Well yeah it might look like that to someone with presumably no business sense and no real ins at the company but I'm sure from inside it looks like a very different story.

It's not the dinosaur theme that was the problem. It was its execution. A crappy mobile midway just isn't the right fit for a Disney theme park.

It was so much more than that.

I'm amazed at the current discussion regarding Dinoland. Before it was removed, everyone hated it. Now that it's in the process of being rethemed into Tropical Americas it was a "mistake."

I was surprised to find out how many people hated it. Even when pushing Dino-Rama to the side. (There is no excuse for that)

I found it cute. But clunky. The immersion was just lost. I hope Tropical Americas has the same type of immersion you find in the Africa and Asia areas.

Can I like Dinosaurs (the animal/theme) for DAK, and Indy/Encanto?

Dinosaurs deserved better. The boneyard’s paleontology angle was great and they should have expanded that. Not included a parking lot circus.

At the same time, I am excited for Indy, and to a lesser extent Encanto. Bring on new rides with well themed lands.

I just wish we could also have an all-new Dinoland USA.

I was standing outside the exit of Dinosaur into the store for about 20 minutes as my family looked at the merchandise, and I didn't see or hear anyone complaining, let alone saying they HATED the ride. In fact, most people were smiling. Lots of folks clapped as they got off the EMV.

I have my own company and just understand basic economics.

Not a troll, but reducing everyone who disagrees with you as just a "cheerleader troll" on a WDW fan site is a sure-fire recipe to make yourself just look arrogant like come on.

Yeah I don't think people just say "I HATE the ride" so loud people can hear it every 20 minutes.

Especially since its not a terrible ride atleast in my opinion, I just think it could be better as IJ

Well no, I'm rational. I understand that economics and creativity work hand in hand for this business. You have to be a realist. Yes, Disney COULD tear down all of Dinoland and make an amazing dinosaur themed section of their park that is forever compared to their competitor. Just like they COULD make 3 new theme parks because CREATIVITY. They certain have enough ideas + IP to fill 3 more parks if they really wanted to. The proper is, that's not a realistic or good idea. Every Eisner needs Wells just like Walt needed Roy to keep things sustainable or you blow all of your money and the stock crashes when investors realize you have no idea what you're doing and can't justify a huge expense. Staff would get laid off especially higher paying jobs that would not be as essential during stagnation periods like Imagineers. Then where is your "creative sense"? Economics is more than just === make money. It's about how you can balance all the aspects of the company to allow creative to have more capital to spend. Creativity costs money. You can go live in Fantasyland if you want to think that Disney can just write blank checks and say "do whatever we dont' really care".

Looking very forward to the tacky, "fake asphalt," minimal-budget, off-the-shelf wild mouse coaster/Dino carnival being replaced by a lush tropical jungle with a true traditional dark ride, something that DAK can use more of and something that makes much more operational sense in oft-rainy central Florida. And I have guarded optimism that the conversion of Dinosaur to Indy will work out. But we'll have to see.

Yeah because the company is not infallible. There are some times where they can get it wrong but I do think more often than not, the creative and business side compliment each other so.

A quarter of Dinoland (Countdown to Extinction before it got Disneyfied) was a good. It's just everything else wasn't very good.

Every Disney ride could be better and imagine if Disney actually built some of the rides they proposed (Rhine River cruise).

I didn't really hate DINOSAUR. I thought it was good for what it was. Maybe a little too dark. It's the rest of cheap-feeling Dinoland that didn't do the area any favors. In any event, DINOSAUR is easy to retheme to Indy as it is the same ride system as Indy in DL. So, from that standpoint, I won't really miss DINOSAUR.

This particular replacement land will be of considerable interest to watch in terms of the creative output of today’s Imagineering. I know that economics are in play of course, but the degree and quality of theming and immersion will be directly comparable to Harambe and Anandapur. This will give hints as to whether or not the budget is there and/or the current crop of Imagineers are up to the task. I personally think that they are.

My main issue with the Dinoland was that it never felt like a full cohesive land to me

Even though it had more rides than both Asia and Africa, the weird layout and the conflicting aesthetics/concepts made it feel like a very incomplete and uneven experience

Tropical Americas won't increase the park's ride count pre pandemic, but to me it'll feel like a much fuller experience that feels inline with the rest of DAK

Fair, though at least in that movie the Bugs are real animals in a human world, whereas in Zootopia the animals are anthropomorphized human-like animals with human technology, fashion, and culture. Easy to imagine that the Bugs Life characters are real bugs in the real world than it is to imagine Judy and Nick are a real rabbit and fox in the real world.
