I wasn't around these boards and wasn't really paying attention the time when MS opened. Was it hyped to be better than it actually is? Kind of a stupid question but it replaced Horizons....so it had to be amazing which IMO does not even come close to the level Horizons was on.

Nooo.... it replaced Horizons since it was paid for by someone else.

It was hyped beyond belief, and became Eisners greatest folly.

Oh, did it ever! Even a mini Innoventions attraction where Don't Waste It currently resides:

I definitely recall some hype. I wasn't even that bummed about Horizons being torn down because of all the marketing hype that promised M:S would be even bigger and better than the pavilion it replaced.

The disappointment when I finally experienced M:S was enough to make me consider a life of supervilliany.

I like M:S, but it was WAY overhyped. I remember the Travel Channel special saying that you would be able to feel pure weightlessness, but there was hardly any. Just lots of G-Forces.

M:S is a great ride. Better than Horizons imo, which most around here will not agree with. But, to each his own. And I did like Horizons, but its gone now and theres nothing I can do about it.

Most thrill rides get over hyped, Universal overhyped Hollywood Rip ride Rockit! and are currently hyping harry potter... Disney hyped test track, mission space, everest... if they were worth it is the guest's opinion.

Mission Space was wayyy overhyped on these boards!! You'd have thought it also found a cure for cancer.

All of a sudden, dozens of usernames either switched to or joined as an "ISTC-something or other." So many people, guys specifically, jumped on this band wagon. I remember reading reviews of this being the first "F-Ticket" ride--you'll never be on another ride/ attraction better than this ever.

Yeah, okay. Sure it's fun to some, but it is certainly not an F-Ticket. Huge overload on MS on the forums.

But, I think any attraction these days get overhyped with this thing called the Internet. I remember I knew nothing of Tower/Terror and Splash Mtn....following a ride's creation often can lead to some dissappointm, ent.

Perform a search on these forums and you'll see how grand this attraction was thought to be before opening and during soft openings.

Now there are days its an easy walk-on attraction--no lines.

Thank all the hubbub about the deaths and bad PR...:lol:

I know I am...I like walking on to things..:lookaroun:lol:

I like how it promotes some degree of interactivity versus being a merely passive experience. I don't like how trying to interact with it in the slightest can make me very dizzy.

but its not real interactivity, it does things for you if you don't.

I wish the other buttons actually DID something also, before you "take off"
