@donaldtoo -- just an fyi that Mecum Kissimmee is on today (12 noon, EASTERN).

To avoid "pay" channels like ESPN+ (or ROKU Mecum TV Streaming), see link below for the "free" LIVE BLOCK CAM.

AFTER 12:00 EST today, if you click on the (Mecum TV Times link below) -- you'll see a bunch of auction dates. Scroll down BEYOND all the DATES, and you'll see : More Ways to Watch Mecum Moments.

Avoid the left-side (ROKU) panel. Instead, see the right-side panel for the Live Block Cam -- click on the "Watch on YouTube" box tab. Again, the auction comes "live" around noon EST.

Sorry for the late response, and thanks for the heads up, Minnie…!!! :)

I was able to start watching on YouTube at about 3p yesterday, when the ‘54 Austin-Healey 100-4 was on the block. Other than that sweet ride and the ‘70 Chevy ‘Vette that came directly after it, nothing really interested me…until they started rolling out The Jim Nagel Collection cars, at about 3:15p.
The first car that rolled across the block was a ‘29 Ford Model A Phaeton…pretty much the spitting image of my grandfather’s (on Mom’s side) car, that he spent the late 60’s-early 70’s meticulously restoring…!!!!!!! :joyfull::happy:
He bought it new in ‘29, but it became somewhat of a rust bucket (only surface rust) farm car over the years, as he purchased newer vehicles, before he decided to all-out restore it. I remember riding through the pasture in it shortly before he started the full restoration process. He stored it in one of his barns, ‘cause the ragtop was completely gone.

The one in the auction runs, of course, but when I pulled more detailed pics of it up on the Mecum site, after I stopped watching the auction, the engine and engine compartment were a bit rough looking. I also noticed the same in regard to many of the other antique and classic cars in that collection.
I think I may have found the answer as to myself wondering why so many of them were not bringing bigger bucks.

My grandfather, on the other hand, meticulously restored the engine, along with the rest of the car.
I remember him having piles of JC Whitney parts catalogs, which were the go-to back then…’cause, no internet…!!! ;)
It ended up being driven in Mom’s hometown (Shiner, Texas) 4th of July parade several times…!!! :geek:

Not sure if you were able to watch any of this, but that Mecum Model A went for only 18K. Carolyn even said she wouldn’t be opposed to us owning it at that price, or close to it…I about fell over…!!!!!!:joyfull::inlove:
I mean, we can make room for it in the garage for a bit, and then loan it to a museum, or something, to preserve it in a temperature-controlled environment, so as not to incur storage costs, right…???!!!!! 🤔😁:hilarious:;)
I may need to be looking into future auctions ASAP…!!! :geek:

Anyhoo…
A few pics below of the ‘29 Model A, same color scheme as my grandfather’s, and all…!!!:)

The '29 Model A was quite the vehicle, that your grandfather owned. Not many people have those bragging rights! (I also like that he had the same color scheme as the one above for sale at Mecum.)

Only saw bits and pieces of the auction yesterday, so I missed a ton! UGH! I was busy doing some other stuff, but I had it on in the background. (Of course, my ears perked up any time Matt was the auctioneer! :joyfull: )

I kinda like this cutie below ;) . . . (not sure if it was sold, or pending sale). Would be nice to take it for a spin down to the grocery store; but then again, I can't drive a 5-speed manual. And not to mention, I don't have any money to buy it! :hilarious:

It was definitely a fun looking car and a fun one to ride in as well, as it turned many heads…!!! ;)
There were a few pics of my Pop driving it in one of the aforementioned 4th of July parades, but I’m not sure if those were lost in my folks January of 2020 fire or not. And not lost to fire, but to water damage.
One of the first things we found, after we were finally cleared (due to potential structural and/or hazmat issues) to go back into the home, was the big wooden box where they kept the vast majority of their old photos…unfortunately, most all contents were soaked.
All of the black and white pics just needed to be dried out, but the color pics were prone to run/smear, and many did. Those Model A pics were in color.
I took pics (not of single photos, but in groups) of many of the ones we were drying out one day, but I didn’t see those in any of my shots that I just went back through. I’ll call my folks tomorrow to see if I can learn of their fate.
Anyway, as seen below, many a Model A came in that similar green/black/yellow color scheme, as it was, apparently, pretty popular back in that day…!!! :geek:

Sorry you missed so much of the auction, but other than the 3 or so hours I watched of it yesterday, I caught none of the rest of it.
As far as Matt the Hat goes…
Just Google “Matt the Hat auto auctioneer” (actual name Matt Moravec) and you’ll find all kinds of info on him.

😁:hilarious:;)

That Porsche is definitely a “cutie” ;), and I drove 5-speeds for years, but it’s just too bad it ain’t street legal…I need somethin’ I can show off in on public roads…!!!!! 😁:hilarious:;)

I had a doctors appointment early this morning and when I got into the car the windshield was covered with frost. I thought of calling 911 but remembered I had one of those brought from Vermont windshield scrapers in the trunk (boot for my British friends). Emergency averted and I am happy to say that my windshield scraping talents came back to me immediately. Good to know, then I remembered that since had winter windshield cleaner in the washers plastic container I turned on the wipers and like magic the rest disappeared.
