CTX/Dinosaur layout vs. DL Indy layout???

I know that both track are the same, I have been on both enough to know where everything is. But it seems a few years ago someone on here posted a layout of both the attractions with everything marked. It had what Dinos were where and what would be there on the Indy attraction. Does anyone have those files or can find the post? I spent a little while but could not find anything.

Before this turns into a "is it" the same thread, yes it is the exact same lay out for the track.

No it's not....Paul Barrie has ridden both and I believe him when he says they're not.

They have the same ride vehicles and that's the only thing that's the same.

No I'm pretty sure the information posted about track layouts showed it is the same for all three versions of this ride. (wdw's dinosaur, DLR's Indy's Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and TDS's Temple of the Crystal Skull.) The sceens, lighting, vehicle trim, and ride programs are all that are different. I've only been on the WDW and TDS rides but even in the darkness of Dinosaur, you can make out certain things like the bridge and the drop at the end and make me think both of these are the same track.

Ummmm this is why I am looking for that ride layout, so I can show him they are the same. Trust me not only are they are the same, but as someone else said, Indy and TDS is the same layout.

One more time... they are identical. I don`t have detailed plans to hand as described in the OP, but let me dig out general layouts of both.

Thats pretty cool that they can use the same layout and yet use it so efficiently to fit the theme of each ride. I've never been to DL, but just riding Dinosaur, it's hard to tell that they used a "preconceived" layout.

It looks to me like there are two differences. One is in the maintenance bay, which guests would never see, and the other is in the "Meet the Carnotaurus" / "Mummy Chamber". On Dinosaur, this is a straight section of track, but on Indy this section winds through the caverns. Otherwise it looks dead on. Pretty impressive that they could come up with two such dramatically different shows. But then again, they did the same with Monsters Inc!

The DAK maintainence bay has a switchback not built at DLC (to the right of the building - not to be confused with the northern service area at DLC)

It also comes down to EMV programming; how two identical ride paths can feel so different. Plus of course the sets and effects. If Dinosaur had all it`s effects working it`d be a different attraction - for example it had the largest smoke effect installation ever designed by WDI!

The reason they are clones is DLCs Indy as built was in final development around 1993 - DAKs Dinosaur Safari was originally outdoors. Eisner wanted it moved indoors, and the opportunity arose to save R&D by taking the Anaheim design - whilst still at early an enough stage to modify the attraction into CTX. There`s also evidence the layout was intended to be installed in Disney MGM Europe, in the Gangster Shoot Out EMV dark ride (also known as the D ick Tracey EMV) - in design at the same time as Indy. Another possible link is the D ick Tracey Crimestoppers originally planned for Sunset Blvd in Orlando - again in design at the same time (and with a very similar name and concept as the DMGME attraction)

All of these can be tracked back to the late 80`s first generation EMV attraction designed for DLP to replace the Jungle Cruise - a design also to include what became the Temple of Peril Rollercoaster. EDLSCA ran out of money, and so the design was taken to Anaheim, where the coaster section was removed but the EMV developed more to the second generation design finally used.

And that concludes todays EMV history lesson....

I was so excited to ride Dinosaur the first time and then was immensely letdown. Jurassic Park River Adventure over at IOA is much better and that's a shame.

AAAHHH!!! Jurassic Park scared the bejeezus out of me. I didn't get Dinosaur. It was like riding Indy with all the lights out, except for the blinding camera flash.

The first time I rode JPRA was at night, and my girlfriend didn't want to, it was great, and scary.

The first time I rode Dinosaur the charging carnataurus made me scream like a girl :veryconfu

It`s a shame as I mentioned earlier all the effects arn`t still working. I`d imagine it`s a budgetary decision rather than the 3rd shifts fault. Imagine;

the lighting all working and at the proper levels so it really is a night time jungle (that you can see) - lit by moonlight

All time vortex doors always working so you can`t see it until you enter it

Both vortexes having the full strobe light compliment, parcan effects, thick smoke and pyrotechnic sparks.

All the jungle fog effects working

Every meteorite that lands sends up a jet of gas

The Cearadactylus fixed and swooping at the EMV

Seeing the hillside the EMV rolls down

The meteor shower (evasive manouvers) landing all around the EMV, knocking its lights out and them hitting several trees, knocking them into the EMVs path

The Iguanodon being caught in a laser net from the EMV just before the 2nd vortex

Dinosaur has quite an intricate plot, as did CTX. It`s a shame the effects need to work to tell it.

Man, this list makes me wonder if I've ever seen all these effects working! And I first visited AK within a year of opening. I do recall the first section in the forest appearing more moonlit that pitch black, but meteors hitting trees and knocking them into the EMV's path--I don't ever recall seeing that.

Hmmm i'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I like JPRA, but the dinos look much better on Dinosaur than they do on JP. The ones on JP have very jerky movements IMO, whereas the Carno and others looks as close to real as your gonna get.
