The first phase of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is now expected to arrive December 1st 2009 with phase two (Hogwarts Castle and the e-ticket) opening Spring/Summer 2010!

I have read that Hogsmeade will be prepared for the season of Christmas 2009 , the Castle due spring 2010...

Apparently, the new word on the "street" is that Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be opening on December 1st, 2009.

While this may excite Potter fans, as usual, Jim Hill Media has given us a clue about why it might not be THAT exciting.

According to Jim's sources, the Harry Potter aspect of Islands of Adventure does appear to be opening to the public on December 1st of 2009. However, only Hogsmeade Village will open with this Phase One opening. Phase Two will open in 2010 with Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest and the much talked about Flying Car attraction make its debut.

Apperantly the phase 1 opening would include:

-All the shops & reasturants
-Rethemed dueling dragons and flying unicorn
-The interactive Magiquest

No clue about the rumored show (Introduction to Magic) that may not open until 2010.

I do not think it means anything until a new ride opens. DD and FU don't count as new in my book.

Is this news or rumor? :shrug:

Agree. Originally I thought the rides would open with the land and I'd go to IOA in Jan/Dec, but now I might not. I might just have to wait until Summer :(

I'm excited about Harry Potter land. I'm a fan of IOA. But the opening of two attractions that should still be open now isn't really very exciting. Nether-the-less its a good idea to have those rides finished as soon as possible, so phased opening is a good idea.

POTTER vs. WDW

IMO just ONE atttraction @ Universal does not trump the overall attraction to WDW. I'm still putting my poker chips on the MOUSE! Duckberg :D

IOA can probably beat any WDW park one on one once it gets HP, but WDW as a whole versus USF is WDW hands down, no questions better.

MagiQuest is an attraction unto itself, I mean, think of all the kids buying wands (I guess a big wand store and a quickly cycling introduction will be necessary?), plus all the wand add-ons and the extra decoration items for each wand, not to mention the fact that the wands will most likely need to be activated every hour or so, and with the "enchanted" items being strewn ALL over the park... yeah, they're going to make money...
