Well, there WAS something in there that made lightening. It's gone now.The tesla coil was never installed.

Italy looked plain odd.
Quite possibly the best dinning experience I've had in Disney in a long time. Seriously. Beat out Askershus, Round Table, and Morocco (Marekesh?) by a long shot.
EDIT: Pretty sure that Martin mentioned the coil in his tribute.
Biergarten is the best.![]()
They never got the coil working. It was never installed.
There were projectors that made the stormy sky, but the coil was never used.
I used to be in that opinion.
Rose and Crown won me over this past trip.:slurp:
There are pictures of it working however....Perhaps something else was used?
*waits for Martin*
I`ll beg to differ. 1990. Somewhere I posted screen caps. A long time ago. They never got the coil working. It was never installed.

Great report, EE!
Good to hear the torches for IllumiNations were working properly. There were major issues with them on the 17th where 4-5 of them didn't work before, during and after RoE; really bad show.
And I agree, World Showcase is an amazing place. I'll take it over any other themed area Disney has created for their theme parks anyday.![]()
Yikes. Which ones? There were several that took longer to turn off and turn on when they were supposed to, but I thought nothing of it, just thought that it was the nature of the propane.
No, there were complete failures when I was there. I should note we were sitting in the patio area next to the Rose and Crown by torch 15, so that was my vantage point for all of this. Initially at 15 mins to go, from what I could see, torches 16, 17, 19, 1 and 2 failed to go on. A few minutes later, all torches were turned off, then turned on again. This time, torches 16, 17, 1, and 2 lit, but torch 19 still didn't light along with 15, 4, and 5 even though 15, 4, and 5 had just been on.
I can understand one or two torches having problems, but to have problems with half of them is a bit unacceptable IMHO. The show itself was great, but the torch issues were a bit annoying to see.
Odd. We watched from the same spot, and all were working. The ones that did have the length issues, were the ones you mentioned though. Seems like it might have just been a tech issue, seeing that two nights later, they were fine.
Did you notice the strobes back on the Earth Barge? Was quite happy about those, and thought of all the threads we had been in where we were talking about them being reinstated with the Earth Barge refurb.
Good, at least they were working again. I can tolerate them being a little late on lighting since we are talking about igniting propane. Having four or five of them not light at all is unacceptable.
And yes, I was looking specifically for the strobes on the globe and they are very nice looking. That was one effect I thought was lost forever, but thankfully its back.![]()
Of course not. It must have looked odd, the effect they give to the Lagoon and the mood they set is quite integral to WS. I hope that they retain them in future IllumiNations shows, if only for the preshow.
Yep. Really a pretty effect, and so simple too. The Earth Barge continues to be one of the cooler things that WDI has built.
I hope so too. They just got a repainting last year so hopefully they'll be with us for many more years.
How much longer for the DHS report? :zipit:
