I really hate the whole process of getting a shot. Really I hate needles.
Being considerably older than yourself when I was young it was a whole lot different. I had a situation when I was around 10 years old where I had to get a shot of something (they never told me what) every week for about two months. Seemed like years! Needles back then were sterilized and reused. Overtime they got ever so dull so if you were at the end of it's life it was quite the experience. One even broke during the injection (don't panic it was easily removed and that is no longer a problem anyway). I have to admit that I still flinch when getting one but they are so sharp and quick now that 99% of the time I don't even feel it at all and when I do it is so minor that it almost makes me laugh.

The one that hurt the most when I was 7 years old (1955) was the polio vaccine when it first came out. Again, mostly because of usage and demand was a little painful, but it saved the rest of my generation from a lengthy time in an Iron Lung or, worse yet, death. That was quite the sight to see. Lines formed at Fire Stations and other places to get the vaccine. No conspiracy theories, just people that were less educated, but sometimes much smarter than today's population.

I know that many people like Spectro, but I hated it. To me it was spooky and made me think of a funeral possession. The music was unique, but also weird and don't even get me started on the ghostly white face masks on the cast. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

On the other hand I loved Main Street Electrical Parade. The "Baroque Hoedown" was different, but upbeat and in some form and place that parade still exists around 50 years later.

My previous doctor mentioned to me that even though it's a struggle for patients, to have various tests done (while waiting for a diagnosis), it's well worth the wait. Here's why: doctors test for the worst illnesses first, and then work down the line to less serious conditions.

In other words, they rule out the worst possible outcomes first. Hence, if you feel like your situation is being dragged out with multiple tests, etc. -- your diagnosis may actually end up being far less serious, that originally thought. It's frustrating and all, but try to hang in there.
Thank you for this!! Much needed perspective!

My arm hurts. I got both my Flu and Covid shot today, both in the same arm. I was thirsty a little bit ago and didn't want to lift my arm to reach over for my glass of water. It will pass but its annoying right now. Oh and it is also on the side I sleep on. I take comfort in knowing that my husband's arm hurts from his shots too....misery loves company right?

I’m one of those that has never had a reaction to a shot, sans a little pain if I touch the injection site.
I’ve had Covid and flu together, shingles and no reaction, no problems. My dear Carolyn, on the other hand, has had reactions to most of them.
Sorry y’all had to deal with that.

I really hate the whole process of getting a shot. Really I hate needles.

As many times as I’ve been poked over the years, including shots, IVs, etc., needles don’t bug me at all, and never have, actually.
I watch them give me shots, IVs, etc.
I was recently in the ER for what turned out to be a simple diaphragmatic spasm, but they put me through the mill test-wise, of course. Hey, I’m no spring chicken anymore…!!!!! :hilarious:

Also, I’m definitely no “man cold” kinda’ guy. If I’m sick (which is actually pretty rare), I crawl away like an old dog and don’t wanna’ be bothered…unless both my legs are broken, I can do for myself.
Carolyn (my wife) is similar. She’s a strong woman.

Which brings up another point…
I love my strong wife…!!!!! :inlove::happy:
I knew from the beginning of our relationship, that if something ever happened to me, she would be more than capable of taking care of business regarding our children and all other issues that she might have to deal with. She doesn’t need me, but she does happen to love me, as I love her, and working together simply makes things easier, which also builds more love…!!!!! :inlove:

Sorry for the old man ramble, but, if and when it’s your time to choose a life partner, choose wisely, young man…!!! ;):)

It's 34 degrees outside here now, at 3:30 AM.

(P.S.: Our heat is usually set about 60, which is fine for us. We jack it up to about 65 when temps drop below 20, later on in the winter.)
My dad wants that 34 degrees at night. He wants frost because that means no more cutting the grass till spring and only some parts of Wisconsin got frost. The area he lives in didn't get frost yet.

I figured it was a one stop shop so why not get both. By mid-day today the pain finally went to a dull ache. I can now raise my arm without wincing.

Needles have never really bothered me. I'm a type one diabetic so I do 4-5 shots of insulin a day and before I got a continuous glucose meter I had to do a finger prick at least 4-5 times a day. I got over any discomfort with needles really fast after diagnosis. I can understand why people don't like them, but for me it's life or death so needles are fine. On the flip side I still wouldn't get a tattoo, I don't like needles that much! Plus I don't think I couldn't decide on a place or image I would really want on my body for eternity (I'm indecisive).

The laughing emoji is for the tattoo part. Carolyn and I once talked about getting “hidden” Mickey tattoos several years ago, but have yet to follow through…!!!!! :hilarious:
