Well I just got back from the Magic Kingdom after waiting almost 30 min for the monorail. There was a giant crane working on the castle today, as well as scrims all over the place. The entire park is in POOR condition, plus tinkerbell did not fly in Wishes!!!! It was not even windy!!!!! I can't believe that I'm saying this, but I am ready to go home! Worst Disney vacation I've ever had.

The crane is there for the removal of the Christmas Lights on the castle. They're not going to take the lights off by hand.
Scrims are good things, while not very pleasing to the eye, they are there for a good reason.

Yeah, unfortunately, you went during the slowest time of the year - which means refurbishments. Scrims mean things are actually being maintained.... The crane is taking down the castle lights from Christmas. These are good things. If they ruined your vacation, you can't go during slow periods - stick with dealing with crowds during peak seasons.

They just cant win can they? TDO makes people mad when they dont keep things fresh AND when they refurbish things. Kinda feel for em.

In all honesty, they are just sprucing things up. And when a park is open that much, someones get the scrims.

Yep, if they did not due maintenance, the complaint would have been, "This place looks like crud, don't they ever maintain it? Im ready to go home, this has been the worst vacation ever"

The thing is if you regularly maintain your attractions and facilities and infrastructure, you never get into a situation where so much is down or being worked on or closed.

I keep pointing to TDL, but there's a reason the place looks like it opened yesterday and not in 1983.

I'm going to steal a point from the Splash Mtn thread (think it was made by sweetpea) and point out that in 1991 the MK was 20 years old, but it didn't look it. Now, the MK sure looks like its 40 ... and an old 40 ... like that friend of yours who is 40, but everyone assumes she is 56. Not good.

Ok, I get that there was scrims and cranes...but when I was there in September 2010, the same things were going on and yeah I said I didnt like them, BUT I knew they were fixing things because they HAVE to. I didn't want to go home just for a little refurbishments...if you really feel that way then never come back. I guess little things annoy you. sorry but it isn't a big deal to have construction because they have refurbishments all the time!

May I remind you of your own post of just two weeks ago:

I'm not sure why everyone is so upset about an exterior refurbishment. When I was there in Feb. 2010, they were refurbishing the Exposition Hall, Ice Cream Parlor, back of the Train Station, and bottom part of the Castle all at the same time! And guess what..... I still had a GREAT time.

This is all that needs to be said. Quite honestly, this post makes no sense because what you described as "poor condition" was actually precisely what's changing that...

Yup, I will add that I am here, and yeah, there are a good number of refurbs, sure you miss some of your favorite rides (because they are all your favorite) but still PLENTY to do and having a great time (minus the TOUR GROUPS...)

and how do you know someone didn't puke on the monorail and they had to hold to clean it up? How do you know there wasn't a medical emergency holding up the trains? How do you know they weren't moving a train around for whatever reason? How are any of these things indicative of poor condition?

And if you were waiting that long, why didn't you take a boat? The only place that doesn't offer one is CR-->MK and there's a walkway for that.

As for Tink, the wind conditions at ground level do not necessarily equal the wind conditions 180 feet up in the air... If it's not safe for her to do so, Tink doesn't fly, period. There are also a host of other issues that could have occurred that kept Tink from flying.
