I just wanted to give anyone visiting WDW a heads-up that Pop Warner will be on-site next week (12/4 - 12/12).
:fork::fork::fork:

I dealt with them last year and vowed never to return the same week again!

Cheers:xmas:

Every year in the begining to mid decemeber there is a large cheerleading competition (I believe its highschool to 5th grade range) at the ESPN WWoS, and that means hundreds of chearlaeders will be in the parks those days.

Thanks for the quick reply. Because I only get to the parks infrequently I think I will be able to live with this. Do they stay at the Value resorts?

@BuzzGoofy, I believe most of the cheerleaders and youth football players stay at the value resorts like Pop! (hence the name Pop Warner).

I encountered some of cheerleaders on my first night down at WDW in early December 2009 during an extra magic night at Epcot, but the small throng of cheerleaders didn't make me divert any plans.

Take it in stride.

Thanks a2grafix.

We plan on staying at the Art of Animation so maybe there wont be as many of them there as it is suposed to be mainly suites.

I have not made all my plans yet, but will keep this in mind while doing so.

It's cheerleading AND youth football. It's like the "Superbowl" of Pop Warner football. We encountered the PW kids during our December '07 trip. Teens in mass w/inadequate supervision will always breed obnoxiousness. Not all of them are like that but the ones that are really are hard to forget. I believe it was '08 that 2 entire teams with all their families were booted from Pop Century/WDW in the wee hours of the morning for brawling. Maybe I'm remembering the year & location wrong. I know it happened, tho. And I think it's great that they were finally...fiiiiinally...held responsible for their poor behavior.

Once 2013 gets here, prob'ly in the summer, you can go to Pop Warner's website & find the section about the WDW trip. They have packages that are done at 2 or 3 resorts so you'll be able to see which resorts they're targeting.

I've been there during the pop warner week, and I didn't think it was that bad. Maybe for cast members it's no picnic, but as a normal guest, I wasn't bothered.

Off Topic, the Pop Warner organization is actually pretty cool. It's one of the few youth sports organization to have academic requirements. It's a cool way to get kids involved in footbal or cheerleading, but not in an insane stage-mother type way.

I do not like these kids. Last year, these little monsters decided to place mustard packets underneath the toilet seats so they would explode when someone sat down on them.

Guess which Cast Member caught it and cleaned it up before it affected another guest?

Just thought I would mention that the drunk coaches and chaperons that hang at the value resort bars and Hollywood Studios Prime time 50s bar are just as obnoxious..... we encountered them acting like loud mouth obnoxious jocks when the bartender wisely shut them off at Pop Century. So you can see why the kids are so well behaved......we actually thought the coaches and chaperons needed chaperon es.... :brick:

Stay at Pop Century, visit the pool bar or indoor bar when the coaches and chaperones are there, I did...... I guess I wouldn't feel safe having my kids in that pretty cool organization....especially when security had to be called when the bartender shut off a coach a for having too much beer. The coach used some language that deserved a backhander to the bartender, manager and security. We then encountered the same at Prime Time 50s Bar from others that were from the "pretty cool" organization.

Coming outside of a Wal-Mart this weekend, there was a troop of cheerleaders collecting money so they could go to WDW. I always give to charity stuff like that - Not that one. I wish Disney would ban that crap from the resort.
