Is anyone excited for this new flick? Seems like some people are on the fence about it, and I was wondering what everyone thought.

By the way, apparently before the movie starts they are showing the old Mickey/Goofy/Donald short "Boat Builders"....which would be an awesome trend to follow for future releases!

I personally want to see it. I didn't think that it looked very good at first but, after I heard that therer had been some retooling and I saw the new previews, I want to see it.

I would like to see it. That's real cool if it's true about the whole short cartoon played before the movie. Will it be in the style of those old cartoons, or a brand new one? :)

Count me in for being excited for Robinsons. I think it looks very good all around. Hopefully the public will think the same way.

Having said that, I think it's kinda bad timing that this followed Robots. Granted, that came out two years ago, but the fact that both movies were based on William Joyce stories and feature similar character designs could prompt some unwanted comparisons. I mean, personally I thought Robots looked neat, but I really didn't care about the characters at all, and the voice acting was crap. Hopefully, if there are other people who thought the same as I did, they don't immediately write off Robinsons just because of the small similarities in appearance and origin.

Saw the 3D version of the movie last night and we really enjoyed it. Meet the Robinsons wasn't as "hilarious" (as advertised) as I expected it would be, but still good fun, lots of laughs, with a wonderful message.

Prior to the film, we were treated to the 3D short, Working for Peanuts, with Chip and Dale, and Donald.

Donald is the man...or duck. So glad they've decided to play shorts before the films again. John Lasseter's idea?

I just got back from seeing Meet the Robinson's in 3D!! I thought it was fantastic. The movie had lots of heart and some memorable characters. The Bowler Hat Guy is classic. I also enjoyed the Donald Duck short. Took me by surprise. I would definitely see it again and would recommend it to anyone.

Why I <3 Disney right now...

Reason 1: They played a vintage Mickey Mouse cartoon from 1938 before "Meet The Robinsons".
Reason 2: The new castle logo design...amazing.
Reason 3: Meet the Robinsons was so good.
Reason 4: The entire movie centered around a Walt Disney quote.

Spoiler Alert:::::::

Reason 5: The movie ended with this quote; We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
Walt Disney

...anyone else cry at the end when that quote came up??? I had a feeling it was going that what because I really felt the whole movie was a tribute to Walt!

I couldn't agree more with what you said! Heck, I about cried when they had the cartoon short "build a boat" in the beginning! It was nice not to watch in 3D though.. that hurts my eyes...(I always see the muppets 3D tho!)

I TOTALLY teared up when I saw the Walt Disney quote at the end..........I was feeling the warmness of all the Disney World fans out there at that moment. Big group hug !!!!!!!:o

I just got back from seeing Meet the Robinsons. I was looking forward to the release of this movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually left the theater smiling, which doesn't happen too often. Anyone else spot a Hidden Mickey in it?

My husband and I saw it tonight and really enjoyed it. I definitely got the feeling that it was a slight homage to Walt. And you gotta love the Wat Disney Animation studios logo. Very, very cool! Also it was wonderful to see a classic short before the movie. :sohappy:

Oh, and the quote at the end was icing on the cake!

Saw the Movie (regular not 3D) and the Mickey short! My family enjoyed it! I thought it was neat to see scenes/objects that resembled rides at Disney!

You really oughta edit in a "spoiler alert." Some people like to discover things like that on their own. :)

But, yeah, it was touching. In fact, I thought it was the best part of the movie. Overall, I thought it was just OK. The humor was quirky, which I like. Bowler Hat Guy has the funniest lines. His resemblance to Snidely Whiplash was a bit distracting. But I'm sure most audience members won't have any idea who Snidely Whiplash is.

There are lots of oddball characters, but they seem to exist just for the sake of being oddball characters.

A better movie that has similar themes is "The Last Mimzy." It's a much smarter movie with more heart than "Meet the Robinsons." But, hey, see 'em both. My boys, 12 and 7, liked both.

Meet The Robinsons was fantastic. We got to see it in 3D. To me, it is a futuristic classic. It has a great message in it.

Just a little FYI on the 3D glasses.

The 3D glasses are NOT the cheap blue/red type that you see in a store. They are hard black plastic 80's sunglasses style with super light gray colored lenses. They come in a plastic bag.

We took my two year old and had to buy him a seat ticket in order for him to get a pair of the glasses. I am not sure if that is policy everywhere, but that was the case at the Rave in Destin, FL with us. In addition, my two year old had a little trouble keeping his glasses from sliding down his nose. Fortunatly, I had my sunglasses strap thingies with me and just rigged the glasses to better stay on his head. Problem solved. My 5 year old had no problems.

