If I remember correctly, Disney used to always change ticket prices on 1 January. Then last year the didn't and instead did it in August, saying that from now on, there wouldn't be a fixed date for changes, but that rather they would change them "when necessary".
But, it was a while ago, my memory isn't what it used to be... :shrug:

There were two price changes last year one Jan. 1st, right before I became a CP. I bought my fiance a AP renewal voucher for christmas and it was a change from what it was when she actually came down to visit me and then again in August I believe to their current prices, prices were different when I got down there late December and didn't change on New Year's Day, so I don't believe they have changed since then.

Hmmm, I might purchase my 10 day no expiration tickets sooner knowing this to lock the "cheaper" rates in. I always assumed the prices always went up on January 1st. Even though they stated they will raise prices when necessary, August is looming, and I can't see them passing a year since the last increase without another increase...

Just a word of caution before you do that...on the one hand it's a great way to save some money, but on the other hand, it's a big pain in the butt. At least if you like to purchase the dining plan. In order to purchase the dining plan, you have to get a magic your way package, with at least one day's worth of park admission. So if you buy a 10 day ticket with no expiration, planning to split it between more than one trip, just remember that if you want to do the dining plan, you'll have to buy at least a one day park ticket for each trip. And if you're one who likes to split your stay between two resorts, keep in mind that you will have to purchase theme park tickets for each resort.
If I had thought of these things before buying a 10 day parkhopper with NE last year, I might not have done it because it's almost more hassle than it's worth.
Of course, if you don't do the dining plan and if you don't split your stay between two resorts, then buying a 10 day parkhopper with NE is really a good deal.

They increased twice - the first was the annual price hike and the second occurred with the introduction of the MYW tickets
Magic Your Way tickets were first introduced January 2, 2005......

Usually, word gets out a day or three in advance...as long as you're keeping an eye on things, I wouldn't necessarily jump to buy them right now today.

We're planning on booking our Sept. 08 trip in a few weeks. If we book it now are we locked into the cheaper prices from when we booked or can they raise the amount since our trip is so far away?
You get the tickets for the current prices, if you buy them now. You do not get the current room rates, you get them at the 2008 rate.

I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions but I've never booked a trip to WDW (grew up with a AP).
Do they give us a set payment plan? Or do we set our own?
I mean would they inform us after we booked if they raise prices after the fact.
