Hi all

We have an ADR booked for a lunch at Sci-Fi during our upcoming trip, but I'm thinking we may want to eat at The Plaza instead.
The menus and atmosphere are equally appealing to us.
I have been to both but my boyfriend has not been to either.

If you had to chose, which one would you pick?

Thanks!

The Plaza

Edit: My reasoning is because I prefer the atmosphere and food at The Plaza to the Sci-Fi. The Sci-Fi is nice, but the seating arrangement is just plan dumb. I like to be able to have conversations with the people I am eating with, not look at the back of their head. The Plaza has this nice charm with great views of the castle and I can see the people I am eating with. I also think The Plaza's menu is great for a good, filling lunch. Sci-Fi's is like every other burger joint on property to me.

Ooh tough. Have you been to either of them?
Food-wise I'd go for The Plaza, but if you're going more for the atmosphere, definitely go to the Sci-Fi. Don't expect anything amazing for the food, but it's a blast there. Sci-Fi is more of an experience, while The Plaza is a nice (crowded, loud, but I still love it!) distraction in the MK.

I forgot to mention, yes I've been to both but my boyfriend has been to neither.

I'm your one vote for Sci-Fi above. I think that, if Ryan is to experience Sci-Fi, lunch is the time to do it as their lunch menu is better than dinner. I'm not that fond of the Plaza because I find their menu limited (though not necessarily lacking) and their wait staff overworked. I've only seen the place packed to the rafters.

Yeah that's a good point Melissa...he'd probably enjoy Sci-Fi a lot and get a kick out of it.

Definitely the Plaza. I've heard really bad things about the food at Sci-Fi. My wife and I always enjoy our meals at the Plaza, and the service is really good, as well.

My thoughts exactly. I can't stand the seating in Sci-Fi. I know, I know, I understand the whole drive in themeing. That does not mean I have to like it. (And yeah, I know about the picnic tables too)

The Sci-Fi is great for Lunch, How can you beat Burgers, Fries and thick milk shakes. It's fun and a litttle romantic to sit in those cars watching class B movies and the theming just creates the rest of the experience. This is always a fun time for the wife and I and we both enjoy a very respectful Lunch. You will hear various opinions on this resteraunt and that resteraunt. To me the most important part is having fun and enjoying something new together. Since this is lunch I look at it as it's a whole lot better than McDonalds or Buger King. Now if this were dinner then I would rather be eating somewhere else. Lunch is Lunch and I have never been a fan of eating a big lunch and having it made special like a romantic dinner. Lunch pretty much goes by my golden rule, keep it simple and fun. Breakfast and dinner is where you can spoil me with a really nice dinning experience. I hope this helped a bit, I just wanted to to hear another point of view. Go and have fun.

Another vote for Sci-Fi here. As Mouse Man said, it's great for lunch, and it's a unique atmosphere unlike anything you'd ever get outside of WDW. My husband and I love it and try to get in for lunch once every trip. As long as you and your boyfriend are burger-fries-and-a-shake people, I think it's worth a try.

Yeah I agree...it's the lunch that's presenting these two choices. If it were dinner they wouldn't be an option for us.

I would keep your ADR with Sci-Fi. I love the atmosphere and I think the food is very good too. It is so unique that I feel it is a not to miss experience.

I do have to say that I have never ate at The Plaza so I can't really compare places.

Ugh tough choice! I'd say if it's his first time I'd go with Si-Fi. Plaza is nice place for a quiet meal but you just can't beat the B flicks. I was there last month and I had a blast. Hope this helps:wave:

The Plaza restaurant is located at Magic Kingdom right at the edge of Main Street, right next to the Tomorrowland Noodle Station.

Ah-ha. Thanks, for some odd reason I was thinking it was a sit down.

Personally I'd do neither then. One is counter service, the other a mediocre (at best) sit down. Depends what you're in the mood for.

Not even close, Sci-Fi. Love the atmosphere and I think a 1st timer will get a kick out of it. I think the food gets a bad rap. And the cheesy films....:ROFLOL: The Plaza, foods not bad but NOTHING on the menu warrants being minimum $10. Even for WDW those prices are criminal. I live just outside Philly and I've never come across a Cheese Steak that I'd pay $12 for.

Thanks for your responses everyone.

The more I read your posts and the more I think about it, there's no question Sci-Fi is the better choice for us. He'll totally love it, the food is good, and it is a fun experience.
