Streaming reached a historic milestone in May as its share of total household television usage outpaced the combined share of broadcast and cable for the first time ever, according to new Nielsen data.

But I thought streaming was dead…

But I thought streaming was dead…

That's why I created the thread posted below to document the fall of broadcast/linear TV and the ascendance of streaming.

For all those who thought doubling down on D+ and Hulu was stupid for Disney to do.

Nice to see Andor still in the top 10…. That certainly was a win for Disney… especially after Roque One got increased eyeballs afterwards as well

It's one of the few times (maybe only for Disney) that I can recall a series scrambling back upwards into the top ten several weeks after it finished. It probably speaks to ongoing word of mouth and catch up. However, Andor I would now say has actually done very strongly on streaming.

The Snow White numbers debut is bad.

The Snow White numbers debut is bad.

Yet that probably represents more people watching it than saw it in North America during its entire theatrical run. [Note: Not an endorsement of either number being good.]

NA BO: $87m / $11.31 (avg ticket price) = 7.7m theater goers

Streaming: 581m mins / 109 mins (runtime) = 5.3m views * 1.5 viewers per stream (random conservative-feeling estimate, don't know if there's data to indicate a better number to use) = 8m home viewers

And at an average of 25% of all those users being on the ad tiers (I think its more now but we'll go with that) that is a lot of eyeballs watching ads during the movie.
