New Rumors.....maybe.

The Ratatouille idea sounds like a misplacing of the rumored Walt Disney Studios Park attraction.

No chance Greece would sponsor a pavilion. They are in such financial turmoil they could not afford to even send someone to Disney for free.
The pavilions are not necessarily funded by the national government of their respective countries. The pavilion could be paid for by corporate sponsors or even just Disney if they really wanted the pavilion.

* There will be more changes to Fantasyland that haven't even been announced yet: "many" new restaurants in the new section, and updated or brand new rides where old ones are removed. (This is pretty much not a new rumor, because we know which rides are leaving and what new ones or changed ones are going in.)

I wouldn't really call that a rumor. It sounds like the CM was pretty much just describing the little he/she knows about the FLE. There are no new restaurants or rides besides what's been announced. And if there are, then no CMs know about it, not even the Fantasyland CMs, and especially not World Showcase CMs.

It's fun to see funny rumors like this pop up. Where do people come up with this stuff?
I have always assumed that you CMs meet triannually in an undisclosed location to come up with a new set of outlandish rumors to release on an unsuspecting public.

Here's a rule I always follow:
Never trust what a cast member says. They are more clueless than the person in your avatar.

This depends on the CM. The average CM (myself included) only finds out about things when the general public does. That being said, there are CM that do know about these things such as those that work for WDI, Team Disney etc. But those people often aren't going to share it with the general public before due time.

That being said, I'm 100% sure that the Mexico rumor isn't true as the ride was just redone to include the Three Caballeros in the past few years. There has always been talk of creating other countries but it is def. not on the top of the priority list from what I've been told. If anything is going to happen it's going to be more "minor" refurbishments such as changing/adding more restaurants, updating rides and shops, etc.

Complete and utter nonsense.

No kidding. Those "rumors" the CM told those guests are not only completely wrong and totally fabricated, but they are downright fraudulent.

It's the height of unprofesionalism for a CM, on duty and wearing a uniform and nametag, to spout off lies and fabrications like that to paying customers. You would think in this Internet age that Disney would update their training and expectations a bit and clearly instruct their CM's that they are not to engage in wild speculation with paying customers, or let them in on "rumors" they heard in the break room from a crazy college program kid who spends too much time on the Internet. (Or in this case, not nearly enough time.)

Really, I have to place the blame on WDW management for this type of thing. Disney is quite clearly not training their front-line hourly CM's correctly for the 21st century and/or they have very poor front-line management of those hourly CM's. It's also apparent they don't have a clear policy in place about lying to paying customers when they should be working as a gracious pavilion host or hostess, or if there is such a policy it is not being enforced. This CM spoke to guests for "an hour-long chat" about all these lies, and no supervisor stopped him or stepped in? There was no other work to be done, or other guests to serve for an hour???

Shouldn't a CM at the France pavilion only be talking to guests about French culture and aspects of their pavilion??? Where the heck is the manager there??? :veryconfu

This is nonsense like others mentioned on this thread.

I am familiar with cast members telling to utter nonsense rumors to theme park guests and I don't believe Cast Members that talk to me with Disney rumors while I am down there as a result. The only way I believe the rumors if the cm was member from these boards that is known for their inside scope.

I once witnessed a cast member at Downtown Disney Bus stop around 2007 or 2008 telling a family that River Country is being cleaned up and will be given the okay to be opened again. It never happened and I wasn't shocked.

Overhearing an off duty CP sitting outside Earl of Sandwich last year telling their friends that Harry Potter is being taken over by Disney was enough to swear me off of such meetings if they ever existed.

If the story is indeed true, where in the OP did it say the CM was on duty????
