The rest of WS...

Skipped Japan and Morocco much to my discontent. Love to just walk around those two, lots of nooks and crannies, especially in Morocco.

France- Looked fantastic as always, SOME Holiday decor. The craziest thing I saw here- The line for the bakery to the left of Impressions of France. Sheesh. MUst have at least been a 30 min wait, as it was nearing the Fountain. All that for a éclair?! And no FP!? Insanity.

UK Pavilion- Not much to report here, save for how amazing the Rose and Crown is. Quite possibly the best dinning experience I've had in Disney in a long time. Seriously. Beat out Askershus, Round Table, and Morocco (Marekesh?) by a long shot. Bangers and Mashed is my new favorite food. Had a fantastic view of RoE (more on RoE later...) and the night lit WS. Perfect. :o And all this without a ADR! Walked up on a whim, was told a 20 min wait time, got in in 10 mins. Flawless and fantastic. Next time, we will make ADRs, though, just to be safe. I'd love to eat there again.

Canada time. Pavilion and it's gardens look great and put MK Horticulture to shame. Cursing my camera right now, it was sunset, and all the pics came out very dark.

O Canada- Martin Short is still drawing in crowds. And for good reason, this is a good, modern, Travelogue. Projections and screens are VERY clean still, so all thumbs up for this stop.

And now...RoE. Ah. Another huge favorite of mine...and I think this was my best showing of it. Everything seemed to be very tight, timings, pyro effects, globe, inferno barge. The show is slowly progressing and becoming it's old self again.
From the beginning....

Announcements and Music- Not overlapping on each other this time. Simple problem? Fixed.

Torches start up at 9:15...Shame not earlier.

Jim Cummings narration seemed less rumbley. Have the speakers been upgraded? the music sounded thicker, too.

Chaos- Opening AFL Shot....Out of nowhere, and exploded right on target. The rest of the timings were very good, and I must say I like the new pyro that replaced the half mums that exploded on the water level. These sparkle more. Only thing that was off was the red blinking floaters, but these days, that's a given. Seems to be the last issue to correct in all honesty. Slight coloration difference in the ending blasts, there's some green thrown in with the red. Christmassy? Maybe.

Order- Very good timings here. All pyro was on time, the right colors, and in such with the music.Such a delicate piece of the show. "Procession of the Earth" is still such a quiet, peaceful moment after the insanity and noise of Chaos. It's not boring, and the audience does not treat it like that. So many little gasps as the globe is revealed, so many "Oooh's" and "Ahh's". It's appreciated for what it is. (Finally!) The Globe itserlf still looks great after it's refurb. You can really see what's on those screens now, nit just colors. Also, very good news...The strobes are back! Colored strobes and the white ones are both featured and sparkle at their key times. Very happy to see that, as they had been done a LONG time. As Order progresses, all is well, as I said, even celebration. Comets are a hair off from one another, but honestly, not noticeable.

Meaning- Again, very good. Torches come on, lights come up, and the globe opens up. One of the best moments WDE has done. 20th Torch in the globe ignited RIGHT on time, and very bright, another old problem gone. 1000 points of Light is still blinding and fantastic. Catches a lot of people by surprise. Finale salvo was as loud as ever, and more white than multicolored. I seem to remember a rainbow effect instead.

PoE- My second time seeing the Tag and my second time being blown away. If I had not been told about the cuts here, I would not have noticed. It looked fantastic. But now that it was mentioned, there is about a half second in between the colored bursts and the finale white bursts. Globe closed, reopened and reignited all on time again. Pavilion lights and introductions were the weak point, however, as you can really see that the pin lighting needs replacing on Mexico, China, France, and Norway.:lookaroun Seriously, though...Norway needs it's lights. It looks so awkward without it. All the rest loom stunning and then...spotlights on one of the most charming pieces of architecture in WS?! Bad show, there's no excuse. My only complaint for a otherwise near flawless production of IllumiNations. May there be many more.

Feel free to ask any questions about the TR, comments too. Always appreciated. See you tomorrow for The Studios.

I used to be in that opinion.

Rose and Crown won me over this past trip.:slurp:

Eh, not a fan of British food besides fish and chips.

There are pictures of it working however....Perhaps something else was used?

*waits for Martin*

"Working" is the key word. Yes it "worked", but not in a way that could have been used without killing guests.

Here's the testimony from an Imagineer that worked on the project.

Great report, EE!

Good to hear the torches for IllumiNations were working properly. There were major issues with them on the 17th where 4-5 of them didn't work before, during and after RoE; really bad show.

And I agree, World Showcase is an amazing place. I'll take it over any other themed area Disney has created for their theme parks anyday. :)

Yikes. Which ones? There were several that took longer to turn off and turn on when they were supposed to, but I thought nothing of it, just thought that it was the nature of the propane.

Forgot to mention this before...on the note of Propane...are they doing something new with it? Or did was the Inferno Barge amped up? Simply some of the biggest bursts from it this show. The "finale" burst from it chaos was HUGE. Actually formed a mushroom cloud, and went up and out, not just up. Heat could be felt with the same intensity that it had when the show preimiered....It had been lacking in previous years.

Just a note. DHS will be up later! Merry Christmas!

No, there were complete failures when I was there. I should note we were sitting in the patio area next to the Rose and Crown by torch 15, so that was my vantage point for all of this. Initially at 15 mins to go, from what I could see, torches 16, 17, 19, 1 and 2 failed to go on. A few minutes later, all torches were turned off, then turned on again. This time, torches 16, 17, 1, and 2 lit, but torch 19 still didn't light along with 15, 4, and 5 even though 15, 4, and 5 had just been on.

I can understand one or two torches having problems, but to have problems with half of them is a bit unacceptable IMHO. The show itself was great, but the torch issues were a bit annoying to see.

EDIT: Inferno Barge should be pretty much the same; I think it just feels more intense because of the refurb and additional nozzles that were added. ;)

Odd. We watched from the same spot, and all were working. The ones that did have the length issues, were the ones you mentioned though. Seems like it might have just been a tech issue, seeing that two nights later, they were fine.

Did you notice the strobes back on the Earth Barge? :D Was quite happy about those, and thought of all the threads we had been in where we were talking about them being reinstated with the Earth Barge refurb.

Good, at least they were working again. I can tolerate them being a little late on lighting since we are talking about igniting propane. Having four or five of them not light at all is unacceptable.

And yes, I was looking specifically for the strobes on the globe and they are very nice looking. That was one effect I thought was lost forever, but thankfully its back. :)

Of course not. It must have looked odd, the effect they give to the Lagoon and the mood they set is quite integral to WS. I hope that they retain them in future IllumiNations shows, if only for the preshow.

Yep. Really a pretty effect, and so simple too. The Earth Barge continues to be one of the cooler things that WDI has built.

I hope so too. They just got a repainting last year so hopefully they'll be with us for many more years. :)

How much longer for the DHS report? :zipit:

Yep. The banners next to them on the speakers are new, too.

:fork: After writing nonstop term papers, thesis and essays for finals, I'm taking my time! This afternoon/evening, I believe, as long as we don't have any more impromptu visitors! :o

What a fun trip report!!!

I have to 100% agree with you on the Bangers and Mash!!! Now if I could just get a good jacket potato from Rose and Crown I would be in heaven...although the mushy peas are pretty good...
