Rough Floors at the Water Parks

Does anyone else feel how rough the floors are at the water parks? Mainly in the wave pool. Can anyone shed any light on this? Why are they like that? Also, any way to protect your feet so they aren't in pain by the time you get out? Thanks :).

in some water parks in spain (my only reference .. never been to any of the WDW waterparks) they nearly have little spikes in the shallow entry areas .. that hurts a lot .. even more so when your feet are sore because they were cooked by the boiling hot walkways :fork:

I used to work at a water park (wavepool) and they had the same thing in the shallow end in so far deep. I was told it was slip protection because if someone slipped and got injured it was a lawsuit. Better getting some scrapes then slipping in shallow water on a slick pool bottom. Yeah.. it hurts.. especially when you get dragged across it for about 10 feet. :(

Heading for the great escape.
The current Mrs Sak has marks on her knees to this day(no sniggering at the back) from the pool at Blizzard beach. She never even felt the skin being worn away as she palyed with the girls.

We have photos from when I was 9 and we spent the day at TL and I spent that long in the Lazy River (of all things!) that I took all the skin off the bottom of my feet and had to be carried back to the car because I couldn't walk!! Don't ask me why I didn't feel the pain at the time!

Those rough floors really hurt when you get hit by the wave and dragged back up into the shallows!

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I know that lawsuits aren't exactly the best thing in the world, but those little buggers hurt! Water shoes are probably your best option

I noticed that the pool near Crush 'n' Gusher is quite a bit smoother. I usually just hang out down there when I go to TL. Plus it's more quiet down there and I'm right near the awesome slide.

I just remember going in the bigger pool in both parks this past year and I was in such pain. Then when the waves take you, brutal, lol. I guess next time, if I try going in, I'll do so with water shoes.

I have scars on my elbows from the shallow end of the wavepool @TL.
Not a good idea to be sitting down when a wave is approaching :hammer:.
