Why are women dressing as princesses?

Disney does strictly forbid "adult" guests from entering the parks in costume, except during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I do not know what they consider an "adult", but the purpose is so that other guests don't mistake them for actual Disney Princesses. I read of a girl who wore a Cinderella dress to MK on her birthday for breakfast at CRT. The CM's were very nice and escorted her to the Emporium where she picked out some shorts and a shirt to wear. When she got to the register to pay, the CM said it was "on the Mouse" which I thought was very nice as well. Hey, I can't wait to dress like the Evil Queen for MNSSHP this year - so what's that make me? :lookaroun

I also heard that they do this for "Inappropriately Dressed" guests...hehe

As has been mentioned, and from the location of the photos, they would not have been admitted to the parks. But I say "good for them". Nothing wrong with doing something that can make people smile.

It's harming nobody and is pure fun. People wander around in sport uniforms with nobody saying "you're too fat to be a sportsman" or wearing clothes influenced by the latest pop stars without people crying "You're too tone deaf and ugly to be a pop star"

Remember - you don't stop playing because you get old. You get old because you stop playing.

When I dress up like a princess, I expect strange looks -- especially from my wife and kids. I think they're just jealous because I look FABULOUS! :king:

I was looking back at the photos from our recent WDW trip, and came upon some photos we took of two women dressed in princess costumes.

As we waited for our boat to arrive at the MK boat dock, we noticed a group of people walk up, two of whom were dressed in princess outfits, with the crown, wand (I think)... the whole works. Mind you, they were not kids, they were at least 17+ (if not older), and they did not appear to be mentally challenged...so what is the deal with this?

What are these girls/women thinking? I'm sorry, but it was just bizarre. :lookaroun I was done dressing up for Halloween by 6th grade. They probably just wanted the attention, but come on! The parents need to step in and say, "you're no longer age 7 - time to grow up."

Anyone else noticing this in the parks? It's the first time I've seen something like this.

I'll try to post some photos in my photo album (never done it before so please be patient!)

Wow, nobody's ever heard of cosplay before? Geez... Thing is though that Disney doesn't usually allow guests to wear costumes except around Halloween or at Star Wars Weekends.

Maybe they had mental problems, or disabilities.
:veryconfu

So you have to have mental problems or disabilities to be an adult and dress up like a princess?

I'm almost 21 and I would totally dress up like a princess (well, probably Alice) if I could afford the dresses (I'd fit in the little girls ones).

If you guys think it's so bad that adults have dressed up like princesses or other Disney characters outside of Halloween, that's pretty sad. They're not harming anyone and they're having fun. If you think that's wrong, maybe you don't believe in the Disney magic like you thought you did.

Even though I also find it a bit odd to be dressing up as a Princess at that age, I don't think it's a big deal. If they want to dress up and embarass themselves in public...who cares? They probably just want the attention, so I wouldn't pay it too much mind.

I'm going down for my bday in Oct. & I'm also going to MNSSHP. I plan on wearing fairy wings, a crown & a wand. I think I might wear the crown the entire time we're there. Oh yeah, I'm gonna be 17 & I see absolutely nothign wrong with dressing up while at WDW.

It isn't so much a bad thing, or having a problem with it. It is just that Disney does not allow adults to wear costumes to the parks outside of Halloween (and apparently SWW). That is the rules.