I think I may have seen a hidden mickey but I am not sure. If you saw the hidden mickey, could you please PM me a hint of where it was? Thank you in advance.

When I first saw a preview for this movie last summer, I thought to myself, "This looks so stupid".

I saw it tonight and I LOVED it. It was such a great movie. I also saw it in 3-D (first time watching a movie like this) and it made it ten times better. To anyone who is skeptical to watch this because their eyes hurt in some of the shows at the parks (Philharmagic, ITTBAB), this is NOTHING like that. It looks amazing. Everyone was clapping when the Donald short "Working for Peanuts" came up. I think it'd be awesome if they did this before every feature.

The movie was so funny and honestly it's a lot funnier than ANY of the stuff in the previews. The T-Rex thing is a lot funnier when it is incorporated into the film and even if you've seen the preview 456456 times you'll still laugh (anyone who has seen it knows why).

Bowler Hat Guy is awesome by the way and the whole story and how it plays out is really cool.

I just got back from viewing it tonight and it was fantastic! This one's a winner. I was pretty excited about it beforehand and I'm happy it came out well. The Disney Digital 3D was great too and it had similar polarized lenses like they do for the the 3D shows in the parks, not the cheap red and cyan cardboard glasses. Good story and it was great how it ended with the family. The quote was a great touch too along with the short in the beginning, I really enjoyed this film.

I saw the film last night and HOLY CANOLI I was amazed. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I think we're at the start of a new Disney Renaissance in animation. Seriously.

My favorite part was where they introduced the Robinson family while looking around the house. I think I laughed for five straight minutes, and I was laughing so hard that TEARS started flowing. It was great.

And I loved the message. It was so inspiring and touching to me on a personal level. The Walt quote at the end didn't make me cry, but it did give me chills. And I also thought the soundtrack was excellent.

Review time! There are some SPOILERS in here at times.
Here's what I said a few days ago:
Count me in for being excited for Robinsons. I think it looks very good all around. Hopefully the public will think the same way.
Okay. So.
I hate to deviate from the crowd here, but the movie wasn't great. In my opinion, the first half was waaay to fast. It really could've used another 10-15 minutes of exposition for a couple of reasons:

A.) It would've let you warm up to the characters a bit more. Honestly, most of the Robinson family seemed to be introduced just for their sheer weirdness. More than half of them seemed pointless except for being goofy background characters. It was like "Okay, come out, be weird really fast, then shrink to the background. Then, at the end, reflect about how great the family is!" What? Half of 'em didn't do anything!

B.) It would've let you catch more of the jokes and visual puns. There were an awful lot of laugh lines and visual gags that passed by with no laughs in the theater because, by the time they had registered, the movie already had zipped off to something else.

Another thing I noticed was that the movie just starts off with no real hooky beginning. It's literally just "Movie Title, then Story Start Now!" but with no little introduction. No opening credits, even. I don't know I explained that very well. A good example of it being done right is Lilo and Stitch. It starts off with Lilo swimming with fish during the opening credits. Is it integral to the plot? No, not really, but it's a good introduction to both the main character and the movie.

Now then, having said all that, it's definitely worth pointing out that there was lots of good stuff in Robinsons, too. There were plenty of neat things present, both major plot points and minor details ("Little Doris sleeps with the fishes now" was a great line). And the second half/third of the movie was very good. Pacing, plot development, character arcs - all very nice. Almost like they had to shotgun the first chunk of the movie out super fast so they could then be free to wrap it up at the right pace. Honestly, it was really saved by the last 30-40 minuted, in my eyes.

And though I enjoyed the Walt quote at the end, It almost felt a little forceful. In all honesty, a Walt quote about moving forward really would've been better suited for Chicken Little, given that it was the first all-CG Disney movie. Or, in other words, the movie that "moved the studio forward". Of course, I get the significance of why it's in Robinsons, and I'm not complaining about a Walt quote. I simply think that, if it had to be incorporated into this movie, it could've been a little less...obvious. I mean, "Keep Moving Forward" was said probably a good 20 times.

So there you go. I'd give it a C+/B- for now. I'm gonna see it again on Sunday (not in 3D this time), so we'll see if it gets better the second time around.

(Oh yeah, and the hidden Castle was a nice touch!)
