New Paint at Spaceship Earth

I don;t know if anyone has posted on this but the back part of SE has been re-painted a dark tan color. Not the geosphere, but the corporate lounge building that faces the fountain (the bldg with the big tinted windows). I don't know when this was done but I do hope this stops with the building. I wouldn't be able to handle a gold SE. Does anybody know if the new paint is something from Siemans or was it done a while ago. I didn't make it to WDW in 06, I just noticed this in late Jan,07.

Hmmm, interesting, didn't notice when I was there on Friday, I guess I just wasn't really paying attention. Thanks for the info.

Anyone else notice though how dirty it appears thegeosphere is getting? I'm not talking about the spot, on Friday it looked like there was a good chunk all the way around the geosphere that looked filthy...maybe it was just me though.

Not just you goofy, it was/is getting dirty.

I assume from all the work going on in and around it lately. The work to remove the blue tiles probably kicks up lots of dust (the sandblast the old concrete to remove it) and that was being done in the area right by Guest Relations.

I'm pretty sure it was still blue last week. Also, for a long time, the back of the support legs visible from the monorail had "patches" particularly on the East side, but then recently on the West, and then the West ones seemed to have gotten a base coat last week making them less visible. So, perhaps the whole thing is in the process of a repaint.

I found a small pic of the new color

This is small but you can clearly see the tan color on the corporate lounge.
This was taken the last week of Jan 07

I am a deuteranope, but in my pics from May 06, as well as May 05, the color looks just about the same as the pic above. Certainly not blue, in any event. They may have put a fresh coat on recently a little darker, but the hue seems to have remained the same...

Oh, I thought he meant the side walls.

Honestly, for some reason I did. The ones which used to have the murals of technology and stuff (near the exit doors), those got painted blue shortly after Siemens signed on, and I thought they were becoming brown now.

I don`t remember the murals; were they added in `94 or when AT&T left? My best memory was when they were all silver pannels (and it said Earthstation above the entrance) and the rear and stair columns were pale blue.

Martin shows his age....

I don't remember that blue color ever being there. To be quite honest, I think both colors are bad (but the tan is a bit better).

Good old Disneypix; May 2005: http://www.disneypix.com/EPCOT/FutureWorld/2005a/FW0505-011.htm

Correct me if I`m wrong, but isn`t this the base scheme for Innoventions too?

Oh... August 2002.... http://www.disneypix.com/EPCOT/FutureWorld/2002b/FW0802-34.htm

Oh dear... http://www.disneypix.com/EPCOT/FutureWorld/2000/FW0100-06.htm

Looks like the blue went with the Millenium changes. At least the tan still looks good today!
hmmmm, weird. martin. the only thing showing up in your post is the top line but when i quoted you i got all of this. did you edit? yep, i see it now.

MAN that is pink! i dont remember that

Whoa, was that taken from the walkway to Imagination? Where now its a hill with art sculptures and stuff on it.

That's the wrong side of the Innoventions/Communicore. Club Cool, Pasta Piazza, Character Connection, and the Special events hall should be visible in that photo from that spot...

I think this is before Pasta Piazza existed...

Edit to add: From that angle, you'd be standing roughly where the Fountainview currently exists.

I just looked at my photos from December 2005 and December 2006 and both of them show that the sides (the corporate building) of SSE are tan/brown - matching the colors of the walls on innovations. I vaguely remember them being blue in the past - and I certainly remember the murals (ack) - but I don't remember them being blue within recent memory at least.

Yep - there is one god ugly pin station in the way now. That was the original layout of the plaza between the Communicores - with lakes, rivers and bridges. Plus lots of grass instead of concrete.

And they call todays mess progress?
