We were really hoping this one would just go away during the Covid Pause... Sad they cut attractions that were announced and budgets, but not this thing that will forever ruin the feel of Fort Wilderness.

Everytime they throw up one of these ill advised dvc towers…There’s a clear loser:
All the people who bought dvc.
They’re just overflowing the pool at this point…and have been for years.
It’s almost like this is terrible management

Tron was a pause fest during COVID, Pandora is almost 10 years old, , Galaxies edge is 6 years old, and Guardians is a single attraction... ALL of these were built and took away previously enjoyed experiences (varying mileage there)..
NOTHING IS ADDITIONAL (cept Tron I supposed), it's all replacements for other attractions.. Universal didn't tear down studios to build Epic, and they concurrently have been replacing attractions at Studios and IOA..
Disney has become complacent and lazy... Exactly what Walt set out to NEVER do.. Disney Parks are NOT 'too big to fail'.

Someone should ask Bob how their precognitive powers to build things a decade ago to counter Epic Universe today does not extend over to the studio side of things in terms of their stewardship of Star Wars, Marvel (post-Endgame), and the Disney Princess franchises.

There's no need to *suppose* it was most definitely an addition.
As well as Ratatouille, which you forgot.
And the Sunset Studios show (Cars, and soon, Villains).
And it takes a lot of work and money to replace an attraction. That's not laziness nor complacency.
As Universal added new attractions in EU, they're leaving attractions in their other parks as empty as Stitch's Great Escape (Poseidon, Fear Factor, Sinbad, etc...). And they're also doing a lot of replacement, too, while not developing their shuttered spaces (F&F, Terminator, Shrek 4D, etc...).
IOW, Universal is doing what Disney is doing.
The layouts are mirror images, if memory serves.
And we won't even bring up DLP's version, which puts these to shame.

Funny, I always thought the WDW version felt more thrilling, and I like the town in the middle. Feels like something Walt would have included.They are in fact

I have always enjoyed the DL version more. The town is there but it's at the end. And I do like how The queue line gets to go into the middle of Big thunder and get surrounded by the attraction. Additionally I like the dark dark tunnel Just before Lift umber two.
And speaking of lift 2 there's also the famous, or infamous, "goat trick".
The turns always just felt a little bit sharper to me in California which I have assumed is because they had to squeeze it into a smaller footprint.

Disney fans are luckier than they think they are when it comes to the whole “close an attraction to replace it rather than add.”
Universal is known for none of their attractions being safe. They have a long history of closing to replace. Disney does this very little in comparison.
I mean, USF only has one singular opening day attraction and the only thing standing between it and demolition is Steven Spielberg’s beating heart.
I get the frustration with replacing rather than adding, but it is important to zoom out in the theme park world a bit and see thar Disney doesn’t do this nearly as frequently as most of their peers do.

As stated above, it wasn't like there was that many to start with. And I would also go so far as to say that while it is not an opening day attraction, Tower of Terror is the beating heart of the park and she remains.
USF is missing quite literally every attraction that once defined it.
But even zooming out, HS is not really the important park here. Magic Kingdom is. It still has a ton of its starters.

Add the interactive queue and the fact that we’re most likely getting a version of the earthquake scene and a pretty good argument could be made that we have the 2nd best version.

Out of all the cancelled Epcot Covid projects the Cherry Lane Mary Poppins takeover has me the most salty.
Someone needs to go ahead and revive this concept and give it a proper budget.Replace the proposed carousel idea with a busbar dark ride like was originally planned.

That’s kinda the same with USO…most of That stuff needed to go…anyway
Epcot’s stuff didn’t…it needed modernizing and additions. We didn’t really get either

Yeah…the “cancellations” are hard to gauge…since most involve one sketch shown at Discon, nothing happens, and then people swear it was out of their hands to do anything…
The “greenlit” Brazil pavilion, Main Street theater and the Poppins thing all come to mind

But it’s fairly common practice
Lowe’s is across the street from Home Depot…malls had 3 anchors that sold the same products in most cases
Electronics stores (when we had them)…next door

The one unique event MGM had in the early 1990s was included in the park ticket. In the parking lot was a wrestling ring and guests that day were treated to wrestling. That’s a fake attraction in itself.
