The only thing I'm really interested in is the convention but there is no way I'd be able to fly all the way to Anaheim for it.

I am going to be looking around for the magazine but forget spending $75 just to be able to spend more money.
I'm in. As someone in one of the eleventy-billion other threads said, if you just figure in the face-value of the magazine alone (which one of my trusted acquaintances says is nearly the quality of a coffee table book) as being $60 for the four issues in the year, then there's only a $15 or so cost to "upgrade" to a full membership. If, after the course of this year, I decide it's not worth it, then I won't renew. But I do see more to this than just selling merch (though granted, some of the merch i pretty dang cool). I wouldn't join for "late-breaking" info and rumors... much like Disney Magazine, I'm pretty sure we'll all know well ahead of time. But for obscure photos and archival info, I've already seen some great stuff on the D23 site. So yeah, I'm good with it for now.

I was really leaning towards signing up but the more Im thinking about it, it does not really make sense for me too, nor is it something I NEED to have. God Im getting old. Besides thats like 1.5 MNSSHP tickets.

I've been watching this poll and it has steadily been running 2-to-1 against joining D23 (The "Yes" and "Already have joined" votes vs the "No" votes). Undecided votes not counted either way, since they could go either way. Still, 2-to-1 say NO to D23 this early in the poll. It will be interesting to see if/how that changes over time.

It's pretty sad when 2/3's of Disney fanatics don't like something Disney related. You know they missed the boat on this one (imo).

Like if we ran another poll about how many WDWMagicians saw Wall-E or are going to see 'Up' the numbers would be much closer if not flip flopped.

Disney announced D23 yesterday, the new OFFICIAL Disney Fan club. Details at http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/d23.htm

Are you planning on joining? Let us know in this poll. Thanks!
Beings Disney is always a discretionary type of expense, in the past I would have definitely joined.

I still enjoy my Disney visits but this is just too pricey in these economic times. My discrentiary spending needs to be more selective, just in case.

Because I am a fan, I really want to join. But then reality kicks in. $75 for the priveledge of buying more stuff I can't afford, and getting disney news an hour before we can read it all over the web... wrong place, wrong time. I'm a no.

Heck, it will be on the fan sites before it will probably even be on the D23 site. Just like passholder and DVC member publications are meant to be "sneak peak" type of info. It's always way too late, in reality. I can't imagine a compnay the size of Disney could keep a large variety of this type of info under wraps anyway.

I will be joining, not right now but hopefully within the next month or so. I don't have the $$ right now, but I think it's cool!! and I'm sure they will add cool things for members as the years go on... And like everything else the price of things rarely goes down, so $75.00 might seem cheap a couple of years from now!!!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I feel bad that Disney failed at something but they did. I can get all the insider news on the NET and for a quality magazine, well, Celebrations is pretty top shelf if you ask me, and the magazine was the only thing the club had going for it.

I agree. The only reason I would even think about joining would be the magazine. Sadly, I don't know may people who can justify spending $75 on 4 magazines.

I have joined. At first I was leery, but then I did the math...

Would I most likely buy the magazine.. YES.

Am I a huge Disney Fan... YES

So once I go to the bookstore and buy 4 magazines, for an extraa 11.00 I can be a member. So it was an easy decision. It's only 11.00 more than I already know I would pay anyways.

Also, I think, yes there isn't too much right now to being a member, but in time it will grow. It takes support from the Disney coommunity and such to get it going in the right direction. Everything seems scarce at first.

Remember the launch of MGM, or Animal Kingdom...I remember every saying there is nothing to do, there is so little at the park etc. But they grew into their own. Now a theme park is way different from this club, but you get my point.

Kick in the 11.00 if you already plan on getting the mag, and I know many of us will, and I am sure once the support comes in more benefits to being a member will come.

Oh and hey, those D23 pins rock too. LOL.

I put myself in the definitely...maybe category. I have a feeling that as the D23 concept matures, the exclusive offerings will become better and better. I can envision discount on hotels, food, merchandise, etc. I'm sure they will start to build some actual perks into the program. I think one of the reasons that anyone can get to the D23 website is to whet your appetite for the product. Judging by the comments on this thread, they are not doing a very good job at it!

Just my opinion, but this "club" doesn't seem like it's aimed at the audience who is looking for discounts. It looks like it's more geared towards the fancy pants audience with bottomless bank accounts.

That's assuming the magazines are worth $16 each, and since there's only one out so far, quite an assumption.

I don't see this as a good move by Disney and apparently it hasn't taken off yet like they would have hoped.
