Not doing Magical transportation...

Magical Express probably wouldn't take any longer than renting a car would. It's an enjoyable ride as well. It also makes getting back to the airport much more convienient.

Do you really think it is faster than renting a car? I would agree if you were renting offsite and had to take a shuttle to the rental office, but if they are onsite, that could take just a few mins.

We took the Magical Express in the middle of July and it was quicker than what it normally takes us to rent & pick up a car. Plus, if you use Magical Express you won't have to wait for your luggage, so that takes off some time too.

We barely waited at all for our Magical Express bus, we enjoyed the ride, and our luggage was really quick to arrive at our room. Less than 3 hours. I'd say to give it a try, as I don't think anything else is necessarily guaranteed to be any quicker.

because we want to hurry up and get there. Can anyone suggest the best way to get there?
It's an incorrect assumption to assume that DME will get you there slower than other forms of transportation.

The great equalizer is that with DME you don't have to wait for your luggage.

The last time I used DME, it was 56 minutes from airplane exit to resort. Assuming a 10 minute walk from the gate to either baggage claim or DME, that leaves 46 minutes. It's about 30 minutes to drive from MCO to the resorts. That leaves 16 minutes in play. If it would take 16 minutes for you to wait for your luggage and then wait for the driver to bring the car and then load the car, etc., then you would TIE me in getting to the resort, except that it cost you $120 or more round-trip and it cost me ZERO.

I can understand that it's natural to assume DME would be slower than a private ride ... but it's not an accurate assumption.

Depends on what sort of perks you have.

I used to have Elite Access on Continental - that means my checked luggage came off first.

I am also Emerald Aisle at National. That means I do all the rental stuff on line. I don't stop at the desk, I go right to the garage, get in the car I want, and give the person at the exit my credit card and license.

Even with those time savers, it would take me more than an hour to get to my resort. With the 8 to 10 times I have used DME, it has taken a consistent 90 minutes from gate to resort lobby,

If you have to wait for your luggage, or have a lot to carry, or have to wait in rental car lines, it could very well take longer.

A vote for Tiffany Towncar Service. I used it on my first trip and we had our luggage loaded and in the car before the first person in the ME line was even finished at the counter. Worth EVERY PENNY!!!! No need to wonder (or worry) about your luggage. We were super early getting to the resort so we checked our bags (watched the bellman lock them in a a large walk in closet type room) and ran off to the park!

Thats my thought exactly, the Magical Transpotation really get you in and out , even when we went in April during school vacation it moves very quickly....And we were compareing it to September our normal Vacation time which thats super quick as well. You figure you get into the airport, you might need to take a schuttle to the rental place, you usually need to wait in line before you make it to the counter and hope your rental is ready on time. Then the travel time to the parks, ...I don't know we've had experience with doing rentals and its fine, but to me Magiacal Express IS quicker....Just my 2 cents!!

I'm curious how you could possibly know this. You had to go to baggage claim, and therefore you weren't anywhere where you could observe the DME counter, which is on a different level than baggage claim.

If you somehow saw the DME counter later (which I still can't understand, since it's all the way to one side and there'd be no reason for you to be in that area), the first person in line at that moment came in on a later flight thatn you did.

I just really don't understand how what you wrote makes any sense ... again, please explain how, given constraints of both time and place, you can possibly know that someone from your flight who went directly to the DME line and didn't stop to shop or eat or use the bathroom was still in line by the time your vehicle was ready to go.

I'm eager to read this explanation, as it just makes no sense to me.

My vote is for DME...there is nothing better for us! Not having to sit and wait for our luggage is a great perk. Just check-in at the counter and off we are to the bus..the bus usually does not wait long at all until it leaves. Usually we've been lucky enough to get from the plane to our resort in an hour, hour and a half.

Another vote for Magical Express! We rented a rental car at the airport in 2006 and I probably wouldn't do it again (mostly because driving out of the airport was very confusing to us and we got lost a couple times ). If I were to do a rental car, I would get it on Disney property (just because we know the area a little bit better). Magical express was quick, easy and I loved not having to go wait to claim our bags. Plus, the ride was a lot of fun too. Really gets you in the Disney mood before you arrive!

Unless you have to go off property for something, I would say that all other things being equal, DME wont cost you much more in the way of time than any other option. Belle
