Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

the strange thing is they have some good examples of how they can integrate a “golden age of Hollywood” entrance as part of a wider park that doesn’t necessarily share that theme

Hollywood studios has an awful layout but the Hollywood boulevard entrance nails the entry very well, Buena vista street while not being Hollywood itself also carry’s the golden age of the movies theme as a setup for the rest of the park

Meanwhile WDS feels more like “stick a new park at the back of the existing park then hopefully when that new park bumps attendance up enough to justify more upgrades then just rip the entire front half down

On another note I think it’s an interesting question to ask what’s next

One pridelands is open what will the park do next?

Will the attendence be high enough that they can look at “softer” expansions like trying to align the entire park by completely redoing the original layout of WDS or will they go for “lake land 3” still having it struggle against Parc Disneyland

As the only resort where it really feels like an enormous project is on the move as we are basically getting an entire new gate by proxy I really wonder what WDS will do next

I would say that once Pride Lands opens, Disneyland Park will be the one to get something new.

DLP would not be investing money in placemaking the front of the park if this was not expected to remain for the next 10 years as a minimum. We know 'temporary' Disney installations can last for 10 years or longer so in reality the front of the park is what we will have for many years to come. Probably closer to 20 than 10.

If I was to put money on something changing it would be a more significant change to the Crush/Aladdin/Cars/meet and greet 'World of Pixar' area but again I think that would be a project for the 2030s.

Are they really doing much more than world premiere and world premiere plaza

All the rest of the legacy park besides remmy’s courtyard and debatably avengers isn’t being touched as far as i was aware, how much longer will that last

I'm afraid I don't fully understand what you are trying to say but by the opening of DAW in the legacy WDSP the only area that hasn't had any work done to improve it is the original Pixar Toon Studio area. Maybe it means they are happy with that area but I honestly think it is because it is an area they want to revisit in the future.

There is also the area around tower of terror (which as far as I understand that old Hollywood facade in front of it wasn’t changing). The area around the Alice stage show and the entry to marvel alongside toon studios (I guess you could also mention the area near cars road trip)

I guess I also think DHS has the worst layout of all the WDW parks, so maybe it is just me!

I don't mean any snark in saying this, but I honestly don't quite get the above diagram as of course some things are on one side of the plaza and other things are on the other side of it. I do get that there are two paths that lead off from each end of the plaza and there is some symmetry to the placement of structures, but It's not even entirely clear how everything gathered around that big area fits together let alone there being an intuitive logic to the organisation of the park at present. At least for me, or perhaps we're referring to different things.

What seems very different between the existing and upcoming sections of the parks is you have these paths that kind of wind off through different lands that flow one into the other and with some paths that just serve to connect different areas in between. In the new section, there is suddenly a big, open boulevard that leads to a clear focal point around which different lands will be visibly organised. In other words, there is a very clear organisational logic that is very different from the existing park. That is also where it looks like two parks welded on to one another, particularly as there's no ostensible reason within the park's theme that the different areas are organised differently.

Again, though, this seems to be just me!
No I don't think it's just you, we got back on Friday and the feel to the park is just very 'messy'. I do like the new studio entrance and appreciate it's much to do with the weather differences to Orlando. The Avengers area feels nice enough, around the corner and then you're there and the theming feels right. TOT feels a bit just plonked in the middle and the amount of space at the front whilst anything but claustrophobic, feels more like the entrance into a large park but you soon realise that this isn't the case especially on the tight and squashed right hand side.

I wonder how they will change the TOT section because that section worked better before they changed it to world premiere plaza. Now it’s kinda a well designed holdover from the legacy park

I think it will remain the same unless they change the storyline of TOT like in California (I hope they don't). I mean it has to match the era of the old hotel right now. It feels worse exiting the park rather than going in in my opinion as you kind of notice the difference a little more.
