the cottage.
4. Dwarfs in the Mine
5. Scary woods
6. Finale, Prince Charming or Evil Witch falls or something

I'm sure folks other people would want other scenes, this is just a barebones list for me, but enough to turn the ride from homage to a story. I'm not talking about scenes on the scale of Splash Mountain, but I think that the plan for just 1 or 2 scenes is quite simply a franchise killer. Guests still loved the old Snow White ride, and story, despite dated technology and flat ply-wood cut-outs.

The ride, as is, is an ok ride, IMHO, from what we have seen, it is no BTMRR, but it is better than the Barnstormer, but it *kills* the Snow White franchise. A lot of kids haven't seen the film, yet the ride was able to tell the story, 7DC is bad because a lot of kids will just figure its a kinda generic mine train ride with Dwarfs that for some reason work there. They'll sell less Grumpy and Doppy t-shirts as the story is lost, IMHO.

They should have designed FLE so that the 7DC circles around the mountains of B&B (without really mess up views of the castle), and they should have added more scenes from the film.

The thing Disney doesn't get is guest expectations, for decades they had a Snow White dark ride which told a story, and some guests were certainly hoping to see this story updated, perhaps with fully fleshed out scenes inside of 7DC which told the story. Guests are going to be talking for decades about how the old Snow White ride told more of the story and about how it had all of these scenes.

I completely agree with you. I don't care about thrills all that much. I don't ride Tower of Terror over and over again because of the drops; it's the story around them that I can't get enough of. I hope the Mine Train has a similar strong storytelling aesthetic behind it. I'm longing for some real DISNEY magic. What I've heard about the attraction so far does seem hopeful...

You hit it right on the nose with what would be a great ride

I think it is going to be a really nice ride. Any story will more then likely be set nicely for kids that may not have seen the movie in the queue line thats what Disney does best.

Since it is going to be called the 7D Mine Train...I'd imagine it's not a FULL overview of the whole movie, and mainly...well, focused on the 7D and the mine. I feel like you cant be super upset when they tell you from the title what you are getting?

Not that I wouldnt LOVE to have a ride focused on the whole story, or agree that its the best part to focus on, but surely the mine/mine car is the most exciting part to make a psuedo thrill ride out of the movie. Unless they made a Prince Charming Kissing Booth?! :p

I did read somewhere that Snow White WOULD be in one part of it. As for the rest, I assume that most kids via Disney, or their parents...know the full story of Snow White? I dont have kids, so...I cant be sure on that one! :D

I think any person wanting to take a Disney trip should be forced to watch snow white it started it all

Well, given that they took out the Snow White dark ride, to turn it into a princess meet and greet, and given that at least the landscaping in this area look great, it would leave a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans if there was just one or two scenes with the dwarfs, and a Snow White meet and greet out front. This doesn't really tell the story of Snow White, or even touch upon the most interesting parts. It just a ride with some small thrills and an homage to the Dwarfs.

LOL, or at least chuckling.

Seriously, Snow White is still a well made film that has stood up to the test of time. Two non-Disney companies made live action Snow Whites, so the story is still interesting, especially in a world of teenagers used to wizards and spells thanks to Harry Potter.

I am surprised that Disney doesn't think about making another Snow White film, not traditional animated, but perhaps live action or CG? If done well it helps the Disney Princess franchise.

A ride we are a year and a half away from seeing has already killed the snow white franchise. Gotta love wdwmagic.

The 7DMR makes no attempt to tell the Snow White story.
There are two indoor scenes, inside the mine with the dwarfs.

Snow White shows up in a brief cameo in the cottage at the very end.

Can we go yet?

This really saddens me. Snow White was the first Disney film, and deserves for it's story to be told. In all honesty, I think when the ride actually opens, I would rather ride SWSA. The mine train ride is supposed to be the main event in the center of New Fantasyland, a real show-stopper. If all it is is just a thrill ride with some dwarves thrown in and a Snow White cutout at the end, I will be throughly disapointed. I would like to see some smaller version of Splash, like a glimspe of the castle at the start of the ride, the magic mirror and the Queen turning to the witch, maybe some tree's from the forest scene in the cave. I would love to see the apple scene and maybe a breif cameo of Prince Charming and Snow riding off with the dwarves waving goodbye as the ride ends. Something of a mix of a coaster and dark ride, but nope. :/

I wish they could maybe someday bring back all the demolished dark rides, but that's just a dead hope.

A thrill ride? If you're 5 perhaps... I hope the 2 indoor scenes are impressive at least. And I am sure it will look and be very immersive. But honestly, I am getting a bit tired of that having to be the trade off...

Uhh...no. The centerpiece would be The Little Mermaid - a solid "D" Ticket...the mine train will be no more than a "C" ticket (IMHO)

If you are expecting the mine train to be an "E" ticket then you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.
