Whats up with the bus driver?

I just got back from wdw, it was our first trip. I loved it!!! The only time I got irritated was when the hotel bus came to the park at the end of the day to take us back to cbr. He tried to pack us into the bus. I was standing near the front, my kids were pushed back a few people in line, and by my account the bus was full. Then the bus driver ask everyone to push back, face front and double up so he could fit more people on, after adding about 4 more, one with a stroller and young child all standing he once again asked us to move back so he could add 8 more. I'd had enough, called for my children and told him he could have my place I would wait for the next bus. The next bus was there in less than 10 min and we were all able to sit. To me stuffing us all into a bus like sardines was dangerous. My advice to anyone using the buses is if it looks like it getting to full, just get off and wait for the next one, don't let someone force you to be uncomfortable. Anyone else have this problem?

I saw this to, while staying at the ASM we had an DME bus take people to Animal Kingdom, those buses I thought where for the airport only, they where stuffing them in there like they are toys.

We do the same - wait for the next bus so our young children can sit. Also we leave parks well before closing to avoid the crowds. I think it is dangerous enough to ride inside a bus with no seat belts and nothing soft to fall onto but IMHO to have people stuffed inside standing seems like a tragedy waiting to happen.

Travelling now my DD (4) and her stroller, I have to say that 99% of the time we will wait until we can sit with DD. However, there were many of times prior to having DD that we would pack in and stand just to be able to get back to the hotel to sleep! Although with the recent accidents with the buses at Disney I have to say I might second guess myself if I thought about doing this again.

We were on a cruise a few years back with a large number of Japanese who did exactly the same thing on the cruise ship elevators and ferries. The elevator alarm would be going off and they would still be trying to wedge themselves into the elevator. I'd never seen anything like it and, having a problem with claustraphobia anyway, made it worse. :(

Yeah, but it's a catch-22. Sure, you may be cool about waiting, but if there's one square inch of bus space not occupied with a body part, sure enough there will be SOMEBODY who will say "hey, there's still room!" And they will complain to Guest Services about being STRANDED because the bus driver said the bus was full when cuh-LEAR-lee it was not and so on and so on...

I have to say we experienced the same thing on our last trip to Pop. We were packed in like sardines and then the bus driver asked us to move back so more people could load. We were coming back from Epcot that night and I couldn't believe how many people were on that bus. We were literally cheek to cheek and I don't mean the ones on our faces!:ROFLOL:

Just one of the reasons I now prefer to have my own car at WDW and drive myself to my destinations. I got tired of the long waits, the packed buses, (and the wait for next bus cause of the crowd), seeing one park get 4 buses before the park I want ever shows up at the hotel, etc...

Walking to my car, turning it on, flipping on the A/C and going on my merry is the way to go for me.

Have to agree with OP that packing the buses is not safe. I've struggled to stay on my feet as we rocket through the turns. I would feel terrible if I fell on someone or squished a child. There is nothing to hang onto except those slippery poles.

I will also wait for the next bus if I see it's being packed to bursting.

The past few years we've had a car while there so it's never been a problem. Now that we were trying to do Disney a little cheaper so we could stay longer, we find ourselves trying to find a way to rent a car just so we don't have to wait for buses or being packed like that. When I was 5 months pregnant and had the belly bump and everything, we were getting packed in (not as bad as the op described) and not one person offered up their seat. Those bus rides can be dangerous and even more so if you're pregnant and could hurt your baby. I don't understand why people don't give up their seat for someone pregnant, disabled, elderly or holding a small or sleeping child.

Add the fact that everyone is packed in like sardines to a hot, humid climate and what do you have? A lot of stinky, sweaty, cranky, tired people.
