Looks to be the best photo I've got..

But, under the silver panels, next to the tan column, blue.

Where I beleive the mural panels used to start, and on the other side of the column where the rehab walls are, they should be the same.. *tries to find the pic of the innoventions signs being torn down that shows that wall that someone else took*

jmaxwell - somewhere!

Merf; those blue pannels on GN behind the wall.... arn`t they earlier part of a construction wall? Remind me, did GN have `doors` as such? I can only remember the glass partitions (no doors) of Earthstation.

The building follows a curve, and then recesses, inward, and in that alcove is where you'd fine the glass sliding door you probably remember. That's seperate, to keep light out, from the outside world by a "baffle" of sorts that's a continuation of the curve of the main wall structure.

So you came out the sliding glass door (on the east or west side), and viola - wall - then you went either north or south.

Nope... no pics on the HD. Not yet anyhow (the cataloguing system is in a bit of a mess) I`ll try to find a web pic, however I should say the original plaza landscaping was removed during the `94 Innoventions construction. The Pin Station was added around the same time as Millenium circus theming.

:hurl: In my opinion, that blue is just downright ugly. It seems so out of place and not nice looking. Tan may not be the prettiest color, but it certainly looks better then blue.

Ah yes, the sides of the building I do remember being blue, just the front of the building I always remember as tan.

Not sure what the colors are all about, but the "you may be asked to leave the park" warning sign was gone when I rode today. About time!

Also, The innoventions cube shaped signs are coming down. Two are gone already and I expect others to be gone soon. Seems kind of stupid to get rid of them. Anyone know if they are going to be replaced?

Ok, i'm going to take this opportunity to be a huge nerd -

Anyone here ever read LotR? I'm talking about the part at the end they left out of the movie - where the hobbits come back to the shire and it's all messed up, dug up and paved over...that's what the 94 rehab did to the original plaza(s). Before we had grass, trees, knolls, and water. Now we have tombstones, concrete and pin stations. Murals have been painted over. Doors have been plugged up. Someone better alert the FBI, I think 'sharkey' is hiding out in Epcot somewhere...

Even so, not everything is black and white. Looking back on it, the original look of the plaza had kind of a sterile feeling - it's good to see it spiced up with some color. I like how the tan hue interacts with the blue(ish) geosphere.

Now if only they'd make EarthStation useful again by putting something useful in it - like the tip board - invented new pavilion icons for a new generation, took down the wand, brought back dreamfinder, turned test track into something that isn't embarrassing, I think I stand a chance at not losing my mind.

The original Earthstation scheme; blue was very pale, and matched the Geosphere legs and some of the original entrance canopies. The silver was semi reflective to match in look the Alucabond pannels on SSE. The scheme was reminiscent of the original Tomorrowland entrance at the MK.

Marni, you need to write a book. Thanks for the info, and I'm anxious now to see what is going on...Does anyone have a good picture of it?
if martin writes a book, im volunteering my services to help with the design and layout. i may not know a fraction of what he knows... but i can contribute that way.

hmmm, how long have we had new smilies and i didnt even notice them?

Yeah, I saw all these squares of construction walls but I didn't know what they were for. Not only are there the two in that picture but there's a third outside MouseGear near Test Track.

While it's sad to not see all that outdoor landscaping today, anyone who has seen the park exit after IllumiNations can tell you it's nice to have all the space you can, but I think the space of the landscaping is mostly used for Fountainview/Club Cool and Innoventions signs.

I guess I must be the only person who doesn't mind the activity in the sky behind SSE, the plaza doesn't have much shade and those with shaved or red hair appreciate it, I'm sure. However, I do wish they'd occasionally cycle out the purple/yellow/purple color scheme on SSE at night for the old purple/white/red we see in old pictures. And then there's the old uncolored white lights they used to use occasionally in the old days and never do now.
