Isn't it time for a new Universe of Energy?

Feel the flow....of what....the current script is over 10 years old when gas used to stay around a dollar a gallon?!

I've watched video from both the original and current versions of the universe of energy....isn't there a way that a new show can take a que from both of these?

The original preshow used the amazing radok screens, I doubt those will ever come back, but can't a new preshow, even on flat screens present the main sources of energy?

Walking into the theater, guests saw those bright golden curtains, and the theater was far more welcoming....I don't mind the black curtains, I'm just saying...:p

The dinorama was amazing! This needs an overhaul to the days of smells, fog, and sheer goodness.

The energy information theater...the original show did present a very scientific and educational message on future energy sources, while the current show does this in a lighthearted way, half the energy information theater is dedicated to Jeopardy!

Can't a new show, perhaps give us somewhat of a lighthearted approach to new energy sources, but alteast dedicate the entire showing of it to that?

Also, the finale of the original ride was amazing with the mirrored walls....can't a nice new ending be possible?

Thoughts, opinions? :drevil:

Yes! The length isn`t a problem; let those who want to queue for Soarin` and TT do so - and let those wanting an immersive, Disney-at-its-best show enjoy a new UoE as they recall the days when ALL EPCOT Center attractions were over the 10 minute mark.

Well, I have to admit that I was a late-80s baby, which means that I grew up in the 90s. Ellen's Energy Adventure opened in September of '96 after making a 14-year run of the Original Universe of Energy. I was only 8 when UoE changed to EEA, so I don't remember the original UoE at all.

But to make my point: I absoultely love Ellen's Energy Adventure. Although I love the humor and cast (Bill Nye is my hero! :-D), I do think that it needs to be somewhat updated to today's standards and information. A lot has changed since 1996 in the means of energy. We now have hybrid and Ethanol vehicles. Gas is a lot more expensive and is one of the worlds largest exports.

So maybe some minor updating is needed, but if it is, I sure hope they keep the current actors and theming. It would also be cool to update the dinorama with some of Dinosaur!'s animatronic technology, although I do have to say that I do enjoy the cheesy 80s dinosaurs at this attraction! :)

I could live with it for another five years.

Once five years is up, though, it needs a substantial update! :lookaroun

I think the success of Ellen's new show (she just got ANOTHER Emmy) is preventing them from doing much with UoE for awhile. Relations between Ellen and the Mouse aren't great (she's mad they won't do a Nemo sequel, they don't like her buddy-buddy broadcast relationship with Universal), and they'd have start from scratch with a new host.

I just don't see them doing it while she's so popular right now (probably more popular than she has ever been). They will be hard pressed to find someone of similar stature to host the attraction, and my guess is they will leave well enough alone.

I guess I'm too much of a purist, because I like the ride in its current state and have no desire to see it change.

I love Ellen's Energy Adventure. It's hilarious and about 45 minutes of a/c. What's wrong with that? Plus, kids like it. You would be hard pressed to find a little kid awake through the old UoE.

It needs major reworking. The show is about fossil fuels mainly, which is not the mainstream anymore. The ride needs to have more stuff about everything from biodiesel to Einstein.

They ought to have a field day with this ride at WDI. It is one of the most shameful parts of EPCOT. It was great back in the day, but it has lost its message for today's world.

I dont think it needs that much of a face lift, maybe they could cut out some of the movie and make it more ride oriented. Like show the same things, but as your floating by in your car. That would be better.

No, i find Ellen's Energy Adventure to be so good. I find it so funny still and my mom and i use the words "stupid Judy" quite a bit.

I also find the energy topics to be really good as well. I take a lot of environmental science classes in school and many of the conversations we had about energy are addressed in the current Universe of Energy. Admittedly, they will eventually need to update the information, but right now i find the ride perfect.... That and it's my dad's favourite attraction there. He hates all the cartoony, thrill ride additions to Epcot and finds ellen's energy adventure to maintain the educational aspect that he loves.

I hate the thought of a day where i would have to inform him they're changing ellen's energy adventure into some sort of monster's inc. or meet the robinsons themed attraction.

I agree, it does not need to be pixarized or meet the robinsonized, I like it as is too even though it could use some type of walk through showcase at the exit or something, and spruced up a bit here and there and bring back something unique like the rotating screens, but love the dinasoar ride through part.
Someone on here not too long ago said they need to update the Ellen animatronic that looks like Lady Elaine Fairchild, now that was the funniest post I have ever read!!

Fossil fuels are certainly mainstream...the whole world revolves around them. We have lots of ideas and small implementations of other fuels, but fossil fuels are what drive the vast majority of just about everything. How many people do you know who drive a car that doesn't run on gasoline? Probably not many.

The message of the attraction is that we are always looking and discovering new technologies to help us, and talks about how we have used energy in the past and again how we can better use it in the future. At this point it would be silly to address the individual newer options in a theme park attraction because quite frankly we don't know which ones are fads and which ones will last.

I think what you are saying is that you wish they were presenting bleeding edge energy possibilities and participated in the great energy debate that is now going on. I don't think that's the point of the attraction. The point of the attraction is to give you an idea of what we use, consume, and how we have done so thus far, and to look forward on our own to new possibilities.

It's no where near as "out of date" as some people put forth. The only part that I know some people cringe at is the line about the affect of Global Warming still being a debate; I actually agree with the attraction in that case, but I'm sure a certain segment of doomsayers get all hot and bothered over that one.

This isn't a classroom, or a museum. It's supposed to give you an overview of the topic in an entertaining theme park atmosphere. I honestly don't see EEE going anywhere any time soon, and wouldn't it be shameful if it did before they fix an actual-for-real-needing-help attraction like WOL.

I've been skipping that ride since I was 10 years old. It just doesn't do it for me. So yeah, I think they need a major update. The thing just makes me wanna :snore: :snore: :snore: :snore:

Personally, Ellen's Energy Adventure is my favourite ride, and I have no desire to see it change. :lookaroun

It's both funny, thanks to Ellen, and educational (when I was little I actually had no idea I was being educated!), thanks to Bill Nye the Science Guy. People don't tend to fall asleep on the long ride so often, and it brings in guests. Pluss, Ellen's kinda popular now a days (I heard she got pregnant a while ago ;_; ), so that's another reason for guests to come and see the show.

Although, if it had some minor updating to today's status with energy and such and kept the theme and all the cast, then I wouldn't mind at all.

i rode it for the first time in 12 years this past fall so it was my first ellen experience. besides my bum falling asleep, it was the quickest 45 minutes. really. we got into the final theater and i looked over at sam with amazment that it was already over. i think it needs help, but at least it is running and doesnt have the fate of WoL at this moment

I think it needs an overhaul. For one thing, get rid of Ellen. She's not funny and to me, ruins the theme of the show.
No one knows who Bill Nye is, except for a few of us.
It also needs updating with regards to alternative fuels.
I liked the first version way better.
