Ordering Cake for Birthday?

Hey Everyone :)

I will be at Disney June 13th to the 23rd and I wanted to order a small cake for my fiance since his birthday is right after we leave.

We have reservations right now at Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Sci Fi for dinner and Tony's for dinner as well.

Am I able to pre-order a small cake (it's just the two of us going) from the restaurant directly or do I have to pre-order a cake from somewhere else and bring it in? Even if it is a cupcake or something along the lines of a cake that is slightly decorated would be nice.

Any info would help me greatly :)

Thanks!

Hey!
I got your PM - I'm getting all my Mad Hatter ideas gathered for you.

As for cakes, you can get a 6 inch birthday cake made at almost any major restaurant. You don't have to order them in advance, you can do it when you check in. But you can call in advance and tell them about it too. These cakes are $21, unless that's changed recently.

If you want a larger or custom made cake, you have to order those in advance from the Disney cake hotline. They can do all sorts of things for you with that. I think it's at least 48 hours in advance that you need to call for those. Here's the number for the cake hotline: 407-827-2253

Heyyy thanks for helping me with the ideas :) I knew i wanted something different for the bridal shower but i didn't know how to put the plan into motion lol.

And thanks for the cake advice! Since we're on the dining plan will they just bill me the cake at the end of the meal or will i need to pre-pay it?

Hi! I am doing this for my DH as well! We are doing it while we are dining at Rose and Crown on his bday! You can get a small cake, not decorated or personalized, by telling the podium when you check in. But if you want a themed personalized cake, then the cake hotline is the way to do. For example, a Mickey shaped cake.

I wish they had a website to see the different kind of cake options.

One question...will they wrap up the left overs and send to the resort for you? Or do you have to carry them around with you. June is going to be warm!! :sohappy:

The day after we arrive 9/25 is my brothers 14th birthday and getting him a cake would be pretty cool.

I cant believe they dont have a site that gives you some options to order this so you at LEAST have some kind of clue as to what youre getting into.

I am ordering a cake as well for my Mom's birthday while we are there. We are going to have it at Ohana, on the actual date of her birthday. :) I can't wait.

I may also order one for my DH & I for our anniversary, but since we moved our trip up to Sept, I may hold off. That was our plan to begin with but we will see. I may still do it.

Anyway, I posted a cake thread several weeks ago & when we all get back with our pictures of our cakes, lets post them in that thread. I think it would be neat to have a bunch of pictures there for others to see. :)

Great idea! I'm going beginning of June. When do you go? If it is before me - let me know what happens to the rest of your cake!! I hope someone here has the answer! :sohappy:

Youd think that while youre there if you tell them you wanna order a cake they could show you some designs they have?

That's a really great question that I also need the answer to! When you say generic cake, do they write on it at all saying "happy birthday" or is it just a plain white cake?

I also want to see some pictures on a website! What if you see the cake and its not what you wanted? I mean, anything in disney is awesome but still...

I believe that there are two choices - chocolate and vanilla. And it is a plain butter cream frosting. I believe they stick a pre-made piece of chocolate on it with some sprinkles. And the piece of chocolate just says Happy Birthday. No ones names or anything like that. Can anyone 100% confirm this? (from what I have read, this is how they do it).

I'm interested in a custom cake as well...

Does anyone know if there are custom cakes for just 2 people? If we get one that feeds 4 or 5 it's ok we'll just save the rest for the rest of our trip lol.

Me too! All i know for sure - is there is a pirate chest and a mickey shaped. So far, i'm leaning towards Mickey since DH is not a pirate.

Thanks! The anniversary one is super cute!! The Bday ones scared me a bit. I think I might call this next weekend - i'll be in an airport for awhile - and then see where the cake hotline tells me to go for images of the cakes. I still can't imagine that they would have you order the cakes blind. Of course, thanks to the thread above, it shows a very sad Sweet 16 cake and I know that is not what they ordered for the bday girl.
