Well, maybe that 2 hour drive to A.C.Moore in Chattanooga is in my near future. If I knew for sure I could get that little machine for $129, I'd leave right now. I could be back by bed time. :lookaroun

Kat - Don't tempt me. I could leave the kids at grandma's house.
I am hoping the price will come down a little when the newer model hits stores but we'll have to see.
I'm keeping my eyes on those sale flyers.

I'm hoping to try the wishblade next week at the scrapbooking convention. Then I can see which one I HAVE to have. Of course I need one of them! That Mickey certainly has me leaning towards a cricut right now!

Well believe it or not, I just thought it was worth checking again to see what the bids were and $135 was my limit. The shipping happened to be about half of what everyone else was charging so I thought I had nothing to lose. Now I just have to get that Disney cartridge to go with it. I'll be back on ebay shortly.
Luckily I have a birthday coming up so I will just pay the bill with the cash I get from mom and mom-in-law. So, you are officially off the hook with hubby.

I just found this thread and I have to say I am a Cricut maniac! I love mine. I have the Mickey cartridges and plan on using them this weekend! I can't wait. I am a scrapaholic. I also own a Silhouette, but dispise it since it has to be hooked up to my computer (which is Vista and won't work with their software to download more images).

Yes yes please post pics!! I'd also like to know more about the silouhette and why you don't like it? Are they updating their software for it? Can you cut any font on your computer? And what kind of images can you cut? Sorry for all the questions!!

Silhouette requires a computer to run. It uses the same software as CraftRobo to cut, but you have the ability to download images from Quickutz. You buy the downloads on a card and use them that way. Any True Type Font can be used, which is nice since you can find a lot of them for free on the net or use scrappinfonts.com for more specialized ones. Also if you want to take this to crops/workshops, you better have a laptop since you can't take the desktop with you.
Vista is not supported until July 2007 on the downloads. Supposedly you can still use the software on Vista, but cannot download. I can't even get their software to install. Right now mine is still in a box collecting dust because of this.
From time to time Quickutz offers free downloadable images, but you have to be able to download them right then to get them. Also if I move laptops/computers you have to call them to see if they will switch over you images since they are encrypted.
This is in general why I love the flexibility of my Cricut vs Silhouette. I just popped in the cartridge and I was on the go cutting instead of my Silhouette still in the box after 4 months. I even tried to call their support to get help and was kind of brushed off with a wait until July 2007...well after spending $300 I didn't want to wait any longer. That is part of my fustration.

Was at our local Wal-Mart last night and noticed they are carrying the Cricut machines in the store for $194 and cartridges for $69 (including the Disney ones!).

I don't post often but...
Beware of the cricut is VERY addicting and amazing. I love my little bug, even my husband likes it. It will cut anything includine aluminum foil (I needed silver paper but it was too expensive>)
I will be using it a bunch on Mon. and will post pics. if you want.

It was really easy to put together. The hardest part for me is not wasting paper. So yesterday I cut all the shadows in black for about 5 different poses. Then I cut out all the red pieces, yellow pieces, white pieces, etc. and put them in individual baggies labeled with which page they went with and the sized I cut them. I have to run out and get a good color of paper for the tongue to finish.
Here is another part I got hung up on. The book does not show the white pieces...meaning they leave that section blank since the page is also white. If a shape is not available they put not available in the spot. So when I wanted the white pieces I had a hard time right off knowing which one to press until I figured out they printed the white cutouts on white paper so you could not see them. Once I got past that it was a breeze.
I will finish the tongues on the two I got done last night and scan them in to view. I have more cut out I need to put together so I will post those when I have them finished as well.
