Indiana Jones Adventure refurbishment

Good news alert 🚨🚨🚨

My friend is at Disneyland today and told me the rope effect is once again working at Indiana jones! The ropes used to move while you vehicle crossed the bridge making it look like you were crossing a bouncy Jones! bridge. I cant even remember the last time I saw this working and thought they had long given up on fixing this part of the ride.

Can’t believe I forgot to report this! They were working when I rode on 1/23. Makes a huge difference to that scene.

I wonder if they are adding a similar effect in the new animal kingdom Indiana jones so they finally spent the time and money on a fix for disneyland. Just seems so wild it would take this many years to get it back

Very nice to have this effect back.
It does make a difference!

And now on to the long defunct ice machine that used to dispense ‘falling rocks’….!

( Hey, I can dream….)

Today’s fun fact from the files of the Tony Baxter Fan Club -

Did you know Tony’s initials are carved into one of the stones within the room containing the ‘Obelisk of Doom’ in the queue?
See pic below…and give it a nod of friendly respect the next time you pass through.
🙂

And you thought his initials were only on one of the transports…

The defunct effect (by their own choice) that I would love back is the moving doors…

Come on Disney. You have the money and expertise.

Man this attraction need another refurb. The boulder doesn’t want to work at times. LOL
I really would like to see effects of falling ceilings back in the queue line or was is the spikes in the chamber with dead corpse?

The changing doors need to come back too.

as compared to the live corpse.

I miss the collapsing ceiling. Too bad everyone runs past it. That long beautiful queue and preshow movie should be used.

I was recently reminded yet again of how fantastic and amazing this Attraction is….despite the work it still needs.

The queue in itself is still an amazing effort in itself.
Just incredibly well done, and still one of THE best ride experience queues ever.

As someone mentioned above, it’s a shame people just race through there and don’t really seem to be noticing the awesomeness around them.
I think part of the reason is because of the way they handle the lines at the Attraction …it’s changed over the years.

Originally, Guests were lined up INSIDE the full queue…and part of the reason the queue was so detailed was because of this.
People were waiting in there an hour or more for a chance to experience this, and all the details and fun Easter eggs were all waiting there for you to look at and discover while you waited.
Remember the IJA ‘Decoder Cards’ the Cast used to pass out when you entered?
You could spend your time having fun trying to decifer all the hidden messages spread around the temple walls.
Not to mention all the cool effects and surprises you could discover in there.
People were inside in line for a long time…with plenty of eye candy to keep them entertained long before cell phones were in everyone’s pocket.

Fast forward to recent years, and the queue use has changed.
Now instead of Guests lingering inside the Temple, most of the time the line is kept outside.
The outside queue is used, and sometimes spills out into the walkway in Adventureland.
Cast let only a certain number of Guests into the inside portion of the queue, thus creating the current situation where people are speeding past all the details and intricately designed areas.

So why was this changed?
Why not keep everyone inside as this was what this huge themed queue was originally designed for?
My guess is Guests were doing too much damage…picking away at paint, tearing at anything their fidgety hands could reach, etc.
I am genuinely interested in learning why the change was made.

The change was clearly done with Fastpass in mind. The merge point is at the top of the ramp before you enter the temple, because they wanted to keep the full queue accessible whether you used Fastpass or not. They'd be able to have more people inside the temple if the queue were built to handle two lines instead of one, but alas.

I wonder if they could reconfigure the exit path to include LL (it seems wide enough to give up 4ish feet of space)
